The TV was an old box TV, and our DVD player didn't work. For the price we paid, you would think that these amenities would be modern and functioning. The other rooms looked a lot nicer, we wish we would have stayed in one of those; I'm not sure why this one was so lacking. This was our first time staying in a B&B, and the host didn't explain to us any of the policies and expectations, so we were a bit confused on what was expected of us. We struggled with the temperature of our room, as well -- Wisconsin winters are very cold, and this room got very hot at night, with our only option being to open the window a crack while sleeping, which then made the room absolutely freezing by the time we woke up. Breakfast was great every morning, and she was accommodating for my girlfriend's dietary restrictions -- although she neglected to tell us that on our last day we would be having breakfast in a different room until we had waited in the usual spot for 20 minutes. But there is a complimentary coffee maker, which was very nice for a quick cuppa any time of day.I'm not sure what the issue was. It seems like everyone else has had an amazing time here, but it seemed as though we were an afterthought during our stay here. DeAnn seems like a warm and friendly host, as evidenced by how she communicated with the other guests in the house, but we didn't have that experience. It was odd; I expect she was having an off day when we arrived. I will still recommend it, but stray away from the Meadow Suite. More...

We have stayed twice, in the same room, its quiet, private and so cozy with the real fireplace & oversized jetted tub. The food is amazing in the morning, there are basic amenties so we don't need to bring anything but ourselves and we'll definitely be back again!

One stays at a bed and breakfast to experience a sense of “hominess” and personal attention one does not usually find at a standard hotel chain. If that’s the case, then the Roost Bed & Breakfast does not disappoint. Set in a beautiful wooded residential community, the Roost Bed and Breakfast offers comfort and amenities that make you feel right at home. ||||From the spacious kitchen, to the dining room, to the living room, each room at the Roost has a different decorative feel. The bedrooms, with their own bathrooms, are very comfortable with just the right amount of space. TV with DVD and cable, whirlpool, and a gas fireplace was in the room in which we stayed. In the hallway, was an impressive collection of movies from which guests could choose to watch in their rooms. We also had variations on the lighting mood we wanted to have in the room. The room was extremely clean and has a very plush carpet. The same can be said of the bathroom with a mix of modern conveniences mixed with a bit of old world charm.||||The breakfast was delicious and prepared to order, with a variety of juices, coffees, and teas made available. The owner made and inquiries as to food allergies or food dislikes were proactively made in advance.||||Since we came in the fall, the wooded residential area surrounding the home gave us great views of fall colors out of each window and the owners did everything possible to make us feel at home.||||We look forward to a return visit to the Roost. Hands down the best Bed and Breakfast that we have ever stayed at! Due to multiple cancellations of our flight, we ended up arriving long past check-in hours after midnight, but De Ann graciously sent us complete information about how to check in after hours. It was a delight to wake up in the morning and see how beautiful her inn is in the daylight. De Ann is a phenomenal cook and her breakfasts are absolutely delicious. We had a beautiful room with its own garden access door. The beds are incredibly comfortable. This is absolutely a destination that we will visit again. I am glad that I did. ||DeAnn runs a very interesting house in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are well-appointed (mine had a 4-poster bed, 2 person spa bath and a working filreplace) and quite comfortable. There was also a decent size 'common area' downstairs in which folks could congregate/work/chat etc. ||DeAnn worked really hard to make my stay enjoyable/memorable, from the moment I checked in and was offered a glass wine through to the pretty decent omelette she whipped up for breakfast. ||I will certainly stay again when visiting this town. This was our first ever B&B experience and it set the bar high for any others! We wanted to get away and relax and The Roost offered the perfect get away for us. Everything about it from the decor, to the room, to our hostess De Ann was so warm and friendly. My husband was hesitant to book a B&B but after this experience he is all for it, he told me that he liked it so much better than a hotel because "they actually cared we were there", and that makes a huge difference! Absolutely loved the place! I had surprised my husband with a night here and it was our first time ever at a B&B and we will never look at overnights somewhere the same way again!
