Q&As

Nutrition is critical for overall wellbeing. Especially in the world of mental health. For example, low blood sugar produces the same feelings as anxiety. How do you determine which is which. We educate our clients to understand the importance of not only getting but absorbing nutrients essential to optimize mind and body experiences.

We offer personal training in the context of mental health and general well-being. Stages Mental Health is filling a niche market, especially for those who are just getting started with life improvement. Graduating to "fitness goals" is best done at the gym.

Daily work on mind, body, soul, nutrition. Part of "getting" the body of your dreams also requires "maintaining" it.

I love people. It is my honor to be asked to walk with someone on part of their journey through some of the most difficult times and watch them blossom into something beautiful.

I have enjoyed all of my past employers. But often, there are limitations as to what their mission or agenda is, or how they may be regulated to provide only certain services. Working with clients in those settings and learning what they wanted or needed set me on a journey to implement programs that are meaningful and not frequently available. We occupy different roles every day. One moment we are mom/dad, then we are co-worker, leader, student, or friend. We are actors of different stages each day. These roles happen in different "stages" of our lives. This is why Stages Mental Health became the name of the organization.

We are here when friends and family don't have the knowledge, skills, abilities or resources to assist you through difficult times. Stages Mental Health offers comprehensive treatment plans especially for those struggling with mental health and chronic illness.

Telehealth is available anywhere in Idaho. We provide telehealth services through ZOOM. Services are HIPAA compliant and secure. Client's just need a phone, PC or tablet and access to the internet.

Availability of telehealth services keeps our clients connected during times of illness, whether it's Covid or any other illness. We appreciate exercising good judgement and not spreading illness to others.

Services

Music therapy is a broad opportunity to infuse the use of music as a method of communication. Sometimes a song may provide words or sounds that express how we are feeling in a way we may struggle to communicate with another person. Music may be in the background softly playing to help individuals relax, decrease the anxiety of sharing sensitive information with the counselor, or recalling past traumatic experiences.

Hypnotherapy is offered as part of mental health treatment planning only. Hypnotherapy is experiencing a relaxed state to retrain the brain about our thoughts and feelings. In the clinical setting, clients will also have goals and objectives to achieve in conjunction with other mental health strategies. This is not the same as entertainers who are hypnotists. We do not currently offer ala carte hypnotherapy services for things like smoking cessation or improved sports performance. There MUST be a mental health component.

Understanding the role of nutrition in context of mood is an important component of how the body and mind function interdependently. The old saying of you are what you eat is one way of looking at things, but the cliche has been updated to you are what you absorb.
We can help you find answers to questions like ... How does nutrition interact with changing hormones in the lifecycle? How do over-the-counter supplements help me? What does my medication have to do with it? What information should I be providing to my doctors? How can I help my body recover from substance; and many more. Nutrition coaching in this context is reserved for mental health patients with comorbid conditions seeking relief from depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.

Stages Mental Health provides personal training as part of the mental health treatment plan only. This is not an Ala Carte service. Exercise and physical activity is a crucial component of recovery from illness, injury, substance use, and many mental health conditions. Physical activity increases positive "feel good" endorphins to help the body improve in so many ways - physically and emotionally. We help clients understand appropriate exercise/activity measures and how it can improve overall functioning. Our Nampa office even has a small fitness area clients can use by appointment.

We aren't just ALL TALK! We have some exciting activities in development. This modality is reserved for clients only - who are willing to do the work and make improvements, we have some opportunities to try out new skills, knowledge and abilities in a safe environment. Summer is typically the best opportunity to do things like play in the water, go paddleboarding, camping, auto races, movies, or concerts.

Couples date night - learn how to connect in session, then put it action on an actual date night with other couples managing difficult life transitions as well.

Family activities - Family dynamics can be difficult. Meeting goals in session brings opportunities to go to family events with other families who are learning right along with you.

Singles - Depending on your age, being single can be challenging. We aren't match makers, but we can teach you how to be comfortable in social settings, have conversations with people, learn to be independent and overcome fears of being alone. We have some activities to help you do just that.
