Excellent food, excellent service, excellent beer. First time in LP, just happened upon Smoke Signals walking down the street. Came up from WNY for the weekend, this place is top notch. The Ghost Pig Blonde is awesome. The habanero smoked wings were very good. The best was the ADK Gold Chicken Sandwich. We will definitely look forward to coming back in the future. Very Good BBQ. Service was solid and we were absolutely stuffed when we walked out of the place. The Pork wings, which were a special which was smoked Baby backs which got a quick fry and then glazed with their house BBQ sauce, may have been in the top 5 ribs I have eaten, and I have eaten a lot of ribs. Stopped in for some yummy food after a long day of hiking to find the place quite busy and full of laughter and yummy smelling food. The bar has a couple of TV's and a good number of chairs for guests looking to drink. The restaurant itself is a good size with I think an upstairs area? They also have a patio overlooking the beautiful Mirror Lake for warmer weather which I imagine must be just fantastic. I came in for a takeout and after some strange confusion about whether they were doing them or not? I ordered their chipotle bbq pulled pork sandwich and swapped the house chips for bacon mac and cheese. The sandwich was super good with an interesting kick to it's yummy bbq flavor. I found it a little on the dry side and some extra sauce would have done the trick for sure. The mac was fantastic with big chunks of smoky bacon in their home made large shell mac and cheese. We had searched reviews for a while to determine where to eat in Lake Placid for our first visit. Smoke Signals did not make the short list, however we had decided to make a decision while strolling the street. We were looking at the menu posted outside the restaurant and a group of people were leaving and we heard them say “well that sure was worth the wait”. So we decided that was a good enough endorsement for us. The restaurant is a good size and the tables turn over at a good pace. The girl at the front said 30min wait and I don’t think we even waited that long. Our server Lori was great and we tried the sampler for two as she recommended which was really good. The restaurant has a bar vibe to it and was a little rowdy at the bar but everyone was having a good time so we didn’t mind. My husband and I got the sampler platter for two. Bring your appetite - the portions are huge. We easily could've shared just the regular sampler, but that's okay. We boxed up the leftovers to take home. The sampler platter comes with beef brisket, bbq ribs, and pulled pork, plus two sides. We chose the cheddar bacon Mac and cheese and fries. The fries were seasoned pretty heavily, but delicious. I wasn't in love with the Mac and cheese, but my husband ate it all and said it was great. The brisket and the pulled pork were delicious. I personally really loved the ribs. So tender and delicious. The atmosphere was fine. We got there right at the start of dinner time, so our service was very prompt, but it did start to get really busy right around 5 pm. The staff did a great job, though, and everyone was very friendly. The view of the lake is beautiful if you're lucky enough to be seated by the windows in back. My wife and I got dinner here over the summer. We got the sample platter and it was some of the BEST BBQ EVER! Sat out on the back deck looking over the lake. Beutiful! You will wait on the weekend and that's because it's the likely the best, if not one if the best places to eat in the area. Worth it. Have a beer they have a lot of good choices on tap. Interesting place, Very noisy - between the rock music and wood chairs scraping on wood floor. The servers are even screaming because it's so loud. It needs to be addressed. My dry rub wings had potential but were very dry and not moist. The cornbread was very hard and not tasty. Mashed potatoes are good but salty. I don't drink - they need to offer some mock tails. This is probably the best barbecue I have ever had. We started with their smoked wings covered in their house bbq sauce. It was the best wing I've ever had in my life. For my entree I had the hanger steak with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. It was perfectly cooked with great portion sizes! Would recommend to anyone coming to lake placid! More...

One of the best places for BBQ. Before it was open there was already a line but totally worth the wait. I got the smoked briskets French Dip and it was delicious. I could only eat half because there was so much meat and cheese. It was heavy and greasy deliciousness. My daughter got the 3 meat taco and they were equally delicious.
