Smokin Stan’s is definitely in my top 3 favorite places to eat in Norfolk. The BBQ is great, Stan and Dee are absolutely the sweetest, and their apple crisp is like taking a bite of heaven! I will always be a customer here!

very disappointed, took home 1 1/2 lb. of brisket, potato salad and cole slaw! the potato salad was about the only thing edible. Cole slaw was sour and threw away, brisket was very very dry! We stopped here today for the first time and the smoke smell outside draws you in. The woman server at the counter when we came in was very friendly and gave us menu's and told us how to order. Another woman in the kitchen was also very nice. Both makes you feel welcome. I ordered the brisket sandwich meal with a side of baked beans. It was great, tender with great flavor, no sauce was needed. My wife ordered the mini mini nachos meal with a side of slaw. It was fantastic. You can order this as nachos, mini nachos or mini mini. She was happy because even the mini mini is a lot of food. The inside was spotless. Great people with great food. Only disappointment is that we live 112 miles away. We will drive back again though. Smokin Stan's is smokin' good! Â We are always on the hunt for great bbq and Smokin Stan's did not disappoint. Â The ribs were tender and had a great smoke (not oven baked) to them, and the sauce was just an added bonus but definitely not the main attracting. Â The brisket, oh my, that brisket was beautifully prepared (meat lover here!) and very lean with no sign of fat anywhere. Â Sorry, but the only reason I could not give a 5 star rating is my opinion of the two sides I ordered. Â While the baked beans were great, the potato salad was a huge disappointment. Â My 2 cents: try a southern recipe, Stan. Â Hire a potato slicer (no frozen potatoes), add some mustard and pickle relish and voila, you'll have a hit. Â We're from California and don't frequent the Norfolk area but I highly recommend anyone going through that town to stop in for a taste. Â The home-style hospitality will be the icing on the cake or crisp (lol)! Â For 1st timers, the young lady taking our order was so kind and patient and explained every detail. I was in town for work from NYC and had lunch here. This place is excellent. I was in Austin Texas a couple of weeks ago and ate bbq in several famous places that were great, but Stan's is better than any of them for Brisket and Ribs
