Saviours Salon does such an impeccable job! I've been seeing Faith for a few years now and love her work! She is extremely thoughtful about her cuts and makes sure I always love the results. What's more I travel a lot and am not always around so get it cut sporadically; Faith's cuts always grow in beautifully so it rarely looks like I *need* a cut. The other women who work there- Deb and Christine- are also super fun and the entire place has a fun, funky and beautiful vibe. Warning- this is NOT Supercuts so expect to pay a seasoned professional an adequate amount for their expertise and experience. It's not the most expensive place in the city either and WELL worth it. I first started seeing Deb in 2009, when I lived right around the corner in the Mission and worked long hours so needed someone close and open late. I stopped seeing her in 2011 when I changed neighborhoods, but came crawling back in 2018 after getting sick of getting a different haircut every time (from the same person) at the local hipster barber shop. Deb welcomed me back with open arms and it was like I never left. First things first, Deb knows what she is doing and you get a perfect haircut every time. She convinced me to try a couple new things with my hair and it always looks great, so you should listen to her. Second, the online scheduling and reminder system is great and easy to use and keeps everyone organized and on time. Her space is in a great spot in the mission and she always has great music on. She's also open on the later side and on weekends, convenient for people who don't work in the area. Finally, and maybe most importantly, Deb is super cool and great to talk with while you are sitting in the chair, so you feel welcome and the time flies by.  I don't live or work anywhere close to the salon but still get there every month to see Deb and get a great haircut. I recently went to Saviours Salon for the first time to see Faith to get a tooth jewel! Yes! A tooth jewel! My friend and I were in the mood to get it done that day and she was able to squeeze us in between clients. She was so sweet and spent plenty of time going over the ins and outs of having a tooth jewel. My friend and I were in and out in about 30 minutes it was so quick! I've got difficult hair - it usually looks thin, flat, and fuzzy for most of my life.  However, Deb has taught me how to take better care of my hair, she has cut it with more care and attention than any of my previous stylists, and she has shown me what products actually make a difference and how minor changes to my styling methods can actually help me reach my goals while still only spending 5-10 minutes each morning on my hair.  I LOVE this salon and now I know why so many people fly her to their weddings... When I moved to the city I looked and looked and looked for the best salon for me. I am very picky about my hair.I did not care for the fancy, hipster over expensive places that can only do a Kardashian look. I was looking for a place where the owner and stylist loves her clients, pampers them, respects their hair style (we don't get out of this salon all looking alike), uses hair-friendly products and knows her job.Well...I found Saviours Salon. Beautiful hair, makeup, vibe and soulsI admit, I'm picky about my hair.  Grey can NEVER show, it must be cute even with my limited ability to style it and I get bored easily and need something new on a regular basis.  Finding someone to make me love my hair isn't easy.  But now I have Deb!  Deb is awesome at making me look great - sometimes in spite of myself.  She listens carefully to what I want and then starts a dialog on what is possible and what she recommends.  I take her advice and I always love how I look.  And it's changed over the years.  Sometimes super short and sleek, fun peacock colors or normal brown, curlier and loose, you name it.  I definitely recommend Deb for hair.I also highly recommend Deb for makeup.  I booked her for a makeup lesson and unlike going to Sephora to be sold products, Deb taught makeup theory on how best to use the products I already had.  I left with a gorgeous face, tossed the stuff that I bought that would never work and had a very short list of things to buy to finish my makeup kit.  She encouraged me to play and whenever I see her, she's happy to review a new look and give me more feedback.  Not least important, Deb is also a true wise soul.  So, while you're getting beautiful, she's a great listener and offers solid advice on issues and support for your life.  If we were a tribe, she'd be the wise (and young and beautiful!) leader steering the rest of us to success.  I find BART is easier than driving and parking so I'm not worried about my meter.  Deb doesn't rush you so be prepared for it to take some time.  And sometimes you get started a few minutes late.  So, bring a book, relax listening to the tunes and sip a beverage and chill. I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Deb at Saviours Salon for about 4 years (and can't believe I haven't written a review until now)!  I have been very happy with my experiences here.  Deb is skilled and professional.  I get my hair colored (to cover up my grays) here every 6 weeks, and get a color/cut combo done every 12 weeks.  I have dark hair, and have found that the color lasts and looks good.  My hair is naturally wavy, and on top of that, I like to spend as little time as possible on my hair - Deb has done a great job of giving me haircuts that look attractive while being very low maintenance.Deb's schedule fills up, so I suggest booking your next appointment before leaving your current one in order to get your preferred time.  