We had the most wonderful stay! Every member of the staff starting from the Front desk to the housekeeping staff was amazing! We saw our housekeeping staff everyday and they were all so cheerful and welcoming. We were upgraded to room 1424. The room was super clean and the view was great! We also rented a cabana at the pool. That's the only way to go if you're going to be at the pool all day. We paid $100 to rent it for the day. That included waters, cooler, and your own personal TV. This was a great hotel. I will preface my review by saying we booked this spot using points and upon arriving were upgraded to an amazing suite. Suite is totally recommended if there's any way you can swing it - it was a beautiful room, amazing views of the ocean and so close to the water that it felt as though you were on a cruise ship - when you looked out the window all you saw was blue water and blue sky. Big balcony spanned the entire length of the room and had doors out from both the living room and bedroom. Huge living room space with a big table for 6, large bedroom, and the bathroom was amazing - tub, shower with 2 showerheads, 2 sinks, separate room for toilet. Onto the more general review. Room was very clean and well-stocked and the finishes felt upscale. The resort itself was really nice, especially the grounds - loved all the tropical plants and flowers, and little ponds. Lobbies were really nice.  Lots of chairs set out for relaxing on the lawn and I loved the firepits with circles of chairs around them. Service was great - most of the staff we interacted with were super friendly and helpful. The pool never seemed to get that busy, always chairs available (although maybe not in the shade). The beach near the resort was nice and sandy, and the waves weren't too bad. The low point of the stay was breakfast at Lava's - very slow service and they seemed to be understaffed. On our second morning I asked multiple times for a glass of water and after not getting any I finally went to get my own water bottle and drank out of that at the table. Not ideal! We had the continental breakfast which was very basic (I had bagel and pineapple slices, with juice and coffee) but serviceable. I'd love to come back here some day! More...

We booked this hotel with a partial ocean view to celebrate milestone wedding anniversary and birthdays.  The hotel was fully booked during our visit. But, We were not disappointed.  Sissy, the lady who checked us in was very courteous, kind & generous. She gave us free valet parking, free 2 mimosas with our breakfast at Lava Cafe, free dessert with our dinner at Rum Fire,  free box of chocolate macadamian nuts and free champagne drinks from Links as gifts for celebrating in Sheraton. Our valet, Danilo, gave us restaurants he frequents as a local, which we enjoyed a lot.  Charisse, the concierge, showed us different places to visit all over Kauai and restaurants.  Our room was so clean, bed was perfect and the a/c felt great.  Avelina, the assigned housekeeper was always so friendly.  She had a nice smile for us every morning and we had small chats with her.  The room has a fridge and a free small bottle of water everyday. The resort is quiet and have lots of activities, which is included in the resort fee. These activities are: Lei making, surf lesson, snorkeling demo, ukelele lessons, yoga every morning, and lots more. My 73-year-old mom and I stayed here this past week, just the two of us. It was my first time in Hawaii, but she had stayed here about 15 years ago and kept telling me how beautiful it was. She was not exaggerating; it was incredible. Our room was in the Ocean Wing. The air conditioner and extremely comfortable bed helped us fall right to sleep every night. I sure miss that bed! We had an incredible ocean view from our second floor balcony where we watched the sunset every night.  (Tip: Consider bringing a smartphone tripod, so you can capture a timelapse video of the sunset!) There was a fridge to keep our beverages cold, and Shirley V. from Housekeeping did a beautiful job cleaning our room every day during our stay. She even wrote us a sweet note on our last day!Our stay was part of an AAA promo package that included breakfast at one of the onsite restaurants, Lava's. I'll review the restaurant separately, but we loved going there every morning! We had the same waitress every day, and she was just wonderful. The receipt says her name was Tomeko. The food there was delicious. I really appreciated the vegetarian options. The resort also offers free daily arts and crafts classes for guests. Great for kids, seniors, anyone really. The ladies leading the classes were so nice, and the projects were calming. My mom and I looked forward to these events every day. We made bracelets with Vanessa, who was very sweet and gave us sight seeing suggestions. Nen did our henna tattoos, which we LOVED; our session with her was one of our favorite activities from the whole trip! lol. (I actually have an appointment with a tattoo artist at home in Los Angeles to have her design tattooed on me permanently!) We made seashell magnets with another awesome instructor, but I forgot to ask her name unfortunately. We really enjoyed the beautiful pool, especially night swimming during the last hour it was open (8-9PM). It was so quiet during that time, and we practically had it all to ourselves.Thank you for some beautiful memories, Sheraton Kauai! We will remember this trip forever. I'd give it a 3.5 overall honestly. Granted my review is a year late but that's just how life goes, as busy bees.. From what I recall, I had no issues with any staff members. We pulled up, workers allowed me to park up front to check in before I drove off to the parking lot nearest my hotel room. Front desk was extremely patient as my credit card was acting up (make sure to let your bank/cc company know about going on a trip, even if it's island hopping or they will lock your card.)Poipu is a quiet, laid back and relaxed town compared to Oahu. In fact, our whole reason was to get away from the craziness on Oahu. We stayed in the tower across the street which had a view of the construction. I had mixed feelings about that, couldn't really complain because of 1. the price we paid, 2. didn't plan on staying in our room much of the trip besides to sleep in, 3.construction wasn't loud, and 4.we live in Hawaii so we can visit and view the beach anytime. I made sure to squeeze in some pool time for my little one bc that's his favorite part of every trip...the hotel pool, really!?. The pool is keiki friendly and since we went in the late afternoon, there was enough lounge chairs to chill on. We explored our way around the hotel, picked up a souvenir at the shop, sat in the rocking chairs, and walked about. Since it was a Sunday, not much was open, the only restaurant on property was closed, Hawaiian cultural activities weren't available so we went back to the room to get ready and explore else where. Oddly, the hotel parking lot filled up fast so it was a bit of a risk coming back at night..however it's FREE parking. *Kauai is a very Church oriented so expect a lot of businesses to be closed on Sundays. In keeping with their reputation, the Sheraton Kauai Resort did not disappoint. Relaxed luxury is the way I describe the experience here. They have everything you need with the low-key vibe of Kauai, something that differs from the other side of the island and all of the other islands. The rooms here are spacious and comfortable and the way the hotel is laid out is ideal right up next to the coast. Every evening the tradewinds blow through and bring a nice breeze through the room. The restaurants on-site offer great local fare, and it is a close walk to other beaches or the delicious Plantation restaurant. The self-parking is a little annoying because it is not right next to any entrance into the resort, but I didn't have trouble finding parking. Concierge was really friendly but they were really aggressive in trying to get us to sit in on one of the timeshare meetings. If they want people to go to those they should probably offer them after the sun goes down when people have nothing else to do with their limited time on Kauai! More...

