Sierra Madre Food Mart

We love trying out new places, so we ventured here a few times. First time was for their market for Halo Halo mixes. It's very clean and well stocked with various Filipino and other Asian groceries and snacks. They also have a good freezer selection from Longanisa to Dumplings to Shanghai Lumpia. The prices are slightly higher than other grocery stores. Our second visit was for their "Turo-Turo" (Point-Point) Lunch Dishes. Prices were very reasonable for rice, 2 side dishes and a drink it was $6.50. I think the fish dishes were extra. The portions are very good, and the food was delicious!  We tried various dishes from Bicol Express (coconut sauce), Chicken Adobo, Beef Caldereta, and some liver dish. They should consider serving Turon and Halo Halo, as they don't have any desserts there... but Red Ribbon and Christine's are down the block, so if you have a sweet tooth, take a quick walk or drive...The best part was their customer service. Came across this place with my mother after she got a eye exam across the street.  Finally home made Filipino food done right like my parents cooking when I was a kid. Everything is freshly cooked. Love this place. It's really clean and well lit compared to other Filipino food markets/grocery in the area. Nothing fancy, but they have a food court area where you can buy fresh made Filipino food. The combo is rice + 2 entree choices.Food is consistently good and fresh.Also the people who run it are really nice. My kids are allergic to a ton of stuff but had their puto and tinola without a problem, so I def love that! More...