Also, as a heads up, Deb doesn't take credit card, so be sure to bring cash or a check book - this used to bother me, but I've gotten used to it, and it's not a big deal.In addition to being a talented hair stylist, Deb is a lovely person!  She's kind, warm, and easy to talk to.Last but not least, the salon itself is a beautiful space and the location at 18th and Mission is very accessible by public transit.  Parking in the area can be a challenge, so allow yourself extra time to park.I highly recommend Deb at Saviours Salon! Saviours is amazing..and Deb is the best.  I'm talking long discussions about Judas Priest and which kind of cod piece to wear.  I'm talking multiple Slayer records to choose from while they professionally clip your ear hair that you thought you got before you came in to the salon, but nope - still there.   Dead birds on the walls mocking your bad self beard trim that you did for a OkCupid Date that you knew would suck.Feelin' quiet?  Are you a mild-mannered metalhead accountant feeling old in SF and just want a nap?  Eat a little too much Rosamunde? Christina is the best hair stylist in the Bay Area! She's been cutting my hair long and short for over a decade across a number of salons in the city. Her best features are that she is thoughtful, kind and unpretentious! She will be honest with you if your hair would look terrible in a faux hawk ‍ and instead help you find a cool style that actually works with your hair. SHORT HAIR. If you're interested in cutting you hair very short, Christina is amazing! She will always make you look good. But also after several haircuts I was able to show her photos of myself where I thought  I looked best and we were able to really hone down my now signature short hair. Now I just have to say "give me the usual."GENTLEMEN. My boyfriend just used to go to cheap hair places and get his hair buzzed short. Eventually he wanted to have more style to his hair and so he started seeing Christina too. He is so happy with his hair now and she also listens to him and adjusts based on his wishes. I'm having a love affair with my hair!  Yesterday Faith Allen cut my hair. Since then I did photo shoot, went grocery shopping, met with a client, and slept. After all of that I woke up to AH-MAZING hair!  My wavy-curly hair can be temperamental.. cut it wrong and it goes limp, or frizzy, or likes to impersonate some 80's big hair band. So I'm definitely cautious when I go to a new stylist. It took several recommendations about Faith for me to make an appointment.  And now I'm so happy I did... she does pure magic! My husband and I both go to Deb for all things hair. Cuts, color, style recommendations, products, you name it. Not only is she incredibly talented on both men's and women's hair (you can give her a picture of a cut you want, and she'll give you something better) but you always get a great experience at her salon. From the vintage chic atmosphere, to a drink while you wait, to her eclectic vinyl music selection, to the easy going nature of everyone who works there, she's got it all. I confess, I used to cut my own hair (I know, I know). Deb helped me grow it out from the pixie I was maintaining so I could have an updo for my wedding. Came to Saviours Salon for tooth gems! Super fast, friendly, and less expensive than some other shops I checked out. Faith was really patient with my indecision and crazy hyper son. She had lots of options for stones and it took only a couple minutes each. Love LOVE Love this Salon! It is a true gem of the mission district. It's hidden on 18th st. Faith is my hair dresser and she creates miracles with curly hair (she has it herself).  It's lovely calming atmosphere and great music makes me feel as if I've gone into a Spa of innovative personal style creativity!!  I was referred to this salon from 2 friends that have Faith cut and color their hair. I almost don't want to write this review because I'm afraid of letting the secret out. Deb is the best hairdresser in the world. There, I said it. I started seeing Deb 5 years ago when I had long, straight hair and after about 6 months I finally let Deb transform my hair. Since then, there's been no turning back. I go in each time and pretty much ask Deb to do what she thinks would look best. I regularly get compliments on my hair, from friends and from random people I walk past and it's all thanks to her! Saviours is the best! I've been getting my hair done by Christina for 8 years. I followed her to Saviours from a previous salon. She was recommended to be my a friend when I moved back to the city, and I've recommended multiple friends to her; pretty much our whole social circle gets our hair done here! She's amazing. I had long hair for years and she kept it healthy and beautiful. Then I trusted her when I wanted a dramatic change, and now I get constant compliments from strangers on my adorable asymmetrical short look. She always takes what I want into account, but honestly after this long I usually say, "I was thinking along the lines of... But whatever you think is best." Like most of my favorite things in SF, I was introduced to Deb by somebody who'd lived in the city a few years longer than myself and knew what was up. Which is that Deb is freakin' AMAZING!!! Seriously, you don't need to look anywhere else.  