When I used to work close by, this was my favorite deli /restaurant. The food is delicious and prices are fair, unlike some of the competition in the area. Luckily, every interaction with the staff working here has been delightful and that is surprising, as some employees can become a bit disgruntled after working in the food industry. One of my favorite places for lunch by far.  Awesome salad bar, always fresh and plenty of choices for toppings.  They also have great soups/Panini's etc. as well as fresh desserts and breakfast.  The staff is always very friendly and attentive.  Only downside is they are always busy so call ahead if you are in a hurry.  They also deliver so that's a plus.  would definitely recommend. I work on Motor Parkway, this is the ONLY place that I will call for a lunch delivery for a few reasons. 1) Each time I've called the staff is very pleasant 2) They have a great selection of sandwiches and paninis, I've never had anything bad. I prefer the portobello burger and it's a large serving with fries so I only eat half and save the other half. My coworkers love their soups. 3) CONSISTENCY across the board. WAs at a conference at Upsky Hotel next door and their restaurant didn't even look open when we broke for lunch--found this little gem on Yelp.  It was very good--I had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was moist without being greasy.  It was nice to sit in the nicely sun-lit atrium.  Staff was friendly and they seemed to know the regulars while treating us newbies as well.  If I'm ever in the area, I'll be back More...

Very good soups and good sandwiches. Is you are looking for a quick stop and for something a bit above a deli, this is the place to go. GREAT FOR DAILY FRESH MADE SOUPS!  Although not all of them are my taste, they are all made that day and are good.  Their house pasta salad is good!A lot of pharmaceutical sales reps use this place for ordering lunch for their doctors. I am one of those. If it's not good we would never order from a given place. This place has good food and is reliable. I was pleasently suprised. Stone Soupe is not your average deli. If I had to describe their business to someone I would best describe it as a privately owned Panera. Unlike Panera (which is my favorite for years and years) their prices are doable and their portions decent. Their $5 lunch special (1/2 sandwich and soup) can't be beat. Disclaimer - I work at 100 Motor Parkway, so I may be a bit biased, as this is the cafe that is in the building that I work in. This is my daily stop for my co-workers and I for morning coffee, egg sandwiches, soup for lunch, as well as a a bunch of other choices for lunch.Any combination of egg sandwich I've ever had has been delicious.  Every day they have three different types of soups on the menu.  95% of the time, the soups are delicious.  Every now and then there's a dud.  Sandwiches are all good as are the pre-made salads.Maureen and her staff make it a point to remember almost all of their regular customer's names.  All of the staff is friendly and helpful.  They've even stopped to make me things on the spot if they didn't have it in their cooler.I've been working at this location for over 8 years.  There were some other outfits running the cafe prior to Stone Soup.  I'm so happy that Stone Soup came in.  They certainly aren't perfect, but they are worlds above the previous tenants, and are doing great work in the basement of 100 Motor Parkway. This place is an absolute GEM. I've been coming here since they opened in 2010. Panini's are their flagship, Heros are great too, soups are delicious and their variety of salads are worth mentioning as well. Service is on par usually, expect long waits during lunch as this place is well known. Does a ton of catering on a daily basis. Wow. I just picked up my lunch order . I work around the block. My order was ready when I got there and the cashier was very nice. The food is amazing. I got the Venice beach veggie burger and sweet potato fries. So good!!!! And so filling... The price for it was really reasonable as well!! Deff will be coming here for lunch more often!!! I'm quite disappointed in myself for not stopping by Stone Soupe earlier, despite countless recommendations from friends. For some reason, i kept thinking Soup's On was the same place as Stone Soup and had been very disappointed with Soup's On in the past .But on to the good stuff....Their half panini with soup deal is top notch and only costs ~6!! Got the S.O.B. from Janet K's recommendation, and LOVED IT! Actually came back and got it again another time too... The combination of chicken, GUAC (you the best), and their sauce gives this panini such a cool kick. Also tried the Old Field - chicken cutlet, spinach, basil mayo, oven roasted tomato.... this one was alright and I would not order this again bc it was too mediocre without any special taste.The soups: They tend to be on the saltier side and do not come with bread... but they are hearty and filling. - Tried their version of chicken noodle soup with orzo. Awesome deli! They have great soup and sandwiches. Their salads are fantastic too, and their chopped/tossed salad bar is the best in the area. All the staff are always friendly, helpful and quick to get you out the door. They deliver and will cater as well. I personally love their soup and half sandwich special. Any soup, and 1/2 of any sandwich on the menu for under $7... They have a huge selection of sandwiches, although for a place called stone soupe they only have 3 soups a day... All the soups I have tried have been good though, and they switch them up daily... I have been coming here at least twice a week for the last few months, they have so many choices, it never gets boring. Prices are very fair. Came here for breakfast. Ordered the kamikaze which is like 3 eggs, bacon, ham, cheese and home fries on a hero. Everything was good. I didn't ask for it to be anything special so I shouldn't expect much in terms of how eggs were cooked, in this case a little overdone to my liking. I find they don't give enough ham to make any difference whether it is there or not. Their home fries though are very good. $6.99 for the sandwich and it is quite filling. I have been working in this area for almost 15 years.  Many Delis & Pizza places have come and gone over the years.  I knew instantly that Stone Soup would last.  First thing they did was completely renovate the place which it was in desperate need of.  They spent the extra $$ and I guarantee it has paid off.  The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting.  They have a small area for dining as well as some tables outside that are great in the warmer months.The food is simply some of the best I have had in the Setauket / Lake Grove area. I have yet to have something that I don't like at Stone Soup, I am not kidding.  The Hero's are just amazing (try the Melville Patriot, you will love it).  Their Pannini's are to die for, especially the Cubano Havana,  and their salads are very creative and unique.  The custom salad bar is always fresh and they have a wide selection of ingredients.  I have visited salad specialty shops that don't come close to Stone Soups selection.The people are always friendly and they go that extra step to make you feel at home.   All the employees at Stone Soup are the best!  Summer months are a great time to visit Stone soup as my co-workers and I enjoy taking the walk from our office , then being able to enjoy lunch outside is a definite plus when you work inside all day.I would definitely recommend Stone Soup to anyone I know. This place is great! I always get their half panini, half soup lunch deal (MMM SOB-South of the Border, SO good). It's $6. 50 for the deal, including tax, which is affordable and totally worth it. They take online orders, which is pretty fantastic, for the reason listed at the end of this review. And when you call to ask what their soup of the day is, they patiently list everything and make sure you remember it all. I guess they know how great they are, and they're nice about it! The only downside is that its location makes it the prime lunchtime destination for all of the doctors and other healthcare professionals in the Stony Brook area (hey, the food is doctor-endorsed!), and Belle Meade Road gets really congested around that time... so basically, order ahead, lest you wait forever getting there, parking and waiting in line. Great take out place for lunch. There's always a huge line and food takes a while, but is freshly made.  I've had soup a few times here, but I've never been bowled over by the soup.  I feel as though the cream soups are too thin and under-seasoned.  The sandwiches however make this place a solid 4-stars.   The "stone soup tidbits" is grilled angus steak slices with mozzarella, BBQ sauce and crunchy fried onions on a club roll.  Pure Heaven.
