The best fencing academy in texas

My daughter took class here for about 9 months, and it was an overall very positive experience.  She started as a true beginner and gained a great deal of skill and confidence over that time period.  She likely would have continued if she wasn't involved in a number of other activities that took up a substantial amount of time.  The only slight issue I had was with a bit of difficulty getting my daughter signed up for class and with communicating about payment.  I would recommend Salle Mauro for any child looking for a very unique and challenging sports experience! I'm from Los Angeles and was visiting the Houston area and wanted my kid to get a little practice in while we were there. This place was perfect . She was able to drop in on the kids' class and was able to get a private lesson. The instructor and staff were welcoming and they were all awesome with my kid.   Instructor was really trying to help her understand some of the fundamentals she lacked which I'm thankful for. Whole heartedly recommend this place.  Equipment rental was free. You can find the schedule online. Prices were super reasonable. Our first class was only $10! Private lesson was also a great deal compared to LA so major bonus. More...

(Speaking for my 5 year old fencer)The coaches are wonderful. There are many qualified coaches and no matter how advanced they are they have not forgotten the fundamentals. A walk through of the class:They begin the class with warm ups (running, jumping, balance and some flexibility activities)They play little games little red light green light but modify it using fencing terms that help practice their stances. They work alone with their gear on then move to partner activities. It is fun for kids and helps develop good characteristics (balance, obedience, coordination, responsibility, communication, teamwork, and more) I've noticed private lessons but don't know what they entail. Seems great for all ages. More...

Q&As

During our classes, we focus on an intense warmup which includes different exercises then we switch to teaching fencing footwork which is also part of our training. Finally, we start fencing which trains your body to move with agility and increases your hand-eye coordination skills.

You have to work hard to achieve your goals and when you are training you have to eat healthy, exercise consistently, and be patient.

We love how different training can be from day-to-day. We don't have a routine that ties us down we always find news ways to train and exercise. Especially when you fence different people, you tend to use different tactics to win.

Not many people were aware of this unique sport, so we wanted to introduce the city of Houston to the sport of fencing.

We have world-renowned trainers and fencers from all over the world training at our fencing academy.,.
