This facility is so wonderful. My doggo, Nemo, had pretty severe fear anxiety/aggression issues since my husband and I adopted him 2 years ago. My husband passed away from cancer a few months ago and it was becoming increasingly difficult for me to handle Nemo on my own. I couldn't have people over and I couldn't find a dog sitter because of how aggressive Nemo was, so I was becoming very isolated, as was Nemo. My mom got me the 21 day board and train package for a graduation present and it completely transformed Nemo. He still has a ways to go, but he has more trust in me and has stopped trying to run the show. Sit means sit answered every time I called and put me at ease. Nemo is all I have left of my life with my husband and he is a huge comfort to me. I was really scared to send him away for 3 weeks. The owner sat down with me and told me more about the program before I brought Nemo in and completely put my mind at ease. He told me that they had handled severe cases like nemo before and that they would take every precaution to keep him and those around him safe. My baby boy is on his way to a happier and more active life because of this awesome group of people. I highly recommend them! More...

My husband and I have 5 dogs. At the time we put 4 through the program because we did not have the 5th one. My oldest dog is 12 years old with no training. I soon got 2 more dachshunds and then a German Shepherd. Being that the 3 dachshunds had no training, we knew it was irresponsible on our part to have a bigger dog that was untrained. When I dropped off my first two (German Shepherd 6 mo. & dachshund 1 yr) I told Ryan, good luck! LOL They are very energetic since they are puppies and the GS was already taking in bad habits from the little ones. Always barking, was getting on top of our counters, very reactive. Typical dog stuff. After a couple days we received videos of them walking by other dogs and no barking! I was witnessing a miracle! After 2 weeks we got them back and we saw a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. Dogs are dogs, so of course they are still a little reactive and bark, but it's much much much MUCH EASIER to stop it! No more haggling. I say quiet and they're quiet! Especially with as many dogs as we have, we had no idea how to train them all at once. Then they took in the other two dachshunds. The 12 year old and the 5 year old who are the most spoiled. To my surprise they were very disciplined the first couple of days! The little ones always pulled on the leash and was starting to hurt my shoulder. Not anymore!! They all walk beside me with no tugging. So now my husband walks the GS while I walk the 3 dachshunds. And yes they are actually pretty good at walking all together. IT IS POSSIBLE!Now that we have another puppy, a GSD Shar Pei mix, we have him into training too. Since the other dogs are into their routine, he falls into place. We also got him a place mat, and an ecollar. Not only does this program know how to train your dog, they are also very passionate and loving about it. You can tell they love your dog like it was their own. They are also very knowledgeable about the raw food diet. I highly suggest talking to them about it. I want to say a huge thank you to Jaden and Sam too who helped make this possible! Also, being that this is basically a franchise for dog training, it was a HUGE PLUS for being in a military family. Training is every week for the lifetime of the dog, so your dog can interact with other dogs that have been through the same program. My husband and I are moving across the country due to military orders, and we don't have to worry about the dogs not socializing with other trained dogs. They have someone out there too! I hope they are just as great as Ryan, Sam, and Jaden! We are truly going to miss this little family! More...

Long overdue review! We rescued our little blue nose pitbull from the shelter in Martinez CA in 2017. He was a timid 5-6 year old boy who was clearly mistreated by his previous owners and as a result of that very nervous around men and would get fearful and nip out of fear. Ryan first boarded Xander for 5 days to get a sense how he is and the type of personality he has to prepare him for group training sessions. With about 6 months of group training as well as plenty of socializing, I can say that Xanders results are like night and day. Today he is more submissive and allows for a proper Introduction between himself and men whom he doesnt know. Thank you Ryan and team for all of your hard work! More...

Sending our puppy to Sit means Sit for the 2 week program with Kerry has been life changing for our entire family. He is still his fun loving self but his behavior is 100% better. He is happy, we are happy. No one is yelling. We had him only in two rooms because he was so hyper anyplace else. Now he goes everywhere with us. He goes upstairs and he is calm, calm, calm. What a difference training has made! I was walking my dog daily with stress and apprehension...trying to avoid crossing paths with other dogs, their owners, pedestrians (even school kids waiting at bus stops) and bicyclists as my dog would lunge and bark looking crazily aggressive. Now that we have an understanding of how it’s supposed to work as to who is in control, both my dog and I are enjoying our outings. Yippee! Thankyou Julie and Kris! More...

