I started seriously running a couple months ago, but was starting to develop knee and shin pain... realized that my shoes from 5+ years ago were probably not conducive to running, and also probably not the right fit. I had heard amazing things about Fleet Feet... so I walked in for the first time about two week ago.My initial impression was that the staff members were not only knowledgeable, but also very happy to help. When I walked in, the staff gave me a moment to look around before approaching me--I think I must have looked a bit lost, LOL. The staff member who helped me scanned my feet, and explained to me what I needed to look for in a shoe based on my feet shape. Within minutes, he had me try on two different pairs of running shoes that felt better on my feet than any sneakers I had previously tried on, and that was before we added arch support!The staff member's knowledge made this visit the least painful shoe-purchasing experience I've ever had. I have been buying my foot ware products on Amazon.com but after only a few days of wearing what you recommended I realize how important advice and recommendations are for footwear products. I was very impressed with the level of customer service I got from Bill. He is very knowledgeable about putting someone in the right shoe.  I had been wearing a stiff stability shoe for about 10 years and had recently started developing knee pain and tight calf muscles.  I am training for a 5k, so I decided to go in to Fleet Feet for another evaluation. Bill watched me walk across the room and immediately noticed why I was having pain. He said that my feet no longer required such a stiff stability shoe.  He recommended another stability shoe that has more flexibility in the front. He explained to me that because my other shoe had little flexibility in the front, my toes and the front of my foot had lost some strength,  so my calf muscles were compensating and doing most of the work.  That made perfect sense, as I have trouble balancing in my bare feet. I bought the new shoes and ran in them today for the first time and they felt great! Bill helped me out tremendously. He didn't seem like just another sales person trying to make a sale. He listened to my concerns and recommended the best shoe for me. More...

I called 1 hr before closing and the lady who answered the phone on 5/30/17 (sorry didn't get your name) politely informed me that I should try to come in at least 30 min before closing so I can have enough time to feel and fit the shoe suitable for my flat-fat feet. The people we've dealt with there, most recently a terrific young woman this last Saturday (apologies because I'm blanking on her name) who helped my brother update his shoes and other products, have been very knowledgeable and also helpful and caring. Originally we sought out Fleet Feet upon the recommendation of my podiatrist, because my brother has trouble getting 'good' sports shows for narrow feet etc. I also had special concerns.  Their stuff so far has been pretty comfortable :"}. Their sandals btw, are the first I've ever worn!! - and help stave off the plantar fasciitis(sp) that was plaguing my brother and myself. After looking for shoes at Kohls the process took 1 hour of my precious time with no shoes to purchase. The sales associate at fleet feet was awesome! I told him I had planter fasciitis and he knew exactly what shoes for me to try on. He knew the product. In 15 minutes the sales associate picked out the right size, I tried them on- success! The sales person was friendly and knowledgeable. I liked that he watched me walk and took measurements of my feet. He then brought out three pairs of workout shoes that were all very comfortable. Can't say enough about the great service.  I had pretty specific preferences and not too much time when I went in to buy new shoes in time for the Women's March.  The sales clerk listened closely, measured my feet carefully, and brought out two pairs of shoes.  The first pair fit like a glove and I walked out wearing them.  I was delighted when I left the store and even more delighted a few days later after a long day of marching! Omg I was so impressed with Peter's customer service. Peter was the one who helped me find the perfect shoes, socks, and insoles. His patience, knowledge, expertise, and personality blew me away. I rarely receive customer service THAT outstanding from one person. Two thumbs up!I got a pair of New Balance shoes, some polyester socks (I think?), and insoles to support my type of feet. Very happy with how quickly he was able to identify the exact type of shoes I'd like and need for my situation. They have Asics, Mizuno, New Balance, and Brooks shoes here, from what I remember. They also have vitamins, water bottles, muscle rollers, workout clothes, winter gear, socks of all types, etc. My one complaint is that one of the other employees can be pushy, bothersome, and annoying. This one woman helped me with my bra fitting, and although she was wonderful and helpful with helping me find the right size, once I left the closet, you can tell she was really pushing for me to buy a bra when I wasn't interested in it. I was very surprised when I stepped out of the closet and she said "Alright, I'll