My 85 year old father moved to Savannah and into assisted living. His 6'1" stature was stooped over so far all you could see from the front was the the back of his head. He loves to walk and had pretty much given up walking for exercise. We had physical therapists work with him but they were only able to do six weeks before the insurance ran out and the cost was prohibitive. I thought perhaps a personal trainer would make the difference to his quality of life. I found Kathy Speno through a referral website. She has done miracles with my father. He can stand up and pull his shoulders back; and he is able to walk independently around his assisted living facility. And, an added benefit has been his ability to converse with people in her workout facility. Mentally, my father is so much sharper than when he started with Kathy a year ago. I would recommend Kathy to anyone! As I've said, she is a miracle worker. More...

Kathy Speno, owner of Speno Fitness and FMS certified trainer and trainer Jordan Otto, Master's Degree in Sports Medicine and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, are awesome. Speno Fitness is the only FMS certified fitness center in the Savannah/Pooler/Richmond Hill area. If you are not familiar with Functional Movement Training, Google and educate yourself on "What is Functional Movement Training" to understand what it is and why it is important. That knowledge is key to understanding why Speno fitness is that good. For example, in any given year, anywhere between 65 percent and 80 percent of runners incur an injury (again, Google to validate the facts). Functional Movement is rather about training your muscles to work together as a single unit to improve mobility, flexibility, stability and prevent injury. No sport with the exception of Olympic powerlifting is about movement in isolation. Sports are about running, throwing, twisting and using your muscles as a single unit. Hence movement and ensuring all of your muscles are firing and working together is key to any sport. Key trainers like Ryan Flaherty, Nike's head trainer who trains NFL draft picks, Olympic Athletes, Serena Williams etc., Chris Sommers the Men's USA gymnastics strength coach, Tim Ferriss author of "The 4-Hour Body" all endorse Functional Movement Training. Even if you just want to get in better shape, life is about movement as we age. Yes this is a glowing review with no compensation or relationship with Kathy other than client. I am writing as a former college athlete and now an aging Master's athlete who has only known and been a client of Kathy's for five months and incredibly pleased and satisfied of the results I have attained with her. Speno Fitness has done my body wonders! I'm a 27 year old athlete and runner, but I have seen her work with every body type and every age. She designs workouts that are inspired particularly for you and I could not be happier with the results. I would recommend this studio to anyone! More...

We had another great workout today with Kathy...She somehow finds a way to stress all muscle groups to the max. And, we actually have a fun time while being punished! You just can't get a similar workout on your own. More...

Rick and I have been with Kathy for over 10 years. We both have lots of structural issues, but Kathy keeps us in working order! It's definitely fun to work out with the Butlers first thing Thursday morning and we are always finding new muscles that we didn't know we had by Friday morning. Our workouts are alway different and it's the kind of stuff you would never do on your own. Kathy knows her stuff and challenges our bodies, while focusing on what we individually need to remain strong and functional, hopefully for years to come. Thanks Kathy!Linda Winger More...