An excellent, relaxing stay in paradise! The Sheraton Kauai is located in Koloa to the west of Poipu Beach. It is an older area compared to Poipu where the newer resorts are. The facility is well-maintained. It consists of several buildings scattered on both sides of Ho' onani Road. This creates a somewhat strange dynamics since check-in and valet are on the North side of the road and the ocean-view rooms, the restaurants, the main pools, the beach, guest services, and concierge are all on the South side. This does not pose a big problem since the resort is not very large, but it is a little strange. It'd be nice to at least have all guest services close to each other. Our room seemed recently remodeled. It was clean and modern. Our bathroom however looked a little dated compared to the rest of the room and needed some TLC. The tub had some rust and stains. The beach and the landscaping are beautiful. Our oceanfront view was "to die for". The facility is not too big and getting around is easy. Self-Parking is convenient as there are a few different lots scattered through the facility. There is also free parking on the street which could take a bit of effort during busy times. Although we had complimentary valet, we self-parked most of the time and it was a short walk to our building. Staff are very friendly and laid back, sometimes to a fault as they would regularly let people from outside the hotel utilize the pool and the cabanas free of charge. The hotel guests had to pay for the same cabanas and we were charged a daily resort fee for the use of the pool. I must add that the concierge staff are a little too aggressive; we received repeated phone calls, texts, and even a personal typed letter to go see them. There is a nice upscale restaurant on the facility that is open for dinner only, called RumFire, and a casual one for breakfast, lunch, and early dinner called Lava. We ate at both and I will leave separate reviews for them. RumFire was very nice but pricey. Lava was quite a bit less formal but priced reasonably. I had one of the best Filet Mignons of my trip there, for $30! Starbucks coffee and lighter grab-and-go food items such as sandwiches, fruit, and pastries are available at their cafe called Link@Sheraton Cafe. There is also a beachfront Luau on the hotel grounds which is very good and recommended. The rooms here are fairly pricey (what isn't in Kauai?) but given the quality of the facilities and its great customer service it is on par with the norm. If you are a member of Sheraton's rewards program, called Marriott Bonvoy, make sure that the rate you book is eligible for rewards. I had booked through hotels.com and while I did not save much, I did not get any points for my stay. The points would have been worth more than what I saved on the slightly lower rate. I wish they would be more transparent about this and let you know ahead of time (I blame both hotels.com and Sheraton for this). Also, the perks the hotel offers to its rewards members is fairly light and unimpressive compared to other Sheratons and Marriotts that I've stayed at. However, when it's all said and done, we did enjoy our time there immensely and had a lot of fun! More...

Let me start by saying I don't write reviews often, it's not my thing, but I felt compelled to write this one. I'll try to keep it brief for those just looking for a place to stay. I travel for work and often switch between Marriott and other notable hotel chains. After this experience I'm good to only stay at Marriott, not because I had a recent bad experience at other chains, but because I have had such an amazing experience at Sheraton Kauai Resort. My wife and I (just married) arrived early for our stay at the hotel. The lady at the front said they would hold our bags and give us a call when our room was ready. 3 pm approached, which is check-in time and I still hadn't heard anything. My wife and I drove back to the hotel thinking surely our room would be ready, it wasn't. This was a make or break moment in my mind for this Marriott experience. The staff at the hotel quickly jumped into action providing unbelievable service and showing true empathy. I always expect good service when I go places but this was impeccable. This is the end stop on our honeymoon and we are about to go home in just one more day with the best service I or we have ever experienced by a hotel. If you are looking for a beautiful resort with top notch staff this is where you want to be. I want to end with one last note. I don't review often and strongly feel no place should get 5 stars as there is always room for improvement, but this one time I felt the need to make an exception. More...

I'm shocked to see the overall low-ish rating for this hotel. After a decent experience at the Hyatt Regency in Maui, we headed to Kauai for the second leg of our honeymoon. From the second we hit the lobby, we knew the Sheraton was for us. The staff was warm, greeted us with free chocolates, and guided us to our ocean view room. Being that the hotel is just a few stories tall, you can hit the water in mere seconds and listen to the crashing waves all night long. It's a spectacular view that matches the website's photography. The resort is quiet (as is all of Poipu), which was a nice change of pace from Maui. And there are two shopping centers walking distance that have additional restaurants and convenient stores. We hit the hotel's poolfront restaurant, Lavas, for breakfast every morning (the options are more like dessert, but hey, when in Hawaii...), and tried to take advantage of the beach, but the waves were massive during our stay. In fact, the first one flipped me head over heels and stole my second pair of shades on our trip. So, we spent the majority of our time at the pool. They'll deliver your drinks poolside and the poolfront shop has everything you could need; sounds stupid, but we were pleasantly surprised they even filled my wife's floaty with air (take that, Hyatt). Our 4 nights here flew by, and on our final night we were able to enjoy the hotel's weekly luau free of charge from our balcony. Tack on a free box of chocolates on our way out, reasonable prices, and a view I can't stop thinking about, and we're glad we gave the Sheraton a shot. At time of booking, they were running a deal that included a daily $50 resort credit, so breakfast ended up being on the house each day, too. Had we not had an ocean view, I'm not sure if we would have been thrilled with our room. Something to keep in mind if considering this resort. Mahalo! More...