Very glad I found Ryan and his team. My goldendoodle used to be super friendly, but developed aggressive behaviors towards other dogs after a few biting accidents. I was very sad and felt very sorry for him as we could on longer take him to dog parks and off-leash areas for fun.We came to Ryan ~half year ago and did the board and train for 3 weeks.  I was a bit skeptical about e-collar training like most of people. However, I do think with professionals like Ryan to guide you, it could be a very effective tool for training. I like the fact that the group classes afterwards are free life-time long. The group classes are super fun for both dog and human, and work the dog's brain and sharpens their focus at the same time. Moreover, with Ryan and team's supervision, it creates a very safe environment for your dog to interact with other dogs. My dog loves to play with other dogs and never showed any aggression during the free play time in class (to my big big surprise...).And I think my dog is regaining his confidence more and more when around other dogs after these couple months of work. But it definitely still requires ongoing effort. And I am glad Ryan is on my side to help me with all the questions I have. More...

Having my dog trained at Sit Means Sit has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself and for my dog. Sit Means Sit gave her the obedience training that she really needed. She was a stubborn little thing, and the trainer, Alyssa, did a great job with her. I feel more confident knowing that my dog will listen to me and won't chew everything in sight. Also, all of the employees there treat your dog like their own, which is a huge reason why I went with them. I worked mainly with Victoria, Kristin and Justin and they are awesome. They did so well training our 6 month old German Shepherd. They also take the time to make sure you understand how to continue the training at home and how to control your dog. The other great thing about this program is the option of having someone come to your house and work on issues that you have in your home. Although it’s a smidge pricey it’s worth it as you get a lifetime membership and can call them at any point in the future and they’re there for you. SMS South Bay did a wonderful job with our dog Myko. He is a very sweet dog but has fear aggression towards people and dogs, which made walking him on the leash very difficult since he is unpredictable and very strong. It got to the point where we dreaded walking him because if we encountered another person or dog Myko would go nuts and become uncontrollable (he pulled us down a few times). After the board and train, Myko is so much better. He can now be walked and remain under control, and remain focused during group classes where there are distractions of people and other dogs. He's not perfect, but he keeps improving the more classes we attend (which are free after board and train) and our whole family can now breathe a sigh of relief. Training a dog is a lifelong process that you have to keep working at, but the SMS South Bay method has really worked well for our dog. Myko responds well to the e-collar (much better than the previous prong one we used). Also, with a big dog, the e-collar method is much easier (does not require the person handling the dog to be strong) and more humane (don't have to yank on it). Now, Myko overall has more confidence and is more calm. Myko absolutely loves all of the trainers, who worked so hard to help him and patiently gained his trust (Jayden, Sam, Lizzy, and Ryan of course). During the group classes we get special attention when we need it and we really appreciate how dedicated the whole team is to seeing Myko succeed. Thank you SMS South Bay! More...

Sit means sit is an absolutely amazing dog trainer. We have a retriever mix who had just about every anxiety problem you could imagine. He was insecure, he would bark for HOURS when left alone, destroy every thing in his sight, pee and poop anywhere he wanted, he hated anyone who came into the house and bark bark barked. We couldn't have him anywhere near other dogs, he was overprotective of me. He was a train wreck. After coming home from his 4 weeks board and train, I thought they gave me the wrong dog. He was barely making noise right off the plane. He sat immediately after being told when I disassembled his crate for the car ride home. It was almost like he was tired but he wasn't. It's not been easy since he's been home, but it's not the way it use to be either. I have to use higher collar pressure sometimes because he's stubborn. Sometimes he has accidents in the house and sometimes he gets into the trash when home alone Bear is 4 years old and has always been this wayBUT its been 2 month since he came back home and I haven't heard him bark when left alone, we can go on walks and pass other dogs, people, bikes, etc.. his confidence is through the roof now. He's so happy and energetic. He loves everyone who comes over. Correcting 4 years worth of unwanted behavior certainly has its challenges but with dedication, it's possible! The training doesn't end when your dog comes home, that's where it truly begins. Scott and his crew are dedicated to seeing your doggo succeed. We had to reschedule Bears training 2-3 times because he had TPLO surgery twice and they were completely understanding. Scott is so quick to answer any questions or concerns you might have. When guests come over, they always say how well behaved Bear is and how quickly he responds to a command. It's changed our life and made Bear the happy, confident dog he was meant to be. I would recommend to anyone with any dog issues. They know what they're doing because they've seen it all. They are also trainers for life. If you move, you're covered. If doggo regresses, you're covered. When life happens, they've got you covered. More...

