Really good food and friendly service staff. I had trout and lamb and while the trout was perfect, my lamb was cooked well and I like it rare but I didn't specify the doneness when I ordered it. My wife had shrimp scampi and loved it. Sadly, they were out of creme brulee but the complimentary apple crisp was delicious. If cooler temperature was possible we would have been more comfy, but I want to try the steamer clams next time we go. More...

This place is a hidden gem. It's small so I recommend getting a reservation for weekend dining in the summer. The food and service were outstanding and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal.

This was the first time for us at Steamers. We both ordered the scallop dinner and took advantage of happy hour appetizers and wine. We thought the house chardonnay was quite good considering the happy hour price, and the entire meal was delicious. The scallops weren't cleaned properly, still having the side muscle attached, and they were a tad overcooked and chewy. They could have used a little more seasoning, but overall they were nice. Had dinner here while in town. I was expecting this to be the best dinner I'd have in Idaho. It wasn't. I had the Cajun Ribeye with mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked very well. However, I'm not sure what was Cajun about it. The steak was really bland, absent any Cajun spice or salt. The mashed potatoes were also bland and not creamy. The French onion soup looks awesome. The crouton and cheese were good but the broth again lacked flavor and seasoning. Cream brûlée was also pretty blah. Best dish we had was the spinach artichoke dip. It was very good. My wife and I chose to celebrate our anniversary at Steamers due to several recommendations from friends. We were truly excited to finally try it. The meal began with what was advertised as “Jumbo” scallops appetizer. The scallops come out and only on would be considered a jumbo. Additionally they were overcooked, chewy, and several still had grit from not being cleaned and washed completely. The next course was salad and soup. My wife ordered/upgraded to the French Onion soup for the additional $3. The soup had no flavor and was completely full of soggy bread. I ordered a salad and the soup de jour which was clam chowder. Again there was no flavor in the soup and it was all potatoes and very little clam. For the main course my wife ordered the Salmon and Rice. It was delivered with the mashed potatoes instead of the rice ( this also happened at the table next to us). They did immediately get her the rice she ordered. I ordered the “special” which was Sole with garlic mashed potatoes. The fish was over cooked with no flavor and the “garlic” mashed potatoes were definitely instant potatoes out of the box and were runny and TERRIBLE”. The rice also came directly from a box and had no flavor. I am very disappointed in the meal we received and do not plan to EVER go there and spend money on what I consider be a VERY MEDIOCRE meal. The place is nice and clean, we had made a reservation and was told to share one for our group which I thought was weird but whatever. Steaks were decent, the fried oysters were black and the scallops were okay to me. My buddies did say the lamb and steaks were delicious so that's that. More...

This place isn't always easy to get into so calling ahead for a reservation is highly recommended. Salad was outstanding with lots of fresh greens, candied nuts and dried pears. Entree was rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly. Very tender, and fall of the bone goodness, creamy mashed potatoes and a nice veggie medley. For dessert we were recommended the Crème brûlée. I however would not recommend it. It was just thick flavorless pudding, not much flavor and the sugar shell on top looked as it should but was not crisp. Ambiance wasn't great, but it was probably where we were sitting. The servers station ( where they scrape the plates off and put the silverware in a bucket after they clear the tables) was right near us so it was a bit noise and distracting. Excellent meal. The service was attentive, in spite of being short staffed. The rack of lamb was tender and delicious, although more on the medium side that I'd ordered it.

Mediocre at best. I ordered the trout after the server offered a glowing recommendation of the dish. The trout was fishy, I barely touched it. When I said something to the server she said "of course it's fishy, it's fish". She was apparently unaware of the difference between fresh fish and whatever they served me. The side of veggies were so over cooked they were mush. I will say the Idaho mashed potatoes were amazing. The wine list... meh but priced accordingly. More...

Probably the best meal we had this week in McCall! The hostess was more than pleasant and helpful. Our reservation had us at a table on time. The server was friendly and efficient. The food came out on time - no delays. The trout was amazing, and the poached salmon a delight. We also had the cream of mushroom soup and the French onion soup - to die for. The pear- walnut salad was superb. Terrific wine list. Moreover, the entire staff hustled and was working very hard. We would go back in a heartbeat. We had an excellent meal with superior service! This place honestly does not look like anything special from the outside, but it is really quite nice inside. Lots of booths and tables. We tried to eat here the night before but they could only take guests who had made reservations. So plan ahead if you can! I highly recommend upgrading to the French onion soup or pear and walnut salad. Both were excellent. Our party of 3 had trout and lamb. Absolutely delicious.
