What do you love most about your job?
Since a kid, I have always liked numbers & business. I graduated with a degree in accounting. But I never really put it to work.
I became an entrepreneur in the fashion industry here in New York and did well for a time, I guess the beginner's luck as described in Paulo Coelho's book, The Alchemist. But life had other things in store (more below). Even as I ran my own fashion business, I still did the books due to my passion of working with numbers using, Quickbooks.
Since I was a teen I was a voracious reader of business books and even am today.. I have always been an observer of business evolution. And at the perch I have as a bookkeeper I can observe with detachment the changes and evolution in the business thru the numbers that I field in these businesses.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Actually it was not an inspiration. It was a pragmatic decision that I had to take, The fashion business that I ran collapsed overnight in the 2008 financial crisis after a major customer went bankrupt. Left with no capital and no work and a kid I had to find work to earn a living. After my self analysis, I realized that I had the qualification, practical knowledge and entrepreneurial experience to put my love for numbers to work. To monetize it. From being my own bookkeeper for my fashion business I became the bookkeeper to other clients.
