We just ate dinner at the Royal India restaurant in Kirkland and it was amazing. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. The staff was friendly and welcoming and took great care of us. I highly recommend that you visit here. More...

Consistently excellent food. Pleasant and pressure with attending service. Our go to place when going out to KPC.

Take out order today.  Food was ready and piping hot at promised time.Mulligatawny soup was good, although it takes similar to the tikka sauce rather than having that special Mulligatawny flavor and there were no little veggies in the soup. Eggplant Bharta was good with a nice smoky flavor. Chicken Tikka Masala was fine, but I ordered medium heat and there was almost no heat at all to it.  I prefer a good bit of heat, but often if you order the hottest level on the menu you get a dish that is overloaded with heat that masks the flavor. I think RI needs to turn the heat on their "medium" up a notch.Plenty of rice came with the dishes.I'm very glad to hear that they have brought back their buffet.  It is now on the weekends (Fri-Sun). We've always enjoyed the buffet and prefer it over ordering off the menu. More...

I thought this was good but not amazing. I ordered chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas, and garlic naan. I ordered the tikka masala the spiciest level but it had no spice at all. That was disappointing, but the flavor was good. The samosas were really good. I will say the best part was the garlic naan it is the best I've had in the area. I also enjoyed their rice. Just wasn't very impressed with the tikka masala and they should make sure they pay attention to the spice level chosen when people order online. More...

The menu is expansive with so many combinations of food. I've had several of the teas and have not found one I did not like. I'm only giving them 4 stars because so far every time I have been there, the staff has forgotten an item and charged me. More...

We have eaten here in the past and have been frequently satisfied. Last night's meal took things up a notch though and was quite delicious. They seem to have a new menu and perhaps a new chef. The Chicken Haryali Tikka was excellent and quite plentiful -- in fact there was enough to take home for another full meal. We will be back soon. More...

I have order from this restaurant a couple of times. Today was a disaster. There was a long hair in the food which caused my wife to vomit. An extremely disgusting experience for the whole family. Complained to Uber Eats who is the legal merchant. They claim that they need a picture on the hair that caused the vomiting to be able to do anything. Seriously? I do not recommend this restaurant and please be careful if you order with Uber Eats. They may want a picture from your WC. More...

Best restaurant in Kirkland--HANDS DOWN! The vibe is wonderful, just fancy enough while remaining chill. The service is always amazing. The food is 100/10. I always appreciate when a restaurant has a full menu, including a long list of non-alcoholic specialty drinks, many deserts and more. It's the one thing I'm going to miss about this city when I leave. I love you Royal India, thanks for the memories! More...

I came here once a couple years ago. The menu is good, and I recalled enjoying it.Decided to stop back in last night. The restaurant was about half full, but we were told that there was about a 10-minute wait. Understandable given the staffing shortage. We waited for about 10 minutes on the benches outside, and watched another party walk up and get seated. At this point, we moved to the lobby and waited another 10 minutes or so before getting a seat. The table next to us was a bit agitated about how long their food was taking, but again, staffing shortage, so understandable. After 15 ish minutes, the waiter came to take our order. We got a couple beers, and app, and some mains. Another 15 minutes later, the server came by, apologized, and said the beers would be out momentarily. About 20 minutes later, we hadn't gotten anything, at which point we gave up and left.By the time we left, there were only two other tables seated at the restaurant. Even so, the staff looked like they were in a hurry, and we saw multiple mobile orders filled. My best guess is that Royal India is prioritizing app orders over the customers in their restaurant.Giving a second star since the staff was polite and seemed to be working hard, but I left feeling like a lot of my time had been wasted. the samosa platter i recommend that was well done. stay away from the butter chicken, the sauce is good but the meat is old tandoori meat they cut up and mix in the curry, you could tell the meat wasn't fresh. the paneer tika was okay, kinda dry for me, but the worst part was it was served with pretty old veggies. the rice that the entrees were served with was good. the saag is what i enjoyed most definitely recommend the saag. I love this place! Tried it for the first time recently and everything was just phenomenal! Got to try so many different dishes that I've never had before. I'm not super adventurous when it comes to Indian food, so I'm glad I was with a large group and ordered family style. We got several different types of appetizers, including fried cauliflower, grilled shrimp with veggies, a puff pastry with chickpea, and samosas. All were 10/10. The curries and main dishes we got included butter chicken, mango chicken, a spicy lamb curry, lamb biryani, chicken biryani, garlic naan, a mixed grilled meat plate and malai chicken. Absolutely loved everything, but my favorites were the chicken biryani, spicy lamb curry, butter chicken and malai chicken. Of course we had to save room for dessert, so we got the traditional gulab jamun, ras malai, and kheer. Wow, everything was to die for. I definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion. I feel like takeout would be excellent too. Service was A+ as well. I'll be coming back soon to try all the other delicious foods Royal India has to offer!! More...

