This is a great environment for owners and puppers. Trainers really help you through the process. My dog demands the trainers’ love and attention when she walks in the room. It means she loves the people there because they have such positive energy that makes training fun and effective. More...

I was so impressed with Wes and how he interacted with my dogs and myself at our consultation, it was truly a “Shut Up and take my money! ” moment. Everyone at their facility is very nice and professional. Even though I wasn’t able to keep up with the classes due to my schedule, he taught me how to work with my dogs. We had a great experience using Sit Means Sit’s board and train program for our dog Belle. When we picked her up she was a well-trained version of her spunky self! We are having fun continuing her training and pushing her to learn more. We are so happy with the training and care she receives every time we visit Sit Means Sit! More...

We started looking for a new trainer when our old one just wasn't working out. I came across Sit Means Sit and called them. Casey, an owner, took the time and spoke with me answering all of my questions (and I had a lot of them). I liked what I heard so we set up a FREE evaluation session with Wes, owner/head trainer to see how things operated there. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED. Wes was extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient. He went over areas of training we needed to start with and gave us several ideas on how best to accomplish them. He then went over different training package options for us to look over. NOT ONCE WERE WE EVER PRESSURED TO SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING. Well we've been going for a couple of months now and our fur baby has improved drastically. Wes and the other trainers at the facility are POSITIVE, PATIENT, KIND, KNOWLEDGEABLE, ENTHUSIASTIC AND AMAZING TO WORK WITH. I'm so grateful that I found this trainer. I highly recommend them to everyone. More...

I highly recommend Wes and Sit Means Sit dog training! My dog was completely out of control and I could no longer manage him at all! After just a few sessions with Wes, he's had a complete turn around!! He is behaving better than I could have ever asked for! Wes and his wife are amazing people and provide great customer service! I even boarded my dog with them for a weekend and couldn't have felt more at ease leaving town knowing he was in great hands! They took awesome care of him and even picked him up and dropped him back off to me! More...

We inherited a 2 1/2 year old German Shepard with a sweet disposition and absolutely zero manners, training, interest in people in general or interest in food as a reward. At 75lbs she jerked me around like a toy sock. Without Wes teaching us how to train her we could not have been able to keep her. Today, a year and a half later she serves as valuable service dog to me. The only things she hasn't learned to do are things I have yet to learn to teach her. SIT MEANS SIT services are not cheap. But If you consider the value of a dog well trained over the course of the 10 or more years they will be with you, the cost becomes reasonable. Base package includes ongoing weekly refresher classes where one can get answers to questions or just keep up with the most basic level of training. I believe there is also a package that includes all specialty classes which he runs regularly. You can also purchase enrollment on a class by class basis. I have not much success with that but others have. If time is your problem and money is not an obstacle you can put your unruly dog in his hands and he can return to you a well trained animal. Wes himself is very personable, patient , professional. He is an excellent teacher of both canines and humans. I would not hesitate to reccommend his services or his methods to anyone in need of them. More...

Sit means Sit has been the best thing that has happened to our Dogs. We began working with Wes and Sit Means around September 2013, and our dogs especially our Doberman have been transformed. Before signing up I was constantly yelling at our dogs because it seemed that is the only time they would listen or even respond to me. Our Doberman respected no fence boundries, would pull me down the side walk when on a leash, or chased birds like crazy. If we went to the beach, I couldnt enjoy it because I had to keep a constant eye on her. If we were around anyone and we let her off lease she would be gone chasing birds and there was no coming back till she had no more energy. My husband and I were constantly stressed. Now none of that is an issue. We have a completely different dog. Both dogs not only mind now but are more loving as well too. When in public now, people ask what we did to get our dogs to act so well. We are glad to tell them about Wes and Sit Means Sit. He and his Wife are awesome. Very easy to schedule with and respond quickly to any questions you may have. Wes makes learning to train your dog and the group classes fun for all! I highly recommend Wes and Sit Means Sit to anyone wanting a better behaved dog, and to strengthen your own bond with your dog! More...

