Our blue heeler Percy was a hot mess - anxiety, barking, nipping, pulling, lunging at other dog…you name it, he had it. I called in Patriot Dog Training STL and he set up our 6 week course, working the schedule through schedule changes, catching COVID, and even came on holidays.
I came to Brandon with a litany of issues but he insisted that we start from the basics and develop boundaries, instill confidence in Percy, and train us better on proper reinforcement and consistency. The training was brilliant, and totally opened my eyes up to a whole different way of thinking about training. Brandon did a superb job of explaining the *why* and demonstrating the *how* incorporating both positive reinforcement and fair pressure that was far more effective than just saying “NO” and hoping for the best.
Percy is a whole new dog now. Even though we didn’t directly cover specific negative behaviors like barking in the car, or nipping us during play, or lunging at other dogs, he now has more confidence, and we have a better understanding of how to enforce boundaries so he actively and consistently makes better decisions with confidence. My wife and I just adopted a 1 year old shepherd mutt from the humane society. Our previous dog spoiled us. He was never any trouble and just seemed to do everything right.
This dog is something else and we decided we wanted some professional training to help change some of his undesirable behaviors. We chose Patriot Dog Training. We selected the "train at home" option, but they offer several packages to meet all needs. With this option, Patriot teaches you how to train your dog in your home. Brandon from Patriot is polite and punctual. He asks questions and quickly learns your concerns about your dog's behavior. He is very efficient. The whole time he is demonstrating the training exercises, he is also sharing insights as to why he trains in the manner he does and also what's going on with your dog - dispelling a lot of incorrect notions about why dogs do what they do.
I am very pleased with the results I got from the money I spent on Patriot training. I feel the price charged is very reasonable for the results I got. When I am out on walks with my dog Tuck, I receive repeated comments from neighbors about what a good boy he is or how much his behavior has improved if they knew him before training started. Consider me a satisfied customer and take this as my recommendation if you are looking for a dog trainer.

We reached out to Patriot Dog Training STL looking for guidance on training our American Bulldog puppy and building up her confidence. LETS be honest, at 80lbs and a year old, we needed to make sure we were prepared for any situation we could encounter. Brandon was great with Benji. When I first got him, he was terrible at walking on a leash, had bad separation anxiety and had absolutely no training with even basic commands.
In six sessions, Benji has learnt all the basic commands and we enjoy our daily walks in the parks. Benji is a more confident dog! It has been a life changing experience thanks to Brandon and PatriotSTL dog training :)

Highly recommend training with Brandon! I can’t thank him enough for all the work he did with our corgi. What do you love most about your job?
Getting the chance to help so many dogs and their owners bridge the gap between is truly my favorite thing about training. I enjoy affirming with dog owners that there really aren’t bad dogs, just misunderstood dogs that need help communicating.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have been fortunate to be handling dogs since I was roughly four years old. Through the years and experiences I've realized a lot of people don't know how to approach dogs properly, but it doesn’t have to be this way. I started Patriot Dog Training STL to offer an economic option to pet owners that way a 1-on-1 training experience that is effective, but doesn’t break the bank.
Why should our clients choose you?
Above all else, if you are looking for a trainer to work with your beloved pet, you want them to be honest with you about how to safely and effectively train your dog. My sole interest is to improve the relationship between you and your dog and still allow for there to be that bond we all seek, but with boundaries added in to mark behaviors we don’t like to see. Balance is key here.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I do not actively seek to offer online/remote training for pet owners because there is a great deal of benefit lost in doing so for the dog and the owner. From my experience, seeing a dog that has been exclusively trained remotely, without intentional distractions and healthy socializing outside the home, the training is not nearly as effective in more stressful situations, which is when it really counts.
In-Home Private Training
Private in-home dog training sessions are available in Greater St. Louis, Saint Charles, and Franklin County.
Each training session is 1-hour to allow for verbal instruction, trainer demonstration, and practicum demos with you and your dog.
Private sessions allow for pet owners to ask as many questions as necessary and avoid the group-class dynamic.

Complimentary Zoom Consult (before you book)
Virtual Consults are available to all people and pets that want to learn more about training with me before paying for sessions.
This virtual consult is booked using Zoom Meetings and runs for 20-30 minutes to answer all your questions so you know you are hiring the right trainer.
