Joined here for the lap pool while doing knee rehab. Usually open lanes and people share if all 4 are taken. Gym is pretty good and not overly crowded. Nice staff. Hard to justify price, seems like it should be $40-50 per month... would have more long term loyal members. More...

I really enjoy steel fitness premier. It is expensive, but for the size of the pool and the indoor track plus everything else, it’s worth it to me. I’ve been a member of planet fitness and max fitness and this just offers a whole lot more. The locker room is spacious and the showers are nice. Cleaning staff is so sweet, always. I’ve taken a few classes and they were good, too. I took a tour of a fitness country club in Allentown and it was almost 100/month, and not nearly as friendly, the pool was smaller and everything cost extra to do. I have to say other than it costing a lot ( which is worth it when I use the hot tub every day) I have zero complaints. More...

I do love working out at Steel Fitness, but there are a few problems which can be expected in such a large facility. My biggest disappointment is the lack of promotional sales for Personal Training. The club is always running a promotion on massage, membership, whatever but not on personal training! When I asked why this was the case I was told that personal training sales are good so no promotions are needed. What about what your customers want? SF use to have flash sales and holiday promotions for personal training but no more. That is my biggest complaint - nothing special for the tried and true customers. More...

They've got everything the average personcould possibly want in a gym and more. For the strength sh athlete, they've got four power racks, bumper plates, battle ropes, a giant Crossfit-style cage, battle ropes, and a sled. Tragically, they lack a single decent bar for squatting, but this is a pretty phenomenal place to train. The staff is excellent, and the general manager is a very amicable guy who will work with you off you hot a tight spot and need leeway on payment dates. More...

Being a plus-sized woman, I’ve always avoided gyms and “gym people.” But it became clear that my recumbent bike in my rec room wasn’t helping me get to where I wanted to be health-wise. I joined Steel Fitness and didn’t lose weight at first because I didn’t change my eating habits. I planned on exclusively using the pool but found myself on the “fit floor” using the treadmills, weights, and recumbent bikes. After a plantar fasciitis flare up, my physical therapist told me to try the pool instead. Despite the extra effort of locking up my belongings and changing into a swimsuit, I discovered all things swimming worked for me. I’ve even taken a couple of aqua aerobics classes, which are fantastic. I’ve met some lovely people in the pools (most people in other parts of the gym have headphones on so we don’t really talk) and more importantly, I’m getting a great workout. Combined with healthy eating, my hard work is paying off. Also, most of the staff at Steel Fitness is great! They are friendly, helpful, and encouraging. The facility is clean, safe, and there’s even a book nook where members exchange books. I’m so glad I joined Steel Fitness! More...

A very nice gym with great amenities. Members are generally courteous and friendly. Staff are friendly and nice. Towels and toiletries that never runout. Definitely much better than LA fitness! I know the monthly dues are almost double or 50% more than what other gym charges but it's definitely worth it. To be able to work out in an environment where members are nice and friendly and not having to worry about getting your sneakers or phone stolen is priceless! More...

Prices are higher but that means the crowd is better, Also they have a bunch of deals and discounts usually. Also means that it usually is not packed in gym area. my chief complaint is that the pool is packed quite frequently and it takes an act of God to get people to lane share. More...

I love it here. As I go regularly, the staff is amazing & helpful. The equipment's not to bad either. They have a lot of personalized classes (I have not taken any though) and trainers which I have seen helping people one on one. I've even seen little kids going in with parents to the pools or saunas. Overall, highly worth it, especially if your a student, volunteer firefighter/ems or a vet as its 50% off. More...

After John Brinson's clubs closed (I was a member there for 30 years), I went to another club for awhile. Big mistake. I could write a book about all that was bad about that club! Then I came to SF. I love it here. SF might not be for everyone, so take advantage of the three-day pass to decide if the value proposition works for you. For me, the pool and locker-room sold me. There's much more I could mention, but why not try it for yourself? You decide. More...

I've gone here for two years now, I primarily go during the slow time of the weekdays (10am-1pm) so my experience could differ from those that go during the busiest hours. The atmosphere is great, there's a front desk in the weight room with knowledgeable personal trainers who are happy to assist you with showing the proper way to use a piece of equipment, or spot you when you're lifting a heavy weight. The cost of the membership really brings in the people that are serious about the purpose of a gym, never had a negative encounter with anybody there, machines and benches are rarely left sweaty. The only thing that bothers me would be the locks on the lockers can give you a hard time occasionally, not really a huge deal and they have lockers available to use your own lock. More...

This is probably the best gym in the area. The whole facility it clean and always nice. The weights are in amazing shape. Ignore the post about not having a bench press . That person clearly does not lift. There are multiply power racks and benches that can be used for squats, beach presses, etc. The machines are in great shape. This is also one of the few places that offers bumper plates for Olympic style lifts as well. The pool is very well maintained. I use that for swimming laps throughout the week. As mentioned earlier, the locker rooms are always clean and secure. The cost is up there around $70 a month. They do offer discounts. For myself and my wife this is a bargain. We take advantage of the various classes offered throughout the week. (Cycle, Yoga, High Intensity Training) Stop out and see for yourself. More...
