Shimmer N Shine co-founder, R.C., worked as a part-time cleaner back in 2017 while studying at Grand Canyon University. She very much enjoyed her part-time work and kept it throughout her studies. R.C. believes that if there is chaos in your mind, the best way to put your thoughts in order is to do cleaning. It was at this time in her life that the ideas that led to the formation of Shimmer N Shine started to develop.

Yes. We have handpicked the best and most efficient cleaning supplies for our cleaners to use. The only thing we dont provide are vacuums because of the possibility that soil, hair and bacteria maybe transported from one home to the next.

Cleaning gives you a sense of accomplishment because there's a beginning, a process, and a result. Being in a clean space can be both emotionally calming and uplifting. The physical activity of cleaning can relieve stress and be a bit of a workout.

As a single mother, R.C. had to find a job that allowed her to manage her schedule and bring her daughter along. Cleaning houses wasn’t something she had planned to do either, but the hours were “super flexible,” which is exactly what this single mom needed as she took college classes. R.C. was working on her degree in criminal justice when the business idea develoed. Her choices were to continue to go in debt earning her degree or start a business and earn money to pay for her degree and support her family.

Most of our time is spent recruiting cleaners and doing thorough background checks so we send only the best cleaners to your home. We realise that having quality cleaners is the key to our business and work our hardest to ensure all our domestic cleaners are honest and reliable. Each one is interviewed in their own home, ID checked and reference checked. Our entire service is designed for you. From the moment you get in touch with us your service and peace of mind are our main priorities. We'll get to work finding you a suitable cleaner to give you the best possible clean.

We are not providing online or remote services at this time.

We are in constant contact with all our cleaners and are asking them and yourselves to take all the precautions you can.
If you or anyone in your household have any symptoms, please let us and your cleaner know as soon as possible.
We have also informed our cleaners to do the same if they or anyone in their household displays any symptoms.
We have always ensured that the same cleaner attends the same clients each clean and that our cleaners only use the clients cleaning materials, to prevent cross-contamination.

Services

This usually takes around two to three hours. It involves dusting all surfaces and decorations, vacuuming carpets and mopping floors, changing beddings, plus cleaning the bathroom and kitchen. Perfect for: smaller properties such as apartments. Our regular cleaning service includes everything you need to get your home in order as quickly as possible.

More comprehensive than a regular clean. Deep cleaning involves moving furniture around so that we can blitz every last spider web and speckle of dust. Perfect for: larger houses and properties with pets.

An ‘extreme’ clean that usually happens before and/or after tenants vacate a property.

For advanced cleanings, you can add more services. Most extra cleaning add-ons add half an hour to the cleaning time. Add on services include: Window cleaning, cleaning inside of cabinets, cleaning inside of oven, cleaning inside of fridge and microwave, and laundry.

Making the house look occupied is the primary duty of any house sitter. To accomplish this, the house sitter needs to do more than just reside within the house. She will also turn lights on and off at night, leave a car in the driveway and be seen outside the house periodically clearly showing that someone is home. These actions greatly deter any potential break ins or vandalism that can occur when homes are thought to be empty.

Unless a separate pet sitter has been hired, any pets within the home are also the responsibility of the house sitter. This includes providing food, water, walks, poop scooping and litter box and cage cleaning while the owners are away. Pet-related duties include taking pets to the veterinarian as needed.
House sitters care for both the indoor and outdoor plants. Depending on the length of service, this may be limited to simple regular watering or can include lawn mowing and pruning.
House sitters bring in the mail and newspaper on a daily basis. Checking and forwarding phone messages may also be requested of the homeowner. Pool cleaning and maintenance falls within the responsibility of a house sitter as well. Additionally, the house sitter is responsible for getting any necessary home repairs (such as damage from a storm) completed at the homeowner’s expense. Whether the house sitter does the repairs or hires a contractor is a decision to be made by the homeowner.
