My mom and I typically do taxes out of a box every year, but this passed fall, she was a victim of fraud. She lost tens of thousands of dollars. After we filed all of the criminal paperwork, my sister and I thought it made sense to get professional assistance on her taxes to see if there was anything that could be done about the loss. I reached out to Mitchell Kaplan and the team at Steven Chamoff & Co. They were very understanding, answered all our questions, and were quick to respond. They took care of both of us, and while Mom didn't get back everything, they were able to help her recover something! Business Taxes - Sales, Payroll, Excise, & etc - We help your firm meet your filing and payment responsibilities for employment taxes you've withheld, sales taxes you've collected, and other similar obligations.
Bookkeeping - We'll maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date record of your income, expenses, assets, and liabilities. By collecting and organizing this information you can make the best decisions for your business, such as how to expand or reduce costs.
Income Tax Returns - We'll ensure your annual individual and business income taxes are calculated accurately and paid/filed on time. Our knowledge and attention to detail are the keys to identifying all deductions and credits to which you're eligible.

What inspired you to start your own business?
While the firm's founder Steve Chamoff was in college he enjoyed working for his older brother's accounting firm. In 1973, early in his own career, he made a connection with an accountant who was selling his practice and was successful in purchasing it.

We have 47 years of success being proactive for our clients. They have come to trust and rely on us for personable, knowledgeable, reliable, timely, efficient, and accurate service. In that long span they have very rarely been disappointed.

Yes, the vast majority of the actual work is done digitally without client involvement needed after we receive the necessary information or documents from you. We can easily remotely communicate with you via call, text, video-conference, and/or e-mail, and we can remotely exchange documents via fax, e-mail, upload, or mail.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We have a regular cleaning schedule, and make sure everyone wears masks and distances during any in-person client meetings. The reality is that our customers are very rarely at our office, though we visit our business clients' locations about once a month.