After hearing so many great things about Wes and Sit Means Sit we decided to send both our 2 year old MinPin and our 8 month old Boxer to Wes. Let me tell you that the MinPin is awesome, yet a bit skittish and very obstinate. The Boxer is amazing and so loveable too, but timid and immature. Wes took them separately, but in succession, so we could work with one before the other returned. ----- I could say a million great things, but here are the high points. Wes is amazing and loves these dogs like they are his own! He is great with us and our kids as we learn this new amazing process. And our wonderful dogs are happier, well behaved, and have developed a great sense of pride in their accomplishments. Our family couldn't be happier. Don't even look anywhere else for dog training! You must use Wes and Sit Means Sit! Thank you Wes! We are huge fans and will continue to tell everyone to use your services. LuLu and Nala say thanks too! More...

So the guy in the red shirt came out to my house for a demo. As soon as he pulled up my Big Dog headed deep into the briars. Normally, Big is jumping all over the gate when anyone pulls up. I had invited Sit Means Sit out for an aggression issue with two other dogs. When the trainer came in the gates Big actually went further into the bushes. Anyway, the demo was great and I was all set to sell it to my husband who was frustrated with the dogs. But a strange thing happened when my husband came home from work....all of the dogs behaved beautifully on just about every issue. Well so I start to explain over dinner looking out the window at the dogs. As I was explaining the training, Big was correcting the younger dogs if they broke any rules. Long story short, my dog's behavior issues just vanished within 3 days of the demo. Since Big Dog was a stray, I believe that he must have had Sit Mean Sit training in a former home and he just passed it on to the pups. Thank you Sit Means Sit. I know I never needed you after the one visit, but I credit you with the Big change in my dogs' behavior. More...

We became proud owners of a yellow lab that was rescued from a puppy mill in San Antonio. For years past I've always trained my own dogs, mainly because I had the time and my schedule allowed me. Fast forward several years and a new dog. My schedule doesn't allow me the time I need to really work with the new pup...so, a good friend in Austin who is an award winning dog trainer known all over the world (and of course 3 hours away from me) recommended I look into Sit Means Sit. I took their recommendation and called Sit Means Sit Corpus Christi. I was a little concerned that they would take us as clients because we live approximately 30 miles from Corpus but was assured by the Sit Means Sit staff that Rockport was not an issue so we scheduled our initial consultation.

Our first visit with Sit Means Sit was with Wes Wirick. Wes came over on a Tuesday evening in July for a "meet and greet" with us and our dog. Part of the initial visit is for the trainer to give a demonstration of how they handle the dog during training as well as teach it a random command. Wes was clearly a dog lover and was extremely patient and gentle with our pup. Most lab owners know that a lab's attention span is about 3 inches long and you have to continually keep their attention. One of the first things I noticed about Wes was how upbeat and genuinely excited he was to be there-especially at 6pm on a Tuesday night knowing he had to drive 30 miles to/from to work with one. more. dog. Wes asked us a lot of questions about what we hoped to get out of the training and what results we were looking for. Being that she was a rescue she had some "skittish" tendencies when putting her collar or leash on. The first time we tried a collar/leash on her you would have thought we were beating her to death. She wanted nothing to do with it so we eventually gave up. We expressed this concern to Wes and he immediately went to work. Within 15 minutes he had her walking alongside him on a leash with zero issues. Our jaws hit the floor. We were sold. Wes went over the different plans available and told us a decision did not need to be made immediately, but to to look it over, discuss it amongst ourselves and get back to him once we decided. Of all the packages offered, we chose for Wes to board her for a week to allow him to get some quality one on one time with her w/o distraction. Because of the timing of when he was able to pick her up she was able to spend a couple of extra days with him. We stayed in touch with Wes and received updates every couple of days on her progress. We couldn't wait to get her home! Several days later Wes returned with her and it was as though we had a brand new dog. She knew all of the basic commands and was pleasantly much calmer. Most surprisingly is that she was now sleeping through the night and we were not having to get up with her every couple of hours. Wes emphasized consistency with us working with her every day, even if for a few minutes. Part of the package we chose included several follow up sessions to reinforce our training techniques as well to give some additional commands and tricks to keep things fun. Unfortunately after 2 of those follow up sessions we had a visit from Hurricane Harvey on August 25th. As with many people throughout the Coastal Bend our lives were turned upside down with the devastation that hit our wonderful town. With the evacuations and constant back/forth from San Antonio, getting repairs, cleaning debris, etc the training took a back seat. Once we had ourselves back in order we called Wes and rescheduled the remaining appointments. By the way, Sit Means Sit stayed in contact with us throughout the evacuation as well as post-Harvey clean up. They were genuinely concerned for everyone's well being. Finally, we had our lives back in order to a "new" normal. We had Wes back out to the house to hopefully pick up where we had left off (I was ashamed that I had let the dogs training schedule slip and hoped Wes would go easy on me). Within a few minutes Wes had her back to how she was prior to our interruption. This showed me that the basics were instilled in her and that she remembered what she had initially learned from him.

