We've been to this location on multiple occasions. We've always ordered pizza and salads. Today we decided to order sandwiches. I just want to make sure everyone who orders the Italian Hero that is pictured is not disappointed. It is nothing like the photo. If you want it hot as pictured you get Italian sausage peppers and onions. We ordered the Italian Hero expecting to get the sliced deli meats and cheese with the vegetables on the toasted bread. Huge bummer to get the Italian sausage and the peppers mixture in its place. What's even worse is we took the food to go, got home before we discovered the switch. My husband immediately went back to the restaurant and spoke with the manager. He claimed the photo was just how the bread comes to them and it's a cold sandwich. Even though when ordering it he asked if we wanted it hot or cold. The photo of the sandwich online was misleading to say the least. The whole situation was just wrong. Sometime how you handle customer satisfaction that can make or break the relationship. Very disappointing for sure. More...

The Grandma Pie is so very good. In comparison to the NY Style Pizza, I find it leagues better. Without trying anything else on the menu, I can say Sal knows his stuff and he knows it well. Truth be told, everything is going to vary by the taste of the individual so me not liking the NY Style should not deter anyone from it. It's certainly better quality than what you can get from any of these massive chain restaurants. More...

I was disappointed tonight buying a pizza. I ordered a meatball pizza and not only were there very few pieces of meatball but there were some raw onions scattered in it as well. Did not find that out until I got home with the pizza!! I asked the person at counter if this is all the meatball they put on and they said yes. I said they fill the pepperoni pizza so you cannot even see the cheese. I am paying the same $3.00 for the topping. Also, the meatballs have no taste or seasoning. Very bland. I will not buy this pizza again. I cannot find a way to contact the Owner or Manager either. Not on website. More...

Acceptable and affordable food court type New York style pizza, located in the food court next to the movie theaters. Perhaps a little bit too much sauce on it, and the sauce is somewhat bland - but at least the slices still have a level of crispness to them and they do not flop around in your hand when you lift them off the plate. Selection can change, but generally they offer cheese, pepperoni, pepperoni and sausage, white pizza, Hawaiian and 1 or two others. Good sized slices (but not as huge as other New York pizza places) plus a "grandma slice" available. Lunch specials typically $8 for 2 slices and a drink. Slices individually run from $3.50 to $3.75 as of Dec 31, 2021. Garlic knots from $3 for three to $9 for a dozen. Strombolis for $10. Pasta for $11-13. Salads from $5-7. Calzones from $12. Grandma Pie is 12" or 16". New York Pie is 14" or 18". Sicilian Pie is 16". Cannolis are available for $3 or $5. The food is all pre-made and then popped in the pizza oven for a quick heat up and finish. It is therefore served hot. Fountain drinks for $2.25 or $2.75, but the "regular" cups are very small - only as large as a typical 12 ounce coke can - and a cold, canned coke there costs you less: only $2.00, so look at the sizes before you buy. Very Limited indoor seating but plenty of shared outdoor seating in the rest of the food court. Outdoor seating is both covered under the actual building and open air with umbrellas, so even if it is rainy, windy or hot outside, you are still shielded well. Good to bring kids here, because there are other restaurants only a few steps away in the food court - Vietnamese, Kabobs, Japanese, Indian, Rubios, etc. - several places in the same food court - so you can get the kids pizza that is affordable and decent while you grab something different. Adults will find the pizza okay, too, but it is nothing special, and when we specifically want New York or Sicilian Style Pizza, we still tend to go to a regular Italian restaurant. Pasta here was nothing special, either: choice of Penne or Spaghetti with either meat sauce or marinara for $11-12. Fettuccine Alfredo for $13. We found the meat sauce to be very "meh". I make a lot better at home, but I am not running a fast food restaurant and serving hundreds or thousands each day. Sal's is still fast food in a movie theater food court, so you don't expect anything gourmet or spectacular. It is designed to give you a quick food fix so you can get next door and make your showtime. More...

In our time there, we have eaten at some of the best pizza places like Gino's East, Illuminatis, Original Rays, and others. Evaluating a pizza restaurant-store is like many restaurants; extremely objective. So to give a brief on my approach... I most enjoy pizza dough that has been baked off in a wood fired oven. I do enjoy that char-burnt aroma and flavor. Sal's does use gas fired ovens. Not a qualitative comment, just letting you know my preference. I should add that we should have asked for a 'thin crust'...... because what we were served was evidently their default medium thick crust. And I'll add that 'thin crust' to us means not cracker thin, but thin enough to have a crisp texture. So why Sal's..........My wife and I made this a destination pizza trip, as it was our first time at the new location, or any location of Sal's, in the Foothill Ranch location. And frankly, it was both based on Yelp reviews, preceeded by seeing ads and linked videos on Facebook. Being a Saturday, we invited our two oldest grand girls and one of their friends. They'd been there before and liked it. No gushing praise, but like us, felt it was a solid 'good'...... not the greatest we've experienced. What we ordered........My wife and I arrived first and ordered a slice of the Ham & Pineapple for me, and The Greek for my wife. These two were the best we experienced. Prior to the kids arriving I then ordered a 'half-n-half'; Marguerite and Meat Lovers. Because both our pieces were a bit soagy, I specified that the pie be baked to 'crispy.' All the pizza we ate was true to reviewer's words...... REALLY FRESH INGREDIENTS....... such that I could actually taste each item added to the pie. As for overall flavor, there was something missing and I suspect it's the pie dough and how it was baked. Maybe the ovens were running a bit on the cool side. I don't know. But I definitely was hoping for that brick oven, wood flavor. However, I can praise a gas oven pizza....... just not this one. Summary.........This is, in my humble opinion, a solid 4-star, and presumably consistent pizza parlor. For whatever reason, I trust their 'by the piece' more than their full pies. At about $4 per slice, you'll go from, say for their premium pies at $24 or so, to 8 slices large for $32. But you do get variety. And remember that they're handling 8 pieces of pizza where they'd only manage one piece if you commit to a full pizza. I'd enjoy talking to Sal about the details in how to best order his product. The fact that he wasn't there made me wonder if their 'business side' owner has enough on-premises time invested. (?) I don't know, but think that it might help. Maybe I just wasn't there at the right time to meet the owner or Sal. (?) More...

I'll get straight to the point... this is HANDS DOWN the best pizza place in the area! We've had Sal's over 15 times in the past year and has been excellent every time! I order online and it's ready to go when they say it is. What's even better is that they keep your pizza warm until you arrive unlike most places that just have it sitting out. They even keep your ranch dressings/cold sides in the fridge so they stay at proper temp until pick up. It's the little things... right? On to the pizza, their traditional pizza is a thin, New York Style, crust that has a great texture with a tasty sauce. Our favorite has been the Nona Lucia, which has their homemade mozzarella!! This has been a hit for the household! Everything on the menu is super good and the staff is always friendly! Pro Tip: Their pizzas are HUGE.