We stayed here for three nights and just loved it. It was our first time in Hawaii, and this was a perfect base for exploring the south coast, canyon area, and west side. We were upgraded to a one-bedroom suite, which was perfect as it came with a full kitchen. We also loved that the resort is walking distance to a few restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel staff made an impression before we even got there with a welcome email providing information about the property and asking some questions about our trip. I mentioned in response that the trip was for my son's birthday, and not only did they have a welcome gift waiting for him at check-in, they dropped off a care package full of snacks and a birthday card to our room. He was THRILLED. The pool at the hotel was great, and all the staff was so nice and friendly. I also want to give a shout-out to the concierge, Kelly. We decided at the last minute we wanted to go on a helicopter and she was able to get us in at no notice -- the ride she booked for us was a highlight of our whole trip. We stayed at three different resorts this trip (the second on the north shore and the third comped by the airline due to a flight delay) but this one was our favorite. My family of 4, including 2 teenagers, stayed here for a week. We had a great room on the 4th floor with an amazing ocean view. It was quiet, clean, updated,  and we all slept very well. We loved our room. The pool was great. We were steps away from an incredible swimmable beach. There are a lot of beachfront hotels in Kauai, but few located on a swimmable beach. The sandy beach and gentle waves at the Sheraton is perfect for swimming and family fun. We are happy we chose to stay in Poipu.I would have given the Sheraton a 5 star rating if not for a couple of snafus. The wifi service was questionable. All 4 of us dropped off wifi intermittently and experienced a slow connection on more than one occasion. I called the front desk for help, and they directed me to Marriott's technical support. It took a half hour to get my phone connected and it still dropped off. The tech wanted to keep working with me, but I didn't have the time to invest on my vacation to deal with technical support. I've never experienced any wifi problems with any hotel before, including lower tier ones, and for the resort fees I paid, it was disappointing to have any problems with wifi. The other issue we had was with billing. We checked our credit card statement on our third day and noticed the hotel had placed unexpected (and expensive) charges to our card. We called the front desk and the clerk was not sure what the charges were for. After consulting the manager, she told us that we were charged for having 2 extra adults in our room. My wife and I have 2 kids, ages 14 and 17, and we were being charged the extra adult fee for both of my kids. After realizing their error, the hotel removed the charges. Again, there were obviously only 2 adults upon checkin, so it was disappointing to have to sort out errant charges as it takes away from the experience.Overall we had a great stay at this hotel. I would recommend it and I wouldn't hesitate to return. More...

We had our wedding at their Ocean Lawn, which had such beautiful views of the beach and ocean and sky... and it was spacious enough to handle all our guests. It was private enough as well, and the hotel got us the suite at the ground floor overlooking the beach and the lawn for our ceremony. It was perfect because it was the room I came out of when it was time for my bridal walk down the aisle. Chelsea and Ashley, the event coordinators for the hotel were very helpful and professional as well. We had the ceremony at Rumfire, Sheraton's restaurant that was so close to the Ocean Lawn. I would highly recommend this location for couples and families alike as the beach it sits on  is great for swimming, snorkeling, and SUP when surf is low. I look forward to returning and hoping to stay longer and enjoy the beautiful island again. The only reason for 4:5 stars is only due to the early closing for dining. I realize that it is typical for "earlier" closing times but when you go out to enjoy the sites and return after 7pm with everything closing around 8/9, gives you little time to freshen up and enjoy a meal. Great views of whales and folding in the water outside through huge windows!  Be aware they roll up the streets in Kauai early. Not much available for food after 830 pm. More...