go ahead and add this bra to your other items so it's all ready for you to buy!It felt like she was trying to trick me into buying it by force without asking me if I even wanted to buy a bra today. A fitting is a fitting. Don't assume people will buy an item after you help them figure out what their size is. After this, she kind of hovered over me the whole time I was texting. She kept asking if I needed any help or if I had any questions, and I kept saying I was just texting and looking around. I was looking around so I can talk about their stuff on Yelp. I got the feeling that she was trying to get me to buy more things than I needed based on how she seemed to corner me every chance she got. It was ANNOYING and uncomfortable and basically refused to back off. I liked Peter more. He left me alone to shop around after he did such an outstanding job of helping me find my perfect shoes. This place exceeded my expectations. I was helped by Bill and he demonstrated serious expertise about the shoes, the insoles, and the biomechanics of running. I ended up with a new pair of shoes and insoles, as well as instructions on how to become accustomed to the insoles.At no point did I feel rushed, and I consistently felt like everyone in the store was very attentive and serious about making sure that I was happy with the shoes I got. Highly recommend coming here to get running shoes versus going somewhere like Dicks. You're going to get knowledgable service and get shoes that match your unique needs. If I hadn't gone here I would have ended up with a shoe I wanted that I found out really didn't give me the support I need for my arches and pronation. It's rare for a store to really know what athletic shoe lends itself to what activity. I like the extra attention given to make sure the customer is leaning towards or at the least, will be maintaining optimum health. I once had a problem with plantar faphaceitis, and the customer service rep taped my foot before fitting me into the shoe that would better improve my overall health. It's been a few months now, and I'm practically pain free! I keep coming back to renew my sneakers at Feet Fleet, Gaithersburg, because I want to stay that way. Although I do not live in the neighborhood I like the local neighborhood feel of Fleet Feet. It's nice to support a local business and this business seems to be pretty busy. The several times I've been there there is always been a group of runners who meet there and leave from the front. I actually started coming here when my father needed more supportive shoes for walking and it was recommended by his dr. Although sometimes busy and you have to wait for help this Hills staff seems very knowledgeable and willing and patient enough to sit there with you while you find what you're looking for. this is a great store that specializes in running shoes, clothing, gear, and nutrition.  they also feature a weekly run club that is free to join.  runners and walkers of all abilities, ages, and sizes meet at the store, every thurs @ 1830 and sat @ 0930.i joined their weekly thurs group once and unfortunately, was very late since i got lost finding the store, but upon arrival, was greeted by a friendly staff member and given directions for that evening's route.  i cut the run short so that i could arrive back at the store in time to meet fellow runners and was able to meet some of the regular locals who run with this group.  on another occasion, i came here to shop with a girlfriend of mine and we were given top notch assistance from the staff member.  we learned a lot about their gear and accessories while browsing and my friend ended up making several purchases that day.great running store for runners of all levels and abilities.  i'll be sure to return again the next time i'm in town! Since I was early to my dinner reservation at Not Your Average Joe's, I decided to stop in Fleet Feet Sports to get longer shoe laces for my Mizuno's, more running socks, and snacks for an upcoming race. For longer shoe laces, they have colorful lock laces and boring colored (white, black, tan) long shoe laces. They have the largest selection of running socks - Balega, DryMax, Features, Nike, SmartWool, and SwiftMax. My favorite running socks are Balega's Hidden Comfort and Blister Resist. For snacks, I bought a variety to try - Honey Stinger Pomegranate Passion and Cherry Cola Energy Chews, Honey Stinger honey and lemon waffles, and Jelly Belly's Fruit Punch Sport Beans. The Fleet Feet Sport Gaithersburg is my favorite one stop shop for my running needs with very supportive, friendly and knowledgeable staff! I was trained for my first Marine Corp full Marathon in 2013 with their training team. Although I have moved very far from them, I still train for my second marathon with their training team again. In addition, I found all my best super caring, intelligent, and athletic friends in their events and training programs. Warm and welcoming staff! Owners schedule multiple events free and some for a fee to keep the community involved. Store hosts weekly runs and offers a great meeting point with a changing room, bathroom, place to store your keys and rewards for participating. Small store with a great shoe collection.
