South Beach Takeout, Catering, & Delivery

We hired South Beach Takeout to cater our wedding reception back in June and it was incredible and a wonderful experience! We (and our families) are from Southern California but we had our reception in Kitty Hawk. I wanted tacos, but we weren't sure we'd find tacos that were up to our standards. We were prepared to switch to BBQ (since it's NC), but ended up LOVING the tacos here.Wayne, Kerstin, and the rest of the team were so incredibly accommodating during the process. I'm vegetarian and we were going to have guests who were vegan and lactose intolerant, not to mention our meat-loving guests, so we had to find a menu that worked best for us. We're not local, so all of this was done over email. Each email we received was thorough and incredibly helpful, with all of the detail and reassurances we were looking for. They were thoughtful about the ingredients, mindful of our budget, and willing to work with us on our timeline and location. Even just stopping by for a tasting of the tacos was incredible. We were taken care of and Wayne was there to walk us through everything himself. Honestly it was a very difficult decision on which tacos to order, as they were all great. We actually ended up expanding our menu to make room for more.On the day of the reception, they made their way all the way to Kitty Hawk to deliver the food. We opted to pay for serving utensils and plates/utensils/napkins/etc., which was also great. Wayne and Kerstin set everything up, labeled everything, and made sure we were happy before taking off. We settled up at the end and the cost was reasonable and absolutely worth everything we received in return. Very little food was left at the end of the night (just enough for a family lunch the next day), and we had plenty of compliments on the food. It kept everyone full and happy, which is all you can really ask of Wedding Reception food, right?I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire South Beach again. We're visiting OBX for a long weekend and had them deliver to us on our last night. The food was amazing! We have a mix of vegetarians and meat eaters and everybody was super happy with their choice. Omg!!!!! This place is amazing. They’re fries are absolutely amazing... And the gf bun is on point. We got their burgers and a Philly steak vegan. We are all vegan and gluten free and we didn’t get sick at all. They are super conscious of gluten free. They came out and asked us for specific things because our order was Super confusing....We got a little overwhelmed and almost ordered everything on the menu....Anyway, the food was amazing! Nice little place next to Blue Moon. Was looking for fish tacos so decided to try them out. Everything was put together well and the spiral fries were great with a delicious dipping sauce. The vegetarian/vegan options here are amazing! I tried both the buffalo cauliflower tacos and the south beach cauliflower tacos and they were both absolute winners. Its hard to find vegetarian food in OBX and even harder to find some this delicious. It was also great because my fiance was able to order quality sea food here as well, so there was something for everyone. The fries were well seasoned and so good. Wanting a quick, but homecooked healthy food option, we took the chance to have lunch here. Their menu actually presented a wonderful array of options, including those for vegetarian/vegans. Wraps, burgers and huuuge salads. The super friendly cashier (I believe her name was Shannon) was very helpful with helping me decide what to order, and created a custom burger option for my weird and picky vegetarian self. She even, after ordering, suggested awesome places to visit while we are in town too. I ended up ordering the south beach burger, with the vegan patty (beyond burger) instead, and it was 10,000 times better than any beyond burger I have ever had. I was so happy with this, and the delicious fries that come with it.Not wanting a full restaurant experience, and wanting to sit outside with a draft beer, this was the perfect place for us beach bums. Being an NC native, I love it when I come to small business and have the same small town southern hospitality i get when im home. Totally recommend this place for families and people who love to sit outside and enjoy the beach air with their food. If i ever see their food truck, Fork'et me Not, i will be sure to run over. If you're visiting in the outer banks and you're looking for vegan friendly options then this is the ONLY place to go. Tons of options, freshly made as you order nothing tastes off or processed. Zero cross contamination in the kitchen. This is where we ate basically the entire trip because no other restaurants in the outer banks offer vegan food and have a dedicated menu to it. Amazing- simply amazing food here! Friendly service as well but the food completely blew my mind! Their veggie burger was unlike any veggie burger I've had and I have had A LOT of veggie burgers. The veggie burger had a chargrilled taste to it and tasted very very close to real meat. I had to scrutinize the "meat" a couple of times because it tasted so unbelievably good. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer wasn't my favorite as the breading kinda fell off but the *crispy* cauliflower tacos were so good. They had a great flavor and texture with an Asian style sauce on the cauliflower. Again, really really good "crispy cauli tacos". South beach edamame was some of the best edamame ever. The edamame was soaked in their south beach sauce which had a garlic sweet and slightly spicy sauce. Just ok, but I appreciate all the food accommodations they can do. There are two small tables inside and some blazing direct sun seats outside - this is very much a take out kind of place. We came with a few vegans and a few regular eaters and all felt it was adequate but not anything to write home about. The issue we all had was the menu items sounded really good but were kind of bland, lacking a solid punch of flavor. Sauces were kind of skimpy but portions were otherwise fine. Service was good. I ordered delivery when I was ill and the food was just not that great and not what I ordered. I ordered a Caesar salad and it had tomatoes on it and no Parmesan. The Reuben was soggy and kind of tough. Maybe they were having an off day. I'd definitely give them another shot just to see if it's any better.