There are not enough good things I can say about our experience (sans the hurricane). If I were to get another dog tomorrow I would do it all over again with Wes and Sit Means Sit.

Our Sheepadoodle is a 20 month old lovable ball of energy. She was completely running our lives and frustrating us to no end with her stubbornness. We had gates all over the house because we couldn't trust her out of our sight. Wes has turned our Hannah into an obedient eager to please little girl. She now comes when called, will stay on a place, and best of all does not run like a wild women off leash. What he has taught us and her has resulted in an amazing transformation of our dog. We now are totally enjoying her and all of the gates are put away. I would highly recommend Wes. He is patient and very competent in his training technique. More...

I cannot say enough great things about Wes and Sit Means Sit. We contacted Wes when our Great Dane puppy was 15 months old and he is now 23 months. My husband and I were in desperate need of help with Walle. He was very anxious of new people and protective of me, not to mention the normal puppy antics. After the first session Wes had Walle performing basic commands. I was immediately blown away. Not long after training began Walle's teenage attitude showed up in overdrive and he started being even more reactive towards people and especially dogs. We were unable to attend the group classes because of his reactive behavior so Wes had us start attending the "reactive group class". This class along with Wes's one on one training saved Walle. He now greets new people (as long as they follow my direction) and doesn't react to other dogs as he once did (he still isn't crazy about his butt being sniffed, but who is?). He has improved so much we were invited back to the regular group class, which I'm proud to say Walle did amazing at! No reactive behavior :) Let me say the training is not only for the dogs, it's for the owners as well. I had to be trained as much as Walle, if not more. It's all about building trust and confidence. I feared Walle was going to forever be "that dog" but Wes proved us wrong and gave us the best gift ever, a better life for Walle. Thank you Wes and all the other trainers at Sit Means Sit who have worked with Walle!! More...

Last February I found Sit Means Sit at the home and garden show. I was at the end of my rope with trying to manage Darla's energy (my 2 yr old beagle). After consulting my veterinarian about this type of training he assured me that it was humane if done correctly and under guidance. We just recently finished our private lessons and we finally took the plunge into group lessons today. Uncertain about what to expect we gave it our all. To say there was plenty of distractions would be an understatement. She had been accomplishing the tasks given. She will always be my Darla girl and proud to call her my own. I enjoy walking and tried to walk with him but, wasn't worth the problems. Wes changed our lives from the first day he trained us. Yes, it was more difficult to train me than it was Max but we made it and now as we walk through Lowes people comment on how well behaved our Max is. I called Sit Means Sit after adopting Luke Skywalker from a rescue shelter, (named because the force is strong with this one). I was ready to send this beautiful Weimaraner back because I couldn't control him. He was pulling me across the yard with any distraction. Wes came out and within a 10 minute introduction, I was amazed. Luke was obeying his every command with no words. I hired Wes for 4 private lessons and unlimited group lessons and I couldn't be happier. Wes is amazing with not only the dog, but with teaching the owner how to train and deal with any situation. I had more challenges than most in that I have chickens and a closed gated yard that Luke needed to respect. Wes taught me how to handle him and Luke loved him. I am now confident that I can take this 75 lb boy anywhere and I will be in control. He brought out the best in this rescue dog and we are a pair for life. More...
