Q&As

Great photographs are created, not "taken". Through my 50+ years of experience, unlike other less-experience photographers, I am not learning how to make the images, on your dime. I have done projects like yours before, and I will guarantee in writing that you will be pleased with my work.

My first question is always: how will these photographs be used? Much about how the photographs are made depends on the final usage. For example, if a photograph is for a billboard, the resolution needs to be very different than a photo that is used for a business card. The next question generally is: who is your customer or client? I tailor the way I create my images to the audience that we are trying to attract. For example, there is a big difference in the customer for a $59 plated silver bracelet, than there is for a $30,000 diamond tennis bracelet. Yes, of course both need excellent photography, but there are differences. For example, I might shoot the $59 bracelet on a bathroom countertop, while I might shoot the $30,000 bracelet next to a luxury automobile key fob. We always need to be aware of who are our customers and clients.

I absolutely LOVE my profession! There are many reasons. One of the most thrilling aspects of my work is to bring success to my clients. I also love working with people and creating beautiful and impactful images that create sales. A quick story...I once met with a furniture manufacturer. I showed him my work and he was very impressed. But he already had photos made by another photographer. After I left, and unbeknown to me, he called one of the furniture manufacturers in my sample photos to ask about my photography. That manufacturer told him "after Sandy photographed our designs, sales significantly increased". THAT is what I love most about my job! And by the way...the second furniture manufacturer wound up having me redo all his photography.

I studied photography at the University of Miami and one of my professors, was Wilson Hicks, the founding photo editor of Life Magazine. Prof. Hicks inspired me to make photography my career. He truly loved my photography and that greatly influenced me. Hicks literally "wrote the book" on photojournalism so his approval meant much to me. After than I worked for a few years as a photojournalist at a newspaper. While at the paper, along with another photographer from the paper, we started this business. I bought him out about 3 years later and since then it is history. I have been in this business for over 50 years and I'm still loving it!

There are several reasons that a client should entrust me to their photographic needs.

1) My years of experience are important...I am not learning how to do a photo project on "your dime". I already know how to make the images you need to sell your product or service.

2) I am a people person and I am easy to work with. I value that my clients have entrusted me with something so important to their business as photography. Some of the photographers have a reputation of being "difficult to work with". I am easy to work with.

3) Most importantly, I offer a money-back guarantee in writing. What this means is that if you are not totally pleased with my work, I will refund your money. I can make this pledge because no client has ever needed to take me up on it. You don't know me and I want you to be confident that you will be happy with my photography. I will made sure you are totally pleased. If not, you will not be charged.

I am able to photograph in person at your location or at my studio. If you prefer a remote approach, I can shoot in my studio an you can view via Zoom online and we can discuss each photograph as it is being made. I have also been fully vaccinated against COVID and I always wear a mask when I am with other people.

Great question! I have been fully vaccinated with two Moderna COVID shots. I always wear a highly effective mask when I am with other people. I can shoot remotely in my studio and you can view via Zoom and direct me during the shoot. I am just as concerned with COVID as you are, and I want all involved to be safe.

Services

One of my specialties is photographing small products. These range from electronics, to food, jewelry, cosmetics, and any other items smaller than a large appliance.

One of my specialties is photography of jewelry. As you know, jewelry requires special equipment, knowledge of the special techniques, and most importantly, years of experience of jewelry photography. I meet all of those requirements. Please ask for samples. I will be happy to discuss your project with you on the phone, via email, or in person.

I have many years of experience photographing cosmetics for a large number of manufacturers. Whether the project is photographing jars, bottles, ingredients, or a model using the cosmetics, I have the experience to create images that will sell your product. Please contact me so we can discuss the details.

One of my favorite subjects to photograph is food. I have shot for years for food packaging, for menu boards in restaurants, for print ads and for websites on the Internet. Food photography requires a number of skills that I have mastered in my 50+ years of professional experience. Please ask for samples. I will be happy to discuss your needs on the phone, by email, or in person.
