So I've never done anything special to my hair. The most I've done is getting a bob for the summer. Just recently I wanted to get highlights, but I didn't know where to go. I found out about salon Gerard and heard really good reviews. So I decided to get highlights, The stylist who did my hair Heidi Woo did a fantastic job. This salon has a beautiful set up, windows everywhere. Never seen a salon stacked with this much talent honestly. Vivian Chen, who was my colorist/stylist herself is nothing short of a genius when it comes to making your hair come out better than the vision you have into reality. I came in with flat, dull over processed hair and I missed being my natural color. Going Blonde to dark hair isn't has tortuous. She didn't just make my hair dark, she made sure it still had dimension to it. Their was a wonderful lady who shampooed and dry styled my hair as well she had a warm personality and deeply cared about what she was doing. Chenelle is terrific. I highly recommend her for one of the best blow outs I have ever had. She is also great with beach waves. She truly is a wizard with the blow dryer! honestly, wish i could give more than five stars. Caroline Cafferty hath slayed my existence. I came in with super jacked up looking hair, bleached terribly at home from dark brown to a gross blonde w purple and green (i looked so crusty the before photo does not do it justice), and she got me to the lilac i wanted. she took time to talk to me, see photos of what i wanted and she worked SO HARD so make sure my hair was exactly what i wanted. I had such a lovely hair appointment with Heidi Woo. I came in with some seriously burnt out hair (multiple rounds of balayage had left my super fine hair yellow and brittle). I wasn't sure what I needed (more balayage?!), but Heidi immediately suggested a combination of highlights and lowlights to bring back a healthy glow and restore a natural look to my hair. She expertly chose an ash-toned color combination, with a few warm accents, which worked perfectly for me. She then carefully cut off three inches of hair which were no longer serving me. The multi dimensional color and short, blunt cut have add volume and jujj back to my hair. I've gotten tons of compliments and feel much younger with my new do. Also: this is was my first time at Salon Gerard. There was no wait, the space was lovely, and all the stylists and staff were very professional.  Overall a great experience. More...

Caroline is amazing! I'm a low maintenance hair person - I want my hair to look great but I don't want to spend a lot of time doing it. She knows this about me and always gives me cuts that are seemingly easy to maintain and always suggests great products to make hair-dos that much easier. Chenelle is truly one of the best! My mom had her on an off day and fell in love. As a puerto-rican/African-American female, it is rare to find someone who can work with my curls but doesn't abuse them. Do yourself a favor and get your hair done by ISIS!  I have been looking for a new hair dresser for a while.  I have my hair colored once a month to cover gray.  I wanted to change my hair color to brown with lighter chocolate balayage.  I have always had issues when people dye my hair brown.  Either it's too dark (almost black) or too red or just flat and ashey with no dimension.  That was not the case with ISIS.  This is the most beautiful chocolate brown EVER!  It's the brown I've always wanted but never got.  I will be going back to see ISIS monthly from now on. Let's just say before my hair transformation I looked like a Witch on Halloween night. I died my hair the darkest shade of black. Big mistake!The next day I was searching for the best salon in the Bethesda area to fix my hair of terror! I chose Salon Gerard and made an appointment with Vivan. Now to the Hair appointment, to begin the parking was a breeze especially in Bethesda. As soon as I arrived I was greeted and checked in by Adriane. Who shampoos amazing and is an upcoming stylist! Soon after, my appointment with Vivian began! Let me tell you! Vivian is an amazing and a talented artist! She asked me what I was looking for, listened to my concerns, and with confidence said "I can do it".I was so worried how my hair would turn out because I'm very particular with my hair but as soon as that blow dryer started showing the masterpiece Vivian had made, I was in shock!!It was exactly what I was looking for! I followed Caroline Cafferty here from another salon because she does such a fantastic job with my hair. She knows what works without my having to tell her in much detail what to do. She's able to work with how my hair lays naturally and give me a cut that looks great regardless of if I take the time to style it or just let it air dry. It even looks good after it's grown out! I've been here a couple times now with Rachel and she truly is a master of color. Last spring she did my blond highlights and they looked amazing. I don't get my hair done often and she colored it masterfully so as it grew out it still looked amazing. This fall I decided to go for a dark brown color. She did a great job but my color didn't turn out as dark as I had hoped because my hair was so light to begin with. I slept on it and the next day Rachel reaches out to make sure I was happy and if not that she would correct it. The color was so pretty but just not what I wanted, so she got me in the next day and made it everything I wanted (at no additional cost). Thank you so much! I highly recommend!!! More...

