Mary was recommended to me and I contacted her while she was on vacation (NOT intentionally!). She responded right away despite being out of town. After consulting about my date and order she wasn't able to take my order, but she did help me and made recommendation for a baker in the area she likes and trusts. I'm sad I couldn't utilize her services, but I will definitely call again and recommend her for her customer service and attention alone! Absolutely fantastic! We are so glad we booked Sophisticakes by Mary for our wedding this past summer. Communication was always timely. Our first appointment included taste testing; it was our favorite part of all the wedding planning. On the wedding day, everything was perfect with delivery and setup; I didn't have to worry about a thing! Our guests LOVED the cake and cupcakes, and we did too! Mary's cakes were not only beautiful but delicious. From our first cake tasting to the week of the wedding, she was a pleasure to work with. Each layer of our cake was a different flavor. Working with Mary was fantastic! Since we really didn't know what we wanted, she helped talk me through the design process, and allowed us to choose 3 different cake flavors for our evening. (too many delicious options!) One of the few regrets my husband and I have from our wedding is that we didn't get the time/opportunity to eat more of her cake at our reception. We looked up Sophisticakes by Mary after a recommendation from the hotel we had booked for our wedding reception, and we're delighted we did! Mary was very responsive on email and worked with our complicated travel schedules to arrange a "take home" tasting so we could select our cake flavors and frosting. While we didn't stretch her much as an artist (her gallery proves that she's as much a sculptor as a baker), she was very attentive to our simpler aesthetic and produced exactly the grand, elegant wedding cake we had hoped for. My husband and I chose to find local small business vendors and found a flyer for Sophisticakes by Mary at our local gym. Mary is such a bubbly and fun person she was hired on the spot at our first meeting . We all seemed to enjoy our fun visits to discuss our needs. I had a vision in mind for what I wanted in a cake and so did my groom. Mary did more than an amazing job in combining our visions and making quite a stunning masterpiece. The cake was so spectacular I actually cried when I saw it displayed at our reception. We were slow to pick a cake topper and asked Mary to put something (nontraditional) together for us. We used a cross and a willow tree figurine. I couldn't have had as perfect a placement as she had. We were blown away. I also made on-going friends with Mary and we try to get together for lunch and always bubbly conversation. Mary and my decorator Elfi with Fairy Tales of Flowers have become the best of friends as well. We even all enjoyed a lunch together after all of the festivities.
