Dr.  Slone has been a great facilitator that has enabled me to view life situations from a different perspective.  Working on positive strategies in my life has been very beneficial in my day-to-day activities and understanding my environment.  He  is attentive and promotes open two way conversations.   I have been going to his office weekly over the last few months and I appreciate how the sessions have progressed.  Again, the positive strategy development has been great!!!His office is nice and easy to access from the parking lot.  Parking is easy too. Dr. Slone is exactly what one would hope for in a therapist. He is compassionate, trustworthy, and highly skilled, all of which have been consistently demonstrated from the start of our first session. Additionally, he is observant, a great listener and it's very easy to talk to him, even when talking about difficult subjects. I've been seeing him for about two months now and plan to continue working with him as long as needed. His approach has been very effective for my needs. There have already been a number of positive changes in problematic areas of my life that I never imagined could be so quickly and easily resolved. His office is very comfortable and conveniently located. He recently moved into a new office across the street from his old location. The reviews mentioning his basement office (which was actually really nice and calming) are referring to his old office. His current office is on the second floor with large windows and plenty of sunlight. Also, parking has been quite easy at his new location. I would recommend Dr. Slone without hesitation to anyone considering therapy. He is truly a warm and caring therapist. More...

I've had three sessions with Dr. Slone and already have experienced positive outcomes. As someone who spends a lot of time in my head worrying, his methods are helpful and solution-focused. He has supported me in breaking down some of the most overwhelming aspects of my life, creating an action plan for how to solve them, and holding me accountable to them. Many things which seem completely unmanageable and mammoth when mulling them over in my head, he has help me shed light on, accept, or change. He helps me fact check circumstances, diffusing the negative self-talk. I look forward to our continued work together, more solution, and greater inner peace. More...

I've been seeing Dr. Slone for around a month in my effort to unpack and correct my compulsive spending/shopping addiction, and he's been a tremendous help. He listens patiently and asks really thoughtful questions, which helps me reflect on my own behaviors, experiences, and thoughts, and the "homework" (activities like journalling my mood throughout the day, short and long-term goals I hope to achieve through therapy, and general mindfulness) we decide on really help me to stay focused until our next appointment. This is my first time seeing a therapist, and while it was pretty scary to go and I still get a bit nervous before each session, he's demeanor is really calming and non-judgmental and my anxiety leading up to each visit has gotten less and less.Tips for those who are going to see Dr. Slone for the first time:- His office is located in the basement/parking level of the Kaiser Permanente building; his office is really nice and relaxing, but there aren't any windows and it's definitely subterranean.- Parking's kind of a chore in the parking lot off to right side/back if you're turning in on Mareblu; I recommend driving in between the two medical buildings and there's another parking lot that's much closer to his office.- It's cash-only (at specialist office visit fee), at least for me; there's a Citibank nearby and an ATM at the 7-11 by the OHOP around the corner if you're forgetful like me. I have tried therapy in the past and have found it self indulgent and pointless.  This is not the case with Dr. Sloane, you will be doing real work.  I am starting a new chapter in my life that is unknown and uncomfortable.  Dr. Sloane is helping me navigate my thoughts and feelings into being understood and constructive.  Doing this "heavy lifting" is uncomfortable, but, this is why I go.  Even though we explore difficult conversations I am easily able to be honest both with Dr. Sloane and myself, which, has not always been the case.  He will often stop for clarification or with more questions.  I very much look forward to my weekly appointments.  It is a great comfort to have such a wonderful professional to guide me.  Last week I was going through issues and reached out to him days before my session.  He wanted to know what was going on and fit me in for an earlier appointment.  Although, I am new to working with Dr. Sloane he has given me real hope for my future.  I will update me posts as my therapy continues. The qualities that Dr. Slone possesses are excellent listening skills, a non-judgmental approach, and he is extremely intelligent and well educated.  Dr. Slone does not engage in passive listening wherein his clients / patients talk and Dr. Slone listens and then simply "parrots back" what the client has stated himself/herself.  Instead, he is willing to give his educated opinions relative to his clients' life situations and recommend courses of action.  Too many times mental health professionals are not willing to share their insight with the faulty notion that the client has to identify their own negative behavior patterns and dream up their up own solutions.  Frankly, I do not know the answers to the questions I raise in therapy and do not think it is cost effective to pay a professional to simply observe while I struggle with such daunting questions.  I wanted and now have "an active participant" in my mental healthcare, Dr. Barry Slone. With the benefit of treatment from Dr. Slone I am now in the most healthy romantic relationship I have ever been in.  When my boyfriend needed mental health advice, I turned to Dr. Slone once again, success.  My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed talking with Dr. Slone and appreciated Dr. Slone's advice when he could not quite develop a candid dialogue with his own therapist.  Dr. Slone was able to reach across cultural and religious barriers and be an skilled and non-judgmental listener for my boyfriend and bring him closer to problem resolution.I am thrilled to recommend Dr. Slone as the best psychologist in Orange County!
