Our Manager showed us this place and i was really impressed by the quality and the taste of the food! This is a spot where you want to bring your friends. Especially the ones who are visiting Boston. I personally ordered Brisket Bowl and it was out of this world! Great Food! Great Atmosphere! A message to the owner: Please take better pictures of the dining area, because it is much much nicer when you are there. An Yelp pictures are not showing the entire beauty if your place!!! More...

There aren't many BBQ joints in downtown Boston, but that doesn't matter because the quality and value of this place is on point. They have a small but good selection of different BBQ sauces to try. My favorites are the Texas and South Carolina sauces. I had the brisket, smoked sausage with coleslaw, mac n' cheese, and cornbread with a cold root beer to wash it down. Quick and easy. I highly recommend if you find yourself in downtown Boston. More...

3.5 starsGrabbed a bowl from Shed's food pop-up in Seaport. There was a huge line so I had to see what the fuss is about. For bowls, you pick a base (greens & quinoa or Mac & cheese), a meat (brisket, pulled pork, etc), toppings (unlimited), and a sauce (I forget the varieties but I got lemon vinegrette) . My bowl came out to around $12.I was impressed by how much beef brisket they added plus it was delicious - succulent and covered in sauce. I also appreciated the unlimited toppings. I was probably least impressed with the cherry tomatoes though, which were old and squishy.Solid meat, but for the price, I'd expect all the ingredients to be quality. More...

I need to stop announcing that I've "never had good BBQ" in New England, because it simply isn't true anymore. I work in DTX and have seen my coworkers grabbing Shed's takeout for a few weeks, and finally, my curiosity got the best of me. I was very surprised to see it so quiet around 12:30 (peak lunch in DTX) so I'm hoping that's not a bad omen.First thing I love: you can place an order online and schedule a pick up. This is a big deal to me, as I usually only have a little bit of time to go and grab lunch AND it gives me plenty of time to stress over what to get while still at my desk (anyone else get ordering anxiety?) - 10 points for Shed's.I got a quinoa bowl with the sliced brisket, corn, coleslaw, and some veggies. I was thrilled to see the selection of BBQ sauces included some "traditional TX sauce" (thin, not super sweet, flavorful). Everything was fresh and delicious, and DAMN, the smoke rings on dat brisket. I wish there were options to maybe have two different meats on a bowl, as I would have loved to try more than one, but I guess I just have to come back. The bowl itself came with a sort of BBQ aioli, but I had to add tons of TX BBQ sauce for nostalgia purposes. My BBQ overall was very good, but is still not quite the same as being home.Pro Tip: they have a huge frito pie section when you first get in, and I recently learned this is not a normal food item for New Englanders. Try it. It sounds like an artery clog waiting to happen, but it is truly one of the crappy Texas foods I miss most, and isn't as good when you try to make it yourself at home. Think: Fritos, chili, cheese, consume. More...

I may have overdone it for lunch with the two meat platter but I wanted to get a start at trying it all. I was mostly psyched for the ribs and they were great, but it was the chopped brisket that made me really happy. Looking forward to this becoming a regular lunch haunt, but I'll probably stick to sandwiches or the mac and cheese bowl in the future. Looking forward to trying the pulled pork and the sausages, but it might be difficult not ordering the chopped brisket. More...

I've been in a couple of times and it's consistently delicious, regardless of what you order. From chicken to ribs to pulled pork to sausage, there's good smoke on everything and the sides are really solid and diverse.

You won't get a better combination of food quality and great service from any BBQ spot in the Boston area. I cannot recommend enough to those who haven't tried it, to do so!

Definitely the best BBQ place in Boston. Their Brisket is perfect.

I think there are some weaknesses with their sauce. The only one that stands out as okay is the Texas dipping sauce. The pulled pork is dry and the one with the sauce doesn't taste that good. The ribs are good, but they aren't tender and could use more flavor and smoke. The fried pickles are really good but too salty, and I'm not sure how much they pay attention the quality of the pickle since it can be covered by batter.

Overall best experience you can have in Boston.

The sliced brisket sandwich is as good as it gets.  It's not cheap at $11, but that includes a generous side.  The meat is lean, tender, and juicy.  The rolls are not too large and you have a choice of BBQ sauces to put on your sandwich.  This sandwich is better than anything you will get at the more expensive Sam LaGrassa's a few yards away. Ain't too bad BBQ. Really great location, to have even halfway decent BBQ downtown is nice. I actually like the cafeteria style service. When a caterer cancels on you eight weeks before the wedding you don't expect it to be the best thing that could happen.  Shed's took us on and they were phenomenal.  A well travelled (and well fed) friend said, "It was the best wedding buffet food I've ever had... may even be the best buffet I've ever had -- wedding or restaurant."  And that's just for starters.  Shed's took care of everything: cocktail hour, servers, chairs for the outdoor ceremony, table settings, clean up...you name it.  They handled many details you'd expect a wedding planner to cover.  The owners and staff were delightful.  It was clear the staff loved working for Shed's.  I can't praise them enough. A year has gone by and I still can't get over how they nailed every detail of the event.  They made the day! More...

It kept showing up as an "ad" when I'd search for lunch and I finally gave in today for lunch. Shed's is located near Downtown Crossing and so a barbecue place in downtown Boston is going to be interesting. I had a low expectation but it was nicely exceeded today.Brisket was quite moist though covered in sauce. Decent flavor and consistency, maybe a little too sauced but still decent. For sides, the mac & cheese was very good. Not too much cheese, plenty of flavor and the noodles were firm. Cole slaw was good. Tart with an appropriate amount of mayonnaise. Maybe some more celery seed would be nice but that's just how I make my own. Corn bread was excellent. Firm, moist, not sweet.Restaurant is clean and well maintained. It's not obvious walking in that it's not table service but I figured it out promptly. More...

We love Shed's- it was a welcome addition to the lunch restaurants in downtown crossing area. Relatively expensive for amazing BBQ and quality meat, with a plethora of sides. Usually opt for the platter instead of the sandwich because you can get 2 sides. The variety of sauces is awesome, and allows for even more customization. They always have samples of soups and desserts as you go through the line to order. I've also ordered catering from Shed's too and it was A HUGE HIT!!! So much more exciting than the normal sandwich platters with chips. Tough if you need to cater to vegetarians though, just make sure to get mac&cheese and cole slaw! They messed up the location for delivery which is why I cannot give it 5 stars but they were wonderful in accommodating for their mistake and hand delivered a gift card to my work to apologize. The BBQ is probably the best you will get in Boston. However it is expensive compared to other places. As for food:Stick with the basics, pulled pork, brisket, ribs.  The 'Spicy Texas Links' aren't worth the money. They essentially taste like kielbasa.  The Mac and Cheese is extremely good, however the potatoes leave something to be desired (it is dry and bland). They do an assembly line style serving, and its takeout or sit-down.
