Hudson came into my life as a 1-year-old Lab with no prior training and an assortment of firmly established bad habits. I was no match for his size and strength, and he recognized that immediately.
Going for walks with him was a nightmare because of his constant pulling on the leash and his reactivity to other dogs. I could not effectively control him, and he quickly learned to take advantage of that.
Approximately 2 months ago, Hudson completed the Shea-9 Board-and-Train program with Brendan, and the difference is like night and day! Even though I have had dogs my entire life, I learned so much from Brendan about dogs in general, and more importantly, about my dog in particular. He was great about explaining why he was instructing me to use this or that training technique, and it was always because it was a technique best-suited to Hudson’s personality and specific behavioral issues. Brendan continues to be an amazing resource and he is always willing to offer his advice and support when I need help.
The Shea-9 training program is the best investment I could ever have made in terms of my relationship with Hudson. We work every single day using the drills and techniques that Brendan has taught us, and this regimen has helped create a bond which allows Hudson’s sweet and playful exuberance to remain intact, while at the same time leaves no doubt about who’s in charge - and finally I can say that is ME rather than Hudson! The biggest payoff of all is that now I able to fully appreciate and ENJOY my dog. What a wonderful difference the training has made in the quality of our life together!!

We picked Gray up last Monday after a month long train and board with Shea-9 Dog Training. We adopted Gray, our 3 year old lab, last year and she was a handful. Gray had no obedience training and was not redirectable. Three weeks into the program Mitch and I were blown away with the progress Brendan had already made. He truly knew what our dog needed and answered every question we had with an explanation of why. The training sessions were eye opening and very informative. We had no idea how much our actions tied into how Gray was reacting. The day we picked Gray up Brendan made sure we went home with the tools and knowledge of how to keep training Gray at home. Not only is Brendan great at what he does, his passion for working with animals is apparent by the personal touch he adds to his service. He did an excellent job training our Jaeger and training us to get the most out of him. Through consistency and set expectations on both sides, life around the house and out in public is much more enjoyable with our energetic boy. I sent my high energy rescue puppy to Brendan for his Board and Train program. I am an active person that loves to run, hike and take my pup with me wherever I go! After 4 weeks, my pup is a joy to walk and run with, no pulling or jumping anymore! He behaves so well in public places with lots of distractions now, such a vast difference than before training. We are so happy with the training our 13mo old Cockapoo received at Shea-9 4 week board and train program. Bernie is a high energy dog that learned how to stay on place, recall, and now walks calmly without pulling. Brendan was very patient and knowledgeable with his training of our dog and us. Layla our goldendoodle spent 28 days at Brendan’s board and train program. Brendan listened to what the needs of our family and puppy were and structured a training program that would meet those needs. Layla came back a changed puppy. She no longer darts out of an open door, she walks off leash and on leash alongside my 9 year old and has learned “place”. Brendan is very professional and will send pics and videos throughout the 28 day training program. He is very responsive to text messages and phone calls. I have a two-year old, very headstrong miniature schnauzer who had taken to running away any time the door was opened. I called Shea-9 in frustration. We met and Brendan agreed to work with Woody through a board and train. Four short weeks later, my dog is well-behaved and obedient. Most importantly, he is safe. In addition to teaching Woody to come, he also taught him to wait for permission before crossing over a threshold, and the other basic obedience he was lacking. Brendan recently met with me, my husband, and our 8 year old rescue dog. He totally changed my mindset about teaching an old dog new tricks. Our girl was aggressive and had begun fighting one of our other dogs. After a 2 hour interactive session with Brendan, we have some wonderful tools to use while working with our girl. Brendan worked with my, newly attained, 4 year old German Shepard and me. I liked his interactions with both my dog & me. He asked questions to understand my dog's behavior(s) & what my goals were . This appt. was about getting my dog to not pull on the leash & put me as alpha. In a short time Brendan had dog walking appropriately at his side.
