Came here for lunch, food is way better then what I expect for a venue type restaurant.  Lots of flavor and options when it comes to the menu.  Service was also well above par.Drinks were okay, ordered a Moscow and it was pre-mixed so it was flat and it tasted more lime then anything.  So sub par on that aspect.   Note to any bar/watering hole/ dive what not.  Don't pre make drinks or mixers for them, the 3 minutes you'll save are not worth the crap drink, just sayin. Came from out of town with a friend to celebrate our birthday! We came on their taco Tuesday, which was a great with tacos and margarita deal. The tacos you dress up yourself which is nice and the cook the meat of choice at their grill in front of you. Met the manager and he took great care of us! First the good: StillWater is a great place for dinner, drinks, and entertainment with a nice ambience and good food. It's definitely one of the area's hot spots for nightlife in the 30s - 50s crowd. The bad: The outside bar closes at 11pm and patrons are forced to pack inside if they want to keep the evening going. I assume this is because of some city ordinance, but inside then gets extremely crowded, especially because they still have many of the high top tables still in place right by the bar. These long tables create only one small opening to reach the bar, making it difficult to access. And once at the bar, the patrons are crammed between it and the high tables, leaving little room to maneuver and order. Most establishments remove the tables at a certain point in favor of having more room to dance (which tons do at this great place) and better access to the bar. StillWater would definitely help its patrons and staff out if they did the same. More...

EXCELLENT FOOD, Ambiance & Service! Manager Donny is on top of things, he's personable and he makes it happen. The food is the best, and it comes out quickly. The bands are great & security is always present, so you feel safe. The only complaint, they need to expand the outdoor seating. I'm a fiend for live music, and I love checking out local bar bands and tribute bands.  So Petty (Tom Petty tribute band) was playing, so we made the trek to Dana Point.  This place gets busy, which makes arriving early critical for both parking and seating.  We didn't have reservations, so we had to settle for a perfectly nice table on the outdoor patio despite arriving an hour before the scheduled 6:00 p.m. start time for So Petty.  Shortly after sitting down, we realized we were fortunate to have a table at all.  In fairness, it was Sunday night on the Labor Day weekend in a beach city.  We weren't in the mood for a heavy meal, so we decided to share some small plates, each of which was portioned generously.  The Tuna poke and shrimp ceviche were both excellent, and I would order them both again without hesitation.  The chicken wings, on the other hand, were nothing to write home about.  They were fine but not a stand out. If I were to do that combo again, I would swap out the wings for the calamari some reviewers have raved about. Our server, Erin, was a rock star.  It was super busy from the moment we sat down, but she handled our meal and drinks perfectly. A number of reviewers note heavy pours.  That was not my experience, but my pour meter is calibrated for dive bars that serve buckets that are basically doubles.  After we finished our meal, we were able to check out So Petty albeit not from a table, which was fine.  Great band that played some cool deep cuts after starting out with all the Tom Petty crowd pleasers.  Crowd wise, the place tilts strongly toward middle aged locals.  It's Dana Point, so draw your own conclusions.  Pro tip:  If you are there for the band, make a table reservation well in advance. Great happy hour (I suggest the chili and several glasses of $5 wine).  We always sit on the patio and bring our dog.  The service can be dicey thought unless you sit at the bar the female bartender who's been there forever is the best. .. she's there on weekends.  Also, their bottomless mimosas on weekend is epic and they won't let your glass go dry- they are more likely to just leave you the bottle.  Food is good not great, not bad either. Good atmosphere, drinks and food. The location and ambiance are great. In doors they will occasionally have bands playing and outside they have a great porch you can sit and eat on (I believe they also have a bar outside). I've come here several times and have gotten the brussels and flatbread which were both great! I recently tried the ahi sandwich which I honestly wasn't a fan of but my boyfriend loved it. I felt like it was a little bland and strange to have ahi with bread, but to each their own. We also tried the B Side Burger which i enjoyed much more so than the ahi. Our drinks were tasty but kind of small for the price. I got Freddy's Fiesta- loved it- a good choice for those who like sweeter, fruitier drinks. My boyfriend likes bitter drinks so the waitress had the bartender make him a whiskey drink- not sure what it was called but it was great. Our waitress had great drink recommendations. Overall, we always have a good experience when we come to StillWater and afterwards we take a walk around the Marina/beach. I love this place. It's always easy to feel comfortable here and it was one of the pit stops for a bachelorette night we had for a good friend. The girls all got cocktails and the bartender made me a red bull with a splash of cranberry I found it a little odd and kind of uncalled for that they shut down 10 minutes before the actual closing time, and shouted to all the guests that they had to leave, forcing everyone to chug the rest of their drinks. OK. So place is busy as hell. Waiters and waitresses scrambling just to keep up. Service is a bit slow but we are a big group and do not feel ignored. The Calamari Appetizer.  Excellent. I lived in Italy for 6 years and as far as Legit Calamari is concerned NAILED IT!!!Super light batter. Perfectly cooked. There seemed to be limited options for us when we were in town on a Saturday night and StillWater was recommended to us by the front desk of our hotel.  Outdoor seating was available if you didn't want to pay to sit inside to see the band.  We sat at the firepit table that is shared with others and had a few drinks and dinner.  The roasted vegetable pizza was delicious and the ranch tasted homemade.  $5 off your order when you check in on yelp. My fiancé and I drove up from San Diego for a date night and had a great time. I had a burger and he had the Ribeye and it was all delish! Our server Alexis was amazing and was super sweet. It was a very busy Saturday night and she never left us hanging and always made sure we had filled drinks and was taken care of. There was an 80's band playing and be aware that it gets very crowded but the people and atmosphere made it fun and overall great date night! First time here and came to see Yachtley Crew! We were lucky enough to reserve a table for our group. You should reserve a table way in advance cause it gets super busy and a lot of snooty people come in on the fly thinking they are getting a table. They are not....For how busy it was, our waitress was spot on the entire night! She came over regularly for our drinks, got all our food right, and even got us lots of water later in the night.
