I met with Dr Shefali 6 months ago regarding a general feeling of not feeling good. It was really hard for me to approach someone for help because like many others I too felt that matters of the mind are not real problems, these are just issues we bring up and we don't need professional help to resolve them. Seeing her, talking to her, and realizing how well she understood the intricacies of my mood and reactions was itself enlightening. Her mindfulness approach initially seemed a little tedious but when I started delving into my own subconscious thoughts, I got answers to a lot of my own uncomfortable feelings and emotions. The process took a few sessions to show effect but her patience throughout and her explanation of how this works, made me want to work on myself and change for the better. I recommend this to anyone who's willing to put in the effort to understand and change themselves instead of expecting the world to change to their advantage. More...

Q&As

I feel like less of a doer and more of an observer in people’s lives. My presence or absence does not make a difference until the time people choose to see themselves the way I do. That is – without judgment, minus prejudice and with genuine hope. All these years of reading medical textbooks, studying the structure of the brain and its neural connections, researching human behavior, and guiding tens of thousands of people through their path to self change, have only affirmed my all time faith in neuro-plasticity. That we can all change whatever we want, whenever we want and to the extent we wish. I feel I have studied this, lived it and I truly love it. To be able to make a difference, to add meaning to a life that was otherwise deemed meaningless by one, and to enhance smiles just by talking to someone and letting them see themselves differently. It's something I will always be thankful for.

I studied undergraduate medicine, and completed my postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry over a decade ago. The study of the human brain and mind allows me to feel empowered in understanding nuances of human emotion and behavior. My experiences with patients and clients from world over during this time, has been nothing less than enlightening, exciting and awe-inspiring. I’ve consistently believed in wellness and used that approach to steer away from illness. That increasingly enhances my interest in observing people’s lifestyle choices. And also asking them why they do the things they do, even when they know these might be troubling for them. Since I practice it daily, the use self-awareness and mindfulness in modifying lifestyle choices for the better, becomes easy. And suddenly people begin to see themselves in a different light.

I believe clients should do their homework, assess the expertise, experience and working style of professionals they like to see, and identify what they might deem is the best fit. I know we all have different preferences. I do hope I am able to touch as many lives and assist people in building a stronger degree of self awareness and mindfulness to resolve their daily lifestyle troubles.
