We met Mr. Shigley under the worst of circumstances.  Our son had been killed due to neglect, and I was injured badly in the crash that took our son's life. The death of a child is an unspeakable, unbearable loss.  To seek justice is why we have advocates.  Ken is not just "one of the best." He IS the best.  During the time he helped us, he explained things we didn't understand, and got to know the rest of our family.  Just by his example, we gained a much more compassionate view of how our justice system works and why it has to work the way it does.  While he was successful in our behalf, it was action that was tempered with wisdom, kindness and integrity.  While I really wanted bad things to happen to the person that turned our lives upside down, Ken quietly pointed out that it doesn't get worse than having to live with guilt.  Because of that insight, I learned first to pray for this individual...and eventually could forgive him.  While our son has not come back to life, we have learned to move forward. Hi, my name is Deborah Gage.  My son's name is Christopher David Gage.  In 2013 he was hit by another vehicle from the passenger side door.  He was in a coma for 31/2 weeks.  We were told he would not make it through the night.  A parents nightmare.  My son has a friend whose sister is a lawyer.  Through Melinda, we met Ken Shigley,  Ken normally does not work small cases such as Chris's case.  We were very blessed and honored that Ken took our case.  I firmly believe that God puts people in the right place at the right time.  From the beginning of my son's accident to the end.  We first met Ken in the cafeteria at Windy Hill Hospital, were my son was taken for rehab.  Ken has stood by our side throughout this whole ordeal concerning my son.  While we were taking care of Chris's medical issue's, for they were life altering decisions, Ken was there for all of his financial issue's. We did not have to deal with any of it, Ken took care of it.We were so overwhelmed with medical decisions, we also had financial issue's to deal with as well.  When we met Ken, he was just a lawyer that we hoped would make sure my son's needs would be met throughout his life.  I have never met anyone, especially in the professional field, that cares and treats their clients as a human being.  And not like he could care less about you as a person, but only as a "meal ticket".  If we ever needed anything financial or not, all we had to do was call Ken and he would take care of it.  We never had to worry about the hospital bills, Ken took care of it.  When the insurance was telling us they would not cover Chris going to Shepherd, we called Ken and he took care of it.  Chris was at Shepherd Center for 7 weeks.  We received bills, Ken's answer was fax me the bill.  He took care it.  Ken came to the hospital many times to see Chris, himself.  To check on him as a person, to see how he was doing.  He did not send someone else to do the job.  That means a lot to you, especially going through events with Chris, it meant a lot to us. If we ever called him, he always called back, himself,  He is an honest man with a big heart.  When Chris was released from the hospital, there was a 5-K run benefit held for him.  Ken ran that 5-K run. I do not know of many people that would do that.  Especially your Lawyer.  Ken is an honest, dependable (always there when you need him) man.  I highly recommend him as a Lawyer, and blessed to know him as a person.  By the way, Chris is doing great.  He had a Tramatic Brain Injury.  He is walking and healing everyday with the help of the Lord.  Ken keeps up with Chris thru facebook.  He also calls to see how he is doing periodically.  God put this man in our path and we were blessed with the results of his efforts.  Again, thank you so much Ken.Deborah Gage More...

Our son Chris was in a horrible car accident May 2013, and was left with a Tramatic Brain Injury. We were devastated and did not know who to contact or what to do. But little to our knowledge, God already had things under control. Chris has a very good friend that knew Ken, Thank God. Ken was told about the accident and came to our rescue. He has been a blessing, God does put people in our paths when we need them. He has made sure that Chris was taken care of financially and that his future is secure. He is very knowledgeable in law, and if we needed anything or anyone for anything he knew who to call or who to contact for that information. While we were tending to Chris, Ken tended to all of Chris's billing issue's. We did not have to deal with the stress of all the financial part at all. Ken took care of that for us.