We have a 7 month old dogo argentino.  We had been working on training her ourselves.  We had mild success.  She is an extremely powerful dog and mild success was not adequate.  When she decided to do what she wanted to it was difficult to stop her.  Long story short we went on a week vacation and needed to board her so we decided to spend the extra for a board and train.   We called several trainers on Oahu and Sit Means Sit on Maui.  The off island fact made them Our last choice when we made the list.  However, they were extremely responsive and professional.  Not pushy or put out by our inquiries and questions.  They sent over a good information package with videos.  They quickly rose up our list and finally we opted to go with Sit Means Sit.  Our dog,Hina, did a 10 day board and train.  She came back a different dog.  Still loving and puppy as ever but we were able to control her 100% of the time.  Her obedience is exponentially greater.  SCOTT did 2 follow up visits a week apart at our home.  Both were simple and to the point.  He explained how she was trained so we could understand the training philosophy and how to use the ecollar. The following week was a tune up for us which was very helpful In sharpening our skills.  I would and have recommended Sit Means Sit to friends.   Hi as obedience has made us much more comfortable taking her to public places and having her around other animals.  If you don't know dogos google them.  They are very trainable but also powerful bodies and personalities.   Thank you Scott More...

SMS in Austin has been amazing. Bella, my 4 yr old German Shepherd and I have been in training with them for almost a year. No one else would work with Bella as she was aggressive towards strangers and other dogs and is 85lbs. SMS didn't hesitate. Don't know what I would have done without them. The trainers are so professional, helpful, knowledgeable, patient, with both the dogs and the people. I don't know how but they notice everything in class even with so many dogs. Especially catching and praising when your dog or you does something good or stepping in to help and redirect when your in trouble. They are hands-on, return phone calls and emails, and have even come to my house to help when I was stuck. In the board and train we got weekly videos of Bella's progress. I can't say enough about the staff. I haven't met one of them yet that I don't feel 100% confident with. A special acknowledgement to Kelli, can't say enough good things about her. literally-WOW. Sit Means Sit was the best thing I could have done for my dog.  For years I have been unable to enjoy my dog, especially when my dog took me for a walk when I wanted to spend quality time with him.  As a result, he stayed in the house or backyard, never leaving because he would not take any directions as the world revolved around him.  Several friends and family members took their dogs to this training with amazing results.  I thought I would give it a try as I did want to enjoy my dog and up to this point in his young life, there was not a lot of enjoyment going on.After two weeks of training - WOW!! My dog is in a great place now, fun to be around and I can take my dog for a walk now and lead him instead of he leading me!!  I take my dog out at least once a day and as I am getting my exercise and enjoyment, my dog is getting the same, right by my side, not wanting to stray off even when a rabbit runs by!!  This has been the most worthwhile investment I have made since obtaining my Weimaraner four years ago.  After two weeks of being home since the training concluded, my dog is now walking with me off-leash (something I never envisioned).  The staff was absolutely amazing and Carolyn is the best!!  Although everyone had a hand in Ki's training, Carolyn made him the dog he is today with the loving patience that she had with him.  During the weekly aftercare training, Ki just loves to see her!!  To all the staff of Sit Means Sit, thank you!!  You all are great and a pleasure to be with and around whenever we see you at training!!
