I have waited EIGHT YEARS in this amazing state to finally feel like myself while in my hair. I am SO grateful for the thoughtful detail, conversation, guidance, and energy from Katie at Salon Povera! She makes her artistry and talent look effortless. The whole experience was just a dream. The staff so clearly cares about all of their guests, remembering each face that entered personally. I was able to give Katie some moderate guidance and let just her do her magic... Perhaps the best decision I've made all year! As an added bonus, my hair actually smells wonderful! Lane is the best. He really prides himself on educating his clients and unlike many hairdressers I've had in the past, he solves my problems (frizzy, loss of wave & fullness, etc) instead of merely robbing my wallet. I ask for lots of layers, easy maintanence.

From my days in San Francisco, I was convinced that color and cutting was like internal medicine and surgery -- excellence requires specialization. BUT LANE DOES BOTH. Natural looking highlights are his jam, but I have full confidence that if I asked for anything wild, he'd nail it. My bestie was visiting from out of state and desperately wanted a haircut. She's half Japanese - straight jet black beautifully thick long hair -- opposite of my white girl "dirty blond almost-curly but not" hair, and he just killed it. She loved it.

It's always scary to try someone new, but you should have the utmost confidence trying Lane. :)

Also, Patrick who owns the salon and the other stylists are all really wonderful and a total riot. I'm a huge fan of the whole team. Great atmosphere. Also, they offer you wine (and non-alc beverages, too) so I always try to schedule later appointments to start my happy hour a little early! More...

I now live in Manhatten and have access to many salons in the city. However, after going to Patrick for the last 13 years, I always book flights to NC around the time I need my hair done. He has done everything from a cut/color, to a bridal portrait and wedding. With the upmost professionalism, he is both creative and genious! Trust is the most important part of a relationship.... With your hairstylist. And I have never trusted anyone with my hair as I do Brittany Rich.

Watching her work on my hair is akin to what I imagine watching Michelangelo paint the Sistine chapel is like. She is so focused, deliberate, and meticulous - and everything looks perfect every time.

I used to be scared of getting my hair done - for me it was like what going to the dentist is like for some people. Brittany changed that, and she was the very first person I ever trusted to do color in my hair. Now I am a convert. She had done ombré, highlights, and Balayage. She also always cuts my hair to perfection and does not take off more than we agree upon. Furthermore, since she knows I am scared of getting my hair done, she walks me through everything she is doing.

I followed her from her former salon, and the new space at Povera is very sleek and modern. The owner is very nice and friendly. The layout is open so there are no mysteries. You can see them mixing the color just across the room. More...

I went in yesterday with a real challenge for Pam! I've been dying my medium brown hair a rich auburn for 10+ years. But I wanted to embrace the grey/silver that was coming in and stop fighting it, so I decided to go silver all over. I stopped dying my hair about 7 months ago in preparation and had a free consult with Pam the other week. She was the first stylist I met who seemed confident it could be accomplished without 3-6 treatments and without significant damage to my hair.

It took 6 hours, 2 bleach treatments, and 2 tones but we got there! I am rocking the Devil Wears Prada hair now and everyone at my job has been dying over it. Also my new shorter razored bob is super cute, very edgy without looking old-ladyish! My hair does not look or feel fried and the color is gorgeous. It's not a flawless silver, but that's impossible to achieve on my kinda of hair in one sitting. But it's darn close, with just a few streaks of very light blonde in it that looks quite natural can easily be addressed with some purple shampoo once a week.

I'll be coming back in about 4-5 weeks, after my hair has had time to recover and receives few deep conditioning treatment, to get one last silver toning. After that my inner silver fox will finally be outer for everyone to see! More...

I don't even have the words! Brittany Rich is a miracle worker and an angel. I came in following a bleaching DISASTER where I lost around 50% of my hair.
She kept me calm, but was honest about the process it would take to get my hair healthy again. They poured me a huge glass of wine, and she worked her magic. My hair feels healthier than it has in months, and by that afternoon I was already getting compliments on it! I've been in the area for 6+ years and haven't found a stylist I want to stay with until now- and she's certainly not getting rid of me anytime soon!

Great first experience! I will be back and I would recommend to any of my friends. Patrick was amazing and really knew what he was talking about. I didn't really understand how much of a science hair color is, but he knows it all and I felt completely at ease sitting in his chair. He is confident without being cocky, and has awesome results to back it up 100%. I have suffered from brassy hair color for years but Patrick was able to knock it out in one visit. He let me know that it will continue to improve after more visits, but it is already so much better than I could have imagined. Everyone in the salon was friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed the atmosphere. If you're thinking about scheduling an appointment here, do it now! You won't regret it. More...

Salon Povera is owned by one of the nicest and most friendly owners. It's hard for me to trust people with my curly hair, but Patrick made me feel comfortable from the very start. I told him about the problems I often have and talked to him about hair color. After giving me multiple suggestions, he pretty much told me what he wanted to do and his plan. I trusted him and it was really nice having someone tell me what they think the plan should be and why. I loved watching him enjoy cutting my curly hair. He was able to get me in during the busy holidays and he is very easy to communicate with through txt. After having to go in for a quick touch up, I love my hair cut and new color. I chose PATRICK to recut my hair, but I feel strongly that the other stylists would have been great choices due to the other reviews.I loved that Patrick understood my finer hair and could see immediately where the last cut went wrong. As a hairdresser from a zillion years ago I could feel and see Patrick assess and reassess my locks as he went along. He is truly an artist and understands the mathematics of an exceptional cut. This place is near Southpoint Mall over ACROSS the street from the Kroger (which may be shut down soon?) and McD's-- Right next to the new Sprouts Grocery Market on Rt 54!! Gemina Hayes is a wonderful stylist. She is very knowledgeable about all hair types. I’m mixed so my hair has a lot of different textures and Gemina knows what products are best for my hair type. She uses products accordingly which I feel is very critical in getting the outcome that you desire.I had color for a while and she was very good at matching the same color each time I came in as well as maintaining the upkeeping of my hair.