I've been going to Salon Gerard for close to two years now and I've never had anything but a great experience. Rachel does a fantastic job dying and cutting my hair - it always looks great! Plus she, and everyone else there, have both amazing customer service and are just fun to talk to.  Rachel's a master at color, and it shows - I always get compliments after she does my hair. I saw Vivian She was amazing Love my hair!!!She did the color. They use Goldwell.  She put a gloss on the hair shaft after the color application on the roots. I love the even color, the shine and condition of my hair.  It tends to be dry and damaged from heat styling.Great cut!The girl who shampooed my hair also gave me an amazing massage.Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I felt right at home and relaxed.The experience was refreshing. Gotta say I was a bit nervous cutting off about 7 inches of my hair today...it hasn't been this short in years! But Gerard was so amazing and he seemed so excited to help me with my transformation. Amanda Barry at Salon Gerard has forever changed what I thought was possible with my hair!!!  Upon walking in to the well-situated Wilson Blvd location, I was immediately Struck by the beauty of the salon itself.  Tall, cavernous ceilings and tons of natural light made for an airily inviting space.  Amanda greeted me with a smile upon my walking in and immediately took me over to her chair where she offered me refreshments.  After exchanging a few words and photos of my desired style, she quickly got to work mixing bleach for my balayage.  When processing was finished, I toned a tad too ash-ily for my liking.  She was immediately and effortlessly able to correct it.  She then gave me a cut that respected and accentuated the asymmetrical cut I had given myself a few months before.  All of this was amazingly well and good, but the BEST part of this whole experience - was the blow out.  Amanda transformed my frizzy, poofy, wavy, allergic-to-humidity hair into sleek, shiny, liquid caramel.  It BOUNCED!  I was so in awe, I wanted to cry.  And you can bet I stretched that blow out four days.  Then I wanted to cry again when I attempted my own blow out and failed miserably.  Practice makes perfect, I guess.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You can bet I'll be back again for blow outs and maintenance, alike.  Thank you Amanda and Salon Gerard!!! I've gone to see Nadine now twice! I first went for a drastic cut and she knocked it out of the park!! The time and effort she put into making my hair perfect was awesome! The second time I went, I was going from my natural brunette colored hair, to a blonde balayage-like color. Again, she didn't disappoint! My blonde came out close to the platinum color I was looking for, with no orange or yellow tones! My favorite thing about going to see Nadine is that you can go in not knowing what you really want to do with your hair, and if you put your trust in her, she will without a doubt WOW you! I have actually never written a review about my hair stylist. Unfortunately, my stylist moved away and I was forced to find another new stylist. I have moved around myself so I have had several stylists over the years- all good and I have been satisfied with the results- all fairly similar.  But after my first appointment with Nadine,​ I had to write about my experience​. She was amazing. She listened to what I wanted and offered her advice based on my hair​ color and type- and then she delivered​ better than I could have imagined.  She gave me the best color that I have ever had -you won't go wrong with Nadine- she is the Best! The salon has great lighting because it's all windows and the location is very central and convenient (you can park at the school across the street on the weekends which is a nice perk). I rarely write reviews and this took me far too long to write, but I absolutely had to rave about Nadine. I rely heavily on yelp and user reviews so I wanted to pay it forward and spread the word about Nadine. She is AMAZING. Seriously talented colorist, who is also a blast to spend a few hours with (no minor detail when you're stuck sitting with someone for ages as you get your hair done). I was obsessed as soon as I walked out, and as the weeks have passed continue to be thrilled with how my hair has grown out and how natural it looks. I've been getting tons of compliments ever since I went to her. For me, the big sell for Nadine is her subtlety. She is truly talented (trained in super high end salons in nyc) in a way that your color looks so natural. I want people to look at my hair and notice how amazing it looks but not for them to necessarily know WHY it looks so damn good. I don't want streaks or drama or anything that screams "I get my hair colored" - I just want it to make me look great. She REALLY knows what she is doing and I'm elated to have found her! I recently lost my hair color virginity to balayage by Nadine at Salon Gerard and I couldn't be happier! The whole process, from booking an appointment online the night before, to getting the treatment done, was super easy and painless! I get really nervous just getting a haircut so you can imagine how nervous I was to get color for the first time. After seeing reviews and photos of Nadine's work online and on Instagram, I decided to make an appointment. I showed Nadine some photos and described what I was going for - something really natural, sun-kissed and subtle. I already had natural highlights in part of my light brown hair so I just wanted to spread them more thoroughly through my hair. She knew exactly what I meant and got straight to work. The whole process took a few hours but it flew by, with water/tea/coffee available and a beautiful, bright salon to relax in. The finished product is better than I could've asked for! I've already gotten tons of compliments and everyone is impressed with how natural it looks. It also feels softer and shinier, probably from the sealing gel she used. I was also blown away at how affordable the balayage was. The base prices are really affordable for the value, and the website also had a $30 coupon for new color clients. I even got a free Kerasilk product for booking in September, amazing! I'm definitely a loyal new customer to this new Bethesda salon. I ventured out of the city to try this new salon in Bethesda in hopes of saving a buck or two.  The location is .3 miles from the Bethesda metro stop, so very conveniently located for anyone familiar with the metro. The salon itself is striking from the outside and difficult to miss with its' mint green exterior.  Inside, the salon has tons of natural light and I really appreciated that having gone to so many underground salons in DC over the past couple of years.Now for the hair!  I asked for partial highlights and a cut.  Nadine looked at my hair and suggested we do some low-lights as well to help with the summertime brassiness of my blonde. What a great idea! My hair looks so fresh and natural and I feel ready for fall! My hair is very thick and takes a long time to color but she was patient and easy to talk to.   The cut is just what I was hoping for and she gave my hair lots of movement.  I just wish it would stay like this forever!  The price was also reasonable and less than what I pay in D.C.Overall this was a great experience and I would love to visit Salon Gerard and see Nadine again. Nadine did a wonderful job with my bridal party's hair for my recent wedding. My bridesmaids were wearing coordinating, but not matching, dresses, and Nadine was able to create a unique updo for each of them that matched their individual style. Each also had a custom flower hair piece, which she was able to work into her styling easily. We chatted beforehand, and on my wedding day she extremely helpful, positive, and fun. I went in to have my hair done by Nadine and the results are amazing. She was able to take what I did a really bad job of explaining and translate it into a beautiful color. I have lived in DC for a few years and had yet to find a place that did highlights that I liked at a reasonable price. I went to Salon Gerard right before my engagement pictures for an appointment with Shelley. Right off the bat she was super friendly and engaging. She nailed my highlights and although we ran out of time for a trim, she offered to style my hair for my engagement pictures. I have a ton of hair so Gerard even stepped in to help since it was taking forever for my hair to dry. I walked out of the salon feeling confident and happy and I loved my hair in my pictures.
