What can you tell me about your ideal customer? What does success look like or rather how do you currently gauge success?

Imagine a Venn diagram with two circles, side by side, overlapping to reveal a football shape in the middle. One circle is labeled "Business objectives" while the other is labeled "Customer needs." I have found it's where those two circles intersect that you'll find the place to start. Unfortunately, it's not full of awesome action photography, heart-pounding video, or deep introspective copy but good 'ol fashioned research.