If I could give her 10 stars, I would. Why? Because I have super thick, coarse curly hair that started going white when I was 18 -- we're talking the bane of my existence for the first 25+ years of my life. And then Deb took over. That was over five years ago and now I can't imagine letting anyone else ever touch my hair again. Not only does she do consistenly fantastic cuts & color (seriously, every single time I tell her it's my favorite haircut ever), but more than that she takes the time to teach you how to do your hair (or eyebrows..) in a way that works for you. I've shown her pictures of cuts or color that she explained what the realistic upkeep would be to me first, to make sure I knew what I was getting in to -- which, let's be real-- I totally didn't so I appreciated that honesty. Also, she did all the hair & makeup for the ladies in my BFF's wedding, and from the flower girl to the bride to the grandmothers, everyone looked amazing and just loved her. This review is long over due. Deb is the.best. If you suffer from a hot mess of curls on your head and have had half a dozen hair dressers destroy your curls - you know the pain of finding a high quality hair dresser. Deb is exactly that. She is very thorough and meticulous which is why appointments with her can last for over an hour just for a cut. She also gives the worlds best head massage while shampooing your hair. She always has great recommendations on new products to try but without all the added pressure of feeling like you have to buy something. Sometimes she does run behind with clients but does a great job of shooting  you a text to give you a heads up. You know she's going to give you an amazing cut while you're in her chair so you don't even care if she's running a little behind. I followed Christina from Spunk Salon over here, and I still made the "long" journey into the city to get my hair cut because Christina is the best! She understands that bizarre art of cutting curly hair in a way that it looks great both at the time and as it grows out (no weird "Christmas tree" type layers here, my friends!) and the salon is clean, friendly and has a cool hipster vibe in decoration. Jody is flexible, listens to me and has great suggestions even if I keep coming back for the same cut/color and sometimes highlights. I come to this salon to see Faith Allen. She does great cuts and color. My hair is waist length, thick and coarse, yet she manages to work her magic on it so it looks great when I walk out of the salon and when it's growing out. This is definitely a challenge because I only remember to get it cut once or twice a year. The other thing is I hate to brush my hair so my other challenge to her is that it needs to look great when I wake up without brushing and only a little finger combing. My stylist Jody Kinney moved to this salon just recently and it's great!  First about Jody.  I actually divorced my previous stylist for her!  She understands men's hair, and she most definitely understands mine.  For years I had been going to a perfectly lovely stylist who did nothing special to (or for) my hair.  From Jody's first cut my hair never looked better.  It looks good coming out of the salon and grows out right over the course of five weeks. It never gets that 'ick' look you get from a haircut from a cheap place that has overgrown the cut. I have dense hair with a slight wave and she knows just what to do with it.  So many stylists haven't.She gives great advice (pat your hair dry don't rub the heck out of!).  She turned me toward quality product.  She is willing to try new things and then is a good counselor when something I want may not work with my hair type.  I recently lost a good amount of weight and she helped me find a new style to go with my new look  She's great at making me look both age-appropriate but also more cutting edge than I've ever been.Her rates are extremely reasonable for the time and care she takes.  She clearly loves to style hair. And she's a great colorist too!  I loved my subtle highlights (and love that she is very careful not to go too far too fast with color). Her new salon is a great place to get a haircut or color .  It's edgy without being pretentious, retro without being cutesy.  The wood tones and mixture of natural light and amber from the bulbs around the station mirrors make it super inviting and relaxing. It gives off a cool vibe without being too hipster or too Google-y.  It's a newer salon and it's a great find in a city with not dearth of great salons. I feel really guilty writing this but I think I'm happier with new hairdresser Deb. Due to circumstances my old hairdresser of 8 years moved to the East Bay. I was continuing to BART over there just to get my haircut but knew it wasn't a long term solution. A friend of mine recommended Deb at Saviours Salon - a convenient 10 min walk from my apt.And I haven't looked back.I have a short pixie cut but was getting kinda tired of the same thing. Deb hacked away at it (no other way to describe the method) and voila! I got a cool rock n' roll haircut - long on top, short on the sides - that I can tame down or wear spikey messy. Love it!Deb is super nice and personable. And she can style all kinds of hair. A lot of my friends all come to her salon to get their hair done with her and we all have different hair types and personal styles, and everyone's haircut is great.I feel bad saying this but I might like her better than my previous hairdresser, whom I loved. I first met Jody at Glen Park Salon about 4 months ago when another salon cancelled my appointment last minute.  I'm SO glad she gave me her cell number, because I called recently to schedule an appointment and found out she moved here.  This place has such a cool ambiance, so much better than Glen Park Salon.  And Jody continues to impress.  She never scoffs when I come in and ask for something completely different than what I had before...I always joke that I change my hair color/cut more than I change my underwear!  And Jody welcomes that with open arms and embraces the creativity with her own ideas and suggestions.  Can't wait for my next appointment!
