Sean's Bar & Kitchen

Nine of us were looking for a spot to eat two days before Christmas while visiting NYC. One of us in the party has an egg, dairy, nut allergy so eating out is very difficult for him. We checked two restaurants before Sean's, but neither would seat us do to combo of the food allergy and the busiest time of year. Sean's was more than accommodating and understood the severity of his allergy.  Even though the kitchen was slammed, our waiter and hostess took the time to check and recheck the foods that were safe and altered the menu for him a bit. This place is fantastic! The hostess is Irish. Our waitress is Irish. I feel like I'm in Ireland. Our waitress is on top of it. The best service I've ever had in a bar. This was a fall back dinner after Carmine's was on a three hour wait! And honestly, I think we had a better meal here! The restaurant was busy at 5 on Friday, but we were seated within a few minutes. They have a nice selection of beers on tap (Try the Hazy Jane!). We ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers and small plates, including wings, short rib fries, pretzels, onion rings, a couple sushi rolls, onion soup and the younger folks ordered off the kids menu. Everything was very good, even the sushi which I questioned in an Irish pub! The favorite was definitely the short rib Irish nachos (on waffle fries). We finished pretty much everything. Our server was very forgettable and we really didn't see him much, although he made sure to offer a second round of pints when he saw they were getting low. And honestly for how busy they were, I was really fine with that. So if you find yourself looking for a beer and some decent food, Sean's definitely fits the bill. More...

This was our first time here. The wait time was not horrible for how busy they were. Once we got our table the waitress was promptly at our table. They have a very large beer selection which was great. We had the calamari, which was good and the wings  which were good as well. Our friends had the Irish nachos, the short rib wasn't really causing a wow factor but all in all they were good. I would go back though to try them again. More...

Lunch with our group of nine was excellent. Seated upstairs in a large corner table was a plus for easy conversation. This place is great the food is great people are so nice to you. Only thing I don't like is the bathrooms a way to small to space to move or even to use the toilet. When your waiting on line to go the woman are squeezing by me to get to the sink to wash there hands. Then you gotta squeeze by to get out . Everything else was great. I'm being a little forgiving on this review due to only going here because of the name of the place and then only could fit it in for breakfast, which they're probably not known for. Desperate for nourishment after a fun day in the city, I sought out the comfort food of Sean's Bar & Kitchen. The restaurant didn't disappoint. I appreciated the bustling energy of the place. I'm always in awe over how lively Manhattan is and thoroughly enjoy basking in its energy. This establishment was definitely full of life. The space was packed with people enjoying the start of the weekend. Although it was extremely loud, I had a good time because it was the experience that I wanted at the time.The Gaelic burger was giant. Despite being hungry and eating it fast, I remember it being a delightful meal. I accompanied the burger with a beer and enjoyed both. Service was pretty quick for how busy it was and our server was great.When it comes to Manhattan, it's hard to say that I'll return to a restaurant because there are so many to try, but I will probably end up back at Sean's one day because it left such a warm impression on me. Being a local I'm usually not super excited to stop and eat at touristy locations in the city, and I usually think of bars and pubs as touristy locations. We found ourselves in the city with a short amount of time to eat between appointments, and stopped in at Sean's after a quick search on Yelp. Guess what?!  The food options were plentiful, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was tasty. I didn't even get a dirty look or stare when I only drank water (being pregnant makes you unfriendly at pubs sometimes). Five stars for service - Sean's is a crowded midtown bar but the service and management team outshines every other midtown Irish pub. They make sure you're seated and are literally the best. The drinks are solid and the food is definitely bar food but the service is leaps and bounds better than all the rest. I would definitely recommend this place. The service was well timed and very attentive to our needs. We were 12 in our party, of which half were young adults with disabilities. We ordered a variety of items from salads, wraps, sandwiches and pizza. The portions were a good size and prices were reasonable. Comfortable atmosphere. Great customer service and awesome wait staff. Ordered the fish and chips- fries and slaw were delicious. Fish is a huge portion and enough to share. Ok, I've been traveling to NY for business for the last 20 years and can't believe I missed this place. My wife and I popped in to Sean's Bar & kitchen for pre-marathon beers.  Wow!  Great beer selection and an absolute perfect atmosphere in a great location.  Had to come back for food the next day.  Amazing food!   Most importantly it's how you're treated that matters the most. Hats off to Marisa as she made our day.  People don't return to places like this just for beer.  You can get that anywhere.  Have staff that wants to take care of their customers and smiles.  That goes along way.  Can't wait to come back!!
