Sheldon inn is truly underrated and deserves 5 stars. This hidden gem is located in the outskirts of Wilton and you could easily pass it up if you're on the road . I had a lovely dinner here on my birthday and they really made my night one to remember . Everything from the service to the food is amazing . They have an on-site photo person who will take your picture and have it printed by the end of your meal . Jackson was a really great host and it was nice to have conversations with him . My husband and I celebrated our two year anniversary here! It was lovely and they surprised us by taking a picture of us, putting it in a paper frame, and writing a sweet note. I loved this little addition!

This review is overdue. My small party went here for Thanksgiving Dinner. It was my first time here. We could not have been happier. Â One member of our party has mobility issues and was able to navigate the restaurant easily. Our table location was just right. The white tablecloths and the waitpersons' dress and atmosphere were spot on. The food, drinks & dessert were memorable. Â However, the aspect of our experience that left the greatest impression was that every member of the staff we interacted with gave us a sincere thank you for our patronage. Came here for a family dinner. Everything was delicious. My wife's lobster was under cooked. Manager came out to apologize and we had a new one right away. Went for Sunday Brunch with my husband and had the Creme brûlée French toast with fried chicken.  That was very good!  Add bottomless mimosas and life is great!  Service is also very good. We haven't been since Doug and Barbara sold the business, but decided--because the menu was appealing for us--to celebrate my inlays 70th wedding anniversary at Sheldon Wednesday night. Richard was our server. Three days new and fabulous. We will be requesting a table in his section next time we go and it will be sooner than later. The manager, and it's my own fault for not getting his name, was super accommodating, the staff took pictures and delivered them before we left, and our menus were personalized congratulating my folks on their special day. Dinner here does NOT disappoint. Started off with the Brie appetizer plate the cheese just literally melts in your mouth like heaven on top of these yummy little garlic toasts with some jam that compliments it so nicely. We then got the Salmon that was served with roasted carrots and some delicious sort of chutney underneath. Right when I thought nothing could melt in my mouth more than the Brie cheese the salmon topped it. As I love myself some cheesecake I thought it was necessary to try their Blackberry Cheesecake. My mom and brunch are two of the things I love most, so having an excuse to combine the two always makes for an excellent Sunday. Elk Grove is growing into a bustling metropolis, and yet to find this amazing spot you have to get away from the city a bit. Head a few miles out on Grant Line and you find the Sheldon Inn, which is a funky spot that looks like it could be (and may very well actually be) an old farm house. Decent amount of parking, and they do take reservations but not sure we actually needed it. We were here at 11:30 on a Sunday and it was busy, but there were a few empty tables. Service was great, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful and it seemed clear from the start that service matters here. Started off with a bloody Mary, another on that list of my favorite things, and often times they become ridiculous as bar tenders try too hard to load them with junk. This one had a really nice piece of shrimp and an olive and the kicker, a stalk if asparagus. Not gaudy, but very tasty. Not as spicy as some, but peppery, which I like, and neither strong nor weak, which works for a morning libation. They bring out a small plate as you arrive with some fresh fruit, scone, and a couple small slices of coffee cake, a nice welcome and all quite good. Though the star of this show is the creme brulee French toast. There aren't words for how scrumptious this is. Really good bread, some fresh berries,and this sort of dulce de le he sauce that I would leap into a pool of and drink my way out. Very pleased and they have a lovely outdoor patio which made for a very nice brunch. Had trouble with bees bothering us a bit, not too pesky or troublesome, but they kept this 4 star from becoming a 5 star. More...

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. Our waiter (Nathan?) was awesome. We told him it was one of our first date nights out since having our son so he made sure to go at our pace and not rush us . We both enjoyed a drink. My husband had a moonraker IPA. Out of the can, but their beer selection was good. I had a lemon drop. It was delicious and one of the best I've had. My husband ordered the stuffed pork chop and I ordered the fall risotto. Both were amazing. The pork chop was tender and juicy and my risotto was just all around tasty. I had the Portuguese soup which was simple and delicious. It had a bit of a kick too which was great. My husband had the salad - simple dinner salad. What made it really unique was they added a "Happy Anniversary" with our names and the date at the top of the menu. We reserved Sheldon Inn for our wedding. The venue definitely did not disappoint!! My husband and I fell in love with it right when we took a tour! We also did the food tasting for our wedding and we were set with Sheldon Inn for the venue choice! Danielle was the cherry on top! She was the wedding coordinator and was professional and great at what she does--kept in touch with us on communication. Â She was also flexible with my diy projects for our wedding. During the wedding, the set up was perfect and the staff were professional. We also came for dinner and the food was delicious! The ambience was great and romantic for a date night. Our waiter was attentive and also joked around with us.All in all, we loved our experience with Sheldon Inn and am so glad I chose them for my wedding venue. The Sheldon Inn and Restaurant is in a rustic ranch-style building and very homey.  The restaurant itself is very fancy with white tablecloths and well dressed wait staff.  The wait staff was excellent.  Very attentive and friendly.  I had the scallops wrapped with bacon as an appetizer.  It was perfectly cooked and very flavorful.  I give it an "A".  I also had the Portuguese Bean Soup.  It was unusual, but delicious.  I give it an "A".  For my entrée I ordered the Rib Eye Steak with a baked potato.  I was perfectly prepared and flamed broiled.  The potato was fluffy and hot.  It came with a side of sautéed green beans.  I give my entrée and sides an "A".  All in all, everything was perfect.  The ambiance, service, and food was all top quality.  I'll be back for sure. It's been a long time since I gave a local restaurant an "Excellent" rating, but this restaurant really knocked came through for us. Our server was extremely accommodating throughout our visit, and the food was amazing. We had the rib eye, the stuffed pork chop, and our friends had the halibut.
