School of Paws

I would like to give my highest recommendation for Pilar at School of Paws! My family adopted a sweet rescue dog from Mississippi back in December 2018. Francis is a terrier mix and so full of energy and mischief at times so we knew right away we were going to need some help training her. Pilar was recommended to us from another dog trainer. She has been our primary caretaker for Francis when we have been on vacations and is absolutely amazing! Francis is a highly social dog and has so much fun playing in Pilar's incredibly fun and safe home environment with the other well behaved dogs that she regularly boards. Pilar has also done some training with her and given us so many tips on how to keep her happily occupied with creative dog toys and rewards based treats. What would I do without Pilar at School of Paws I can't begin to say enough great things about her and her training. I am a new puppy owner, and although I did a ton of reading before getting my puppy, I really didn't know the first thing to do with regards to training. My only experience with dogs was from about 30 years ago when the common course of action was to hit them on the nose when they did something we didn't like. So positive training was a very new concept for me, and Pilar was a wonderful resource to help me understand the approach and convince me it was the best way to go for me. And then she helped me with everything from getting him on a schedule to teaching him commands using a clicker. I had no idea just how any commands would be so useful! And who'd of thought I'd be able to get my puppy to do them With Pilar's help, we learned so many things in such a short amount of time. My puppy absolutely loves her and gets beyond excited to see her. Pilar went so far above and beyond what I'd ever expect in a trainer. Not only was she available to answer every question I had, but she checked in often just to see how things were going. She treated my puppy like he was the best thing ever and as if he's the only puppy in the world. She clearly loves animals and that passion shines through in her work. My six month old puppy was a wild child until Pilar started training him. Her excitement, energy and love for training has shown through in his change in behavior over the last month. She uses positive reinforcement and all of her exercises are easily carried over into my daily activities with my puppy. She has taught me time and patience are key to working with him. More...
