I am very happy working with Stephanie, my trainer at STEPS Fitness. Whereas my previous training and exercise focused on getting my body stronger without hurting my injured shoulder, I now feel my weaker shoulder is getting stronger! Stephanie has linked me with an app so she can advise me on best ways to round out my fitness plan as I recount what I'm doing at the Y throughout the week. Best of all, I have NO PAIN in my shoulder right now! I feel better now than I have in years. This is what I wanted to achieve and it appears I am on the right path. More...

Dr Irv continues to preform miracles on my breaking body. He fixed my knees and back when I first started ... now they are pain free. I continued my sports activities, and he fixes the new problems this 67 year old body encounters. Walking 105 holes of golf in 5 days, bike riding the 120 mile Jack and Back, volleyball and pickle ball are still my current activities. His exercise equipment and facilities are always very clean. The exercise programs always vary and keep you on your toes. Challenge him and he'll kick your butt, but if you are hurting anywhere ... he'll make sure to strengthen and improve your problem area. Having broken my back and neck skiing at Vail a decade ago, I needed a custom excercise regiment. Before finding STEPS, whenever exercising on my own, I seemed to be exasperating my constant pain, not alleviating it. A friend recommended STEPS more than a year ago. Dr. Irv listened to my concerns and needs. He tailored a routine that has allowed me to live pain free and regain my desired level of fitness. STEPS facilities were spotless, well maintained, and provided enough variety to keep me from getting bored. Dr. Irv even worked with me to accommodate my crazy schedule. Steps has provided me a place to work out with very knowledgeable trainers at the level my body may be in, i.e. needing rehab, working with various body aches, etc. in an environment that is friendly, not overcrowded and fun to be in. I've been working out with Irv and various trainers for 20+ years. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to increase strength, stamina and overall fitness. Great place to feed your brain also! I've been mining the golden advice from Dr. Irv for more years than I'd like to count but thanks to his excellent and ongoing advice I am feeling as good as I've ever felt and my fitness level and strength are those of somebody half my age. I was a strictly free-weight/machine lifter before I started taking advice from Irv but he has won me over with some of his highly innovative routines and techniques. I've been working out at Steps for over 20 years, through healthy times and times when I've been injured or just plain "not feeling like it". Steps has kept me going with a workout tailored to my needs at the time. Although I have never found exercise to be fun, I realize that it is a necessary part of living well. Great people, great place. If you are considering being a healthier you, this is without a doubt the place you have to be. I have been a cyclist for the past 6 years and have a back injury from years working in emergency services. I found myself in a place where I was unhappy with my health and found it difficult to advance in cycling, specifically endurance and strength. Dr. Irv did a thorough assessment of my fitness and was able to set me up with Latina, who was a perfect match for my needs. Latina somehow knows exactly how far to push me and what I need. When I need to be pushed beyond my limits, she shows me what I am truly capable of; when I need to heal, she puts me back together. She catches me every time I break form and try to cheat an exercise, and although constantly aware of my injuries, she never lets me use them as an excuse. Latina has also changed my way of approaching day to day movement, cycling and exercise. Thanks to her not only am I stronger, faster and healthier, but I have developed the mindset of an athlete (or at least I am starting to).So, yeah. 5 stars More...

5 stars! Irv has been a delight to work with over the years. He is always accommodating of my schedule and gives me a great workout! He does more than just train me 2 days a week, he answers all my health questions via email 24/7 and sends me articles he knows are relevant to me and my lifestyle. This is THE PLACE to train in Nashville. Well-equipped and clean facility, perfect location (for me anyway), friendly and encouraging crowd, and inspiring trainers. I'm always amazed at how hard the folks around me are working and because of that I push myself as well. I train with Irv, the owner, and he's just the best! I've never felt better or stronger. Great  people, great place. From my first day to months later everyone who I encounter here is friendly and helpful. The gym itself has great equipment that is well kept and everything is very clean. I went here looking for a tailored 3-month, bootcamp-style program to get back into shape while I was in town. I had a consultation with Irv, the owner, who listened very attentively to what I wanted to achieve, gave me some expert tips on the spot and offered me a great price for the three months. He paired me off with Latina, a former pro-basketballer, who brings her wealth of practical knowledge and experience to our session three times a week. The sessions aren't easy, but I'm seeing great results. My weight has dropped 13lbs already and we haven't even hit the end of 6 weeks yet. I feel terrific - more confident, energetic and physically capable. Most importantly, my medical markers have all improved.I recommend Steps highly, particularly if (like me) you have a set of goals you want to achieve and would benefit from the structure and routine of regular sessions with a personal trainer. You simply cannot do this as effectively without the objective, responsive, expert perspective the trainer brings. And Irv's trainers are the best. More...
