San Diego Leather Restorations

I found SDLR after doing some research with online companies and of course here with YELP. I read every review and was more than impressed. I have a 12 year old, white leather sectional that is in 6 pieces. I love this piece. We decided to invest in quality years ago. After a cross country move and 3 pets, awful Texas humidity and scorching heat, this set has seen better days.It was discolored, threading was almost black, torn in places, sunken in cushions and was more of an off white in color.We decided on trashing it, because no one would buy it. After shopping around, I was not happy with what I was finding in stores and online. We are more the contemporary modern type. What we did like was way out of our price range. I guess we bought our sofa pre modern hype.This is when I decided to restore what we have.A contacted Allison, sent her photos and she immediately responded back with a quote. Fabio came within days to pick up the set.We had just closed on our new condo and I was worried that when completed we were not going to be at the same location. And we werent. Allison informed me 8 days later that my sofa was ready to be delivered. I gave her my new address and Fabio and his assistant showed up, right on time.When they brought the first piece in, I was almost in tears. I was looking at a brand new sofa. The white was so white as my teeth were from smiling. When all pieces were in the condo, Fabio and team conditioned the sofa right there. I am telling all of you YELPERS, this has exceeded my expectations.Payment was simple and was done through VENMO. This process was effortless and painless. The most work was in doing the research but the reward is seeing my sofa in better than new condition.I tried to send before and after photos but you just cannot see the improvements as clear in the photos. The team at San Diego Leather Restoration did a fantastic job restuffing, redying, and reconditioning a 25-year-old Scandinavian leather recliner.  They picked up the chair, leaving us with many many samples so that we could find exactly the right color. SDLR is by the best company I have had the pleasure of working with; maybe ever. The team Melony, Allison, and Fabio worked an absolute miracle on my black leather pull out couch. Due to poor storage conditions for an unknown period of time, it was faded badly, cracked, some of the pillows were torn and sagging, and I think it even had a little mildew.To begin Melony took the time to ask several pertinent questions to ensure not only that the couch could be fixed to meet my high expectations, thereby not wasting my time and money. Fortunately the grain of leather was high quality and the structural frame and springs where all in decent shape.What sets these folks apart from the rest is not only the extreme skill; Alison re-stuffed the pillows indicating the work in addition to hand sewing every area that needed it. The work was to perfection, soft, with a nice luster (not shine), and the color was exact, not a spot was missed. They went above and beyond to get my furniture to the shop and back (see below). I could also rely on them to return my calls within a very reasonable amount of time, the same day and usually within an hour or so. I never felt rushed or like an inconvenience (which I was without a doubt). They kept me posted during the entire process, allowing me time to plan in my busy schedule as well as not worry. (Side note; I have been renovating for nearly one year now and it has been a roller coaster to put it mildly. The team was sensitive to this and made every effort to put my mind at ease. Okay so this was not like adding a floor - which I did btw, but my anxiety level from dealing with incompetence and con artists was though the roof).Melony went out of her way to be the go between the owners to work out a schedule to meet mine, which entailed moving furniture around in their area to make room.  Which I did not end up doing anyway b/c of the dates. Instead they made an arrangement so I could drop the couch off at a private location for which then needed to be transported to the work shop.On top of that they delivered the couch over 50 miles north to my home for only $75 which included negotiating bushes, small pathways, and hills to get to the back of my condo building because it would not fit through the front door and around the bends of the staircase to the 3rd floor where I wanted it. This was no easy feat, believe me. I don't know of any company that would have been so accommodating. Once we got the couch situated, there was not a scratch or ding or anything that would be expected due to this tricky ordeal.Not only could I afford to spend easily $8-$10K to replace this couch, I could have very well have looked for a very long time trying to find something similar. I have yet to see another sleeper couch with contemporary simple streamlines and style.Not to be redundant, still worth repeating, SDLR are wonderful people, easy to work with and extremely skilled at their trade. I feel enormously grateful as a relax and write this review from my awesome couch/bed. I bought a regular mattress to replace the old thin mattress it came with and use it as my bed (they also helped me with this). It is the most comfortable bed ever. Last but not least, I feel like I did something for the environment by recycling what I believe others may have lost hope in. Not even my family would go to such measures. And friends, it's just like the TV commercial, they become very scarce when it comes to helping out with narly projects such as this.Thank you Allison, Melony and Fabio! Carol More...

I had an expensive leather couch that was getting a little worse for the wear. I was considering buying a new one, but received SD Leather Restorations ad, and decided to look into having it restored. Boy, am I glad I did. The couch looks brand new and I could not be happier with the job Melony and Christian did. They explained the process and set my expectations. They were very professional and prompt. The whole process took about ten days. They also restored a leather and wood rocking chair and it looks brand new as well. They even re-stained the wood, which I was not expecting. San Diego leather restoration is pretty amazing. I have a 17 year old couch and love seat. My couch needed new padding and some leather tears fixed and the color restored and some moisture and health put back into the couch. Instead of spending $8,000-$10,000 to buy new couches we got our couch, love seat completely restored and even a crappy Jerome's sitting chair reupholstered all beautifully done for under $5,000. The investment made is ensured to last another 17 years. I'm just looking around the house of what else can I have done to keep sending business to Alison and her staff. They do amazing work. I came across San Diego Leather Restoration by chance.  I called them and scheduled a cleaning of my leather sofa and love seats.  They are amazing!  Melanie and Christian came out and gave me their honest opinion of the work needed for my sofa (I thought I would need to have more work done & spend more money, but they convinced me otherwise saving me hundreds of dollars).  I've got 2 teenage boys and 2 dogs and my couches look like they did 6 years ago when we purchased them!  We spent quite a bit of money on good quality couches, so it is important for me to continue to maintain them!  I will use San Diego Leather Restoration again! We chose SD Leather Restoration b/c of the great reviews on Yelp.  Melanie did not disappoint !  She came out right away, gave her expert opinion, took our ottoman first to make sure she could restore our Scandinavian style lounge chair. ....I had tried difference products for years trying to make it look better and there was lots of buildup on the furniture.After showing us her work on the ottoman, she took the chair away and returned it a week later.  My furniture looks brand new!  Professional, knowledgable, personable and so much more! I cannot give enough stars to this business. We had a 15 year old cream colored Roche Bobois couch that was so dirty and tired but it was so expensive that we wanted to try to give it new life. I spoke with Melony and she asked me to send a photo and she assured me that it was worth restoring.  She was so professional and continued to keep in touch with me throughout the short process. When my couch was delivered back to me a week later, it looked like a brand new couch. It is perfect!!! I cannot even believe the amazing results! I couldn't be happier with the entire process!