This place is excellent. As dude from the bay where we got Vic's in Berkeley, Shalimar, Dosa, amongst a plethora of other indian establishments, this place definitely hit the spot. My wife really enjoyed her saag. We left the restaurant talking about how good it was when we were in the car. With that said, take my review with a grain of salt since I only eat Chicken Tikka masala. More...

What a great find! We just moved to the area and have been trying all the places walking distance, and this place is great. We got the Tikki Masala, Garlic Naan, and Chicken Vindaloo, and it was all so good. They also have really fun drinks that they dressed up with flowers which was fun. We got the hibiscus and strawberry mint lemonades. Their patio space is also really nice! Would totally recommend. More...

Surprised by the old food served and the near zero cares given.   As we live just up the hill, we decided to stop in for dinner on our way home.  Ordered a salad, soup and and two appetizers which all came out at different times.   The salad was visibly old.  It was the cucumber salad with tomatoes and onions and herbs.  All of the vegetables were discolored, soggy, mushy and the salad looked like it was a few days past the sale by date.  I showed the waitress who looked embarrassed and apologized.   The Dahl soup was delivered without basmati rice, even though the menu mentions it comes with rice.  When asked the waitress, she said that the kitchen adds rice to the soup, which we showed her that wasn't the case either.   She apologized again and said she'd tell the kitchen.   Then when our chicken appetizer platter came out we were again disappointed to see old food served as fresh.  You could tell by looking at the meat it was days old.  Shriveled, dried out, like it was reheated from a bbq from the weekend - we were there on a Wednesday.   Even though it was supposed to be chicken there was a shriveled up lamb kabob that looked like a dried up piece of dog sh*t.   Seriously it looked like a turd and besides being days old didn't belong there as it was supposed to be a chicken platter.   We again got the poor waitresses attention and showed her.  She was mortified and removed the food.  She returned shortly, apologized profusely and offered to have the dish remade.  We declined and asked for the bill.   The Bill came and our cup of soup, 3 lentil dumplings and a small Perrier was $19.XX.  Again surprised that there was no offer to Comp or some other offering to make up for the piss poor experience we paid and left.   It is safe to say will never be back, especially when there are plenty of alternatives in the area.  If I were the owners I would be freaking out. We've been going here or doing take-out for a few years and it slowly gets worse and worse in food quality and order readiness. The last three phone-in take-out orders had pick up times of 20, 30 and 40 minutes successively. Each time I arrived at the restaurant, beyond the scheduled pick up time, I had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes.Besides that hassle, our meal last night was marginal, at best: rice was obviously scraped from the bottom of the cooler - all clumped together, and the Saag was burned (so we think it too was from the bottom of the pot). The butter chicken was okay, nothing special.Won't go here again- plenty of other Indian restaurants to go to. More...

Our favorites so far have been the Mulligatawny soup, Rogan Josh (savory), and Kashmiri Masala (sweet enough to satisfy a craving for mango curry).  We also enjoyed Koyla Karahi and Chana Saag. They have a fun array of drinks.  I enjoyed the Golden Pineapple-Ginger Cooler a bit more than the Golden Turmeric Milk, and my husband enjoyed the flavorful spiced lemonade, and of course lassi. The malabar-style paratha was disappointing, rather tough despite its flaky appearance.  The naan was nicely chewy but I couldn't taste the garlic we'd selected, and there were charred bits that crunched unpleasantly. While waiting for my take-out order to be bagged, I enjoyed looking around.  But I don't remember enough about the in-person dining experience here to comment on that. This place has decent food. Not the best. Ordered their Butter Chicken and their garlic naan.~The butter chicken was like room temperature, but not that warm, even though my to-go order took 25 mins. I only write reviews if something is AMAZING or AWFUL. Our meal tonight was AMAZING!  This was our second time getting food from here via Uber Eats. It was SO good that I even called to the restaurant to tell them to tell the cooks thank you. (They won't see this review most likely). My husband had WAY too much chicken in the Marines and if i eat meat it's poultry. If we have it at home I usually have to make it in a sauce of some kind. HE went ok and ok about how good the chicken was! And we eat Indian frequently. I like my food hot like molten lava. Our order arrived while I was on a zoom class so it sat here for a bit. I didn't warm my food because it smelled SO good I didn't want to nuke any good stuff out of it. The portions were generous. We were both pretty hungry and we ordered 2 dishes. We have enough leftovers for both of us to have lunch tomorrow. So we each had a dinner experience we had not seen in the other in 30 years. It was THAT good! More...
