Stopped in today. Had the special......chicken,bacon and cheese on sourdough. Yummy! Took my leftover chocolate fruit dip home and poured it over buttered biscuits. Delish!

You guys really need to stay open later!!!! This pregnant lady wants some chocolate, but every time I could go, you are closed. ..., You are missing out on a lot of business by closing so early. I had lunch at The Chocolate Cafe in Winchester VA and the food was delicious. I had the peanut butter jammer sandwich and the broccoli pasta salad. It was so filling I didn't have room for dessert and I so wanted to try the peaches and cream bar. Guess I will have to make a separate trip to get one. I come to this strip mall 3-4 times a week and have tried all the different restaurants. The Chocate Cafe is a great lunch spot with great desserts sandwiches. I like the staff and the outdoor seating area. I've recently wasted time and money at the nearby Butcher Station restaurant for their rude service and insipid food, so it made me appreciate The Chocolate Cafe even more. My daughter and I visited Shenandoah Fine Chocolates a few weeks ago, we have been fans of their chocolates for awhile.. .this was a special visit. My daughter is getting married really soon, and we wanted in included product from the area in the hotel "welcome" bags. We did not pre-order and needed 20 speciality bags...on the fly, the lady behind the counter, owner?, was so helpful and said to us, normally we don't make these bags up without a prior order but if you give me 30 minutes I will get them done for you! Stopped here for lunch last Saturday. Crowd was thin (it was past 2PM) so it was nice and quiet which helped out having a toddler in tow. My husband ordered a the salad of the day (can't remember which one; it involved chicken), and I ordered the turkey & brie sandwich. We both loved our dishes. The lunch options were ten dollars or less, but adding drinks will push it into the "moderate" price category. The only dessert/sweets we tried was their signature chocolate cake. The cake part was moist and well done, for the frosting I enjoyed the peppermint but it was a bit too typical-sugary-thick-buttercream for my taste. A beautifully renovated cafe that is my new favorite spot for a bite to eat in Winchester, as well as for coffee and treats!  I've been many times now and have loved the variety of sandwiches and soups offered- my favorites have been the Pastrami and Turkey/Brie sandwiches, as well as the Red Pepper Gouda soup (definitely worth a try and I wish they had it all the time!).  My husband loves the Ham, Apple, and Cheddar sandwich- it has a plum chutney on it that is made locally. Even my daughter loves their store made peanut butter and the staff, who are so welcoming and friendly each time we go.  The coffee is great as well- salted caramel is my go-to.  I even ordered the Shenandoah Chocolate Cake for my birthday- it was heavenly!  I like the outdoor patio seating- a great addition to the area (and you can pop right next-door for chocolate as well, so pretty awesome all around). Winchester is very fortunate to have a chocolatier of its own.  The owner is a true artisan with a flair for creating unique flavor combinations in her chocolates.  The prices are on par with any gourmet chocolate shop.  The selection of sugar-free chocolates is quite impressive,  for those who need to restrict their sugar intake.It is fun to give a box of these fine chocolates as a gift and see the recipient's face light up! I ate there with 2 coworkers for lunch. We all had the chili and a sandwich. One of my coworkers even had the peanut butter, mayonnaise, bacon, pickle and tomato sandwich. Much better than it sounds. They make the peanut butter on site and it's really good. We wanted to buy some to take home. Chili was very good as were the other two sandwiches. Dessert was probably the best part. I had the pina colada cake, coworkers had cheese cake. Consensus all around was that we'd be back. Hard to comment on the service since it wasn't crowded when we went but we had no problems. Love the seasonal salad!! And I never love salads. My husband had a lamb shank special and said it was awesome. The service in slow and the chocolate was pretty unimpressive for a chocolate store but our lunches were really good on both visits we've made.
