I was very impressed with this hotel. We stayed on Columbus Day weekend & showed up without a reservation. Not only did they accommodate us, we got a major discount from a very friendly staff member and they checked us in instantly! We were on a long drive & we stayed in our room just to sleep and re-coop from a long weekend. It had everything you could ask for in a hotel. Here's my breakdown:Beautiful hotel room viewsGreat locationFree WifiSleep number adjustable bedsVery large bathroomFree continental breakfast.Spotless lobby/rooms $$: But you get quality.I would be happy to stay at Riverside again. They are a great example of what all hotels try to be. More...

Lovely hardwood floors & sleep number bed in my room; wide windows with an unobstructed view of the Connecticut river.  Sweeping patio / porch around the back of the property & Joe's dock down at the river provides close and ready access. Simply a beautiful property: would love to experience the view through all seasons.  I imagine snowfall would be breathtaking!! More...

I am a consultant and a hilton diamond members. I chose this hotel after being at the hampton inn on Putney and hearing my neighbors TV every night for a week. This hotel is amazing. I am not sure if everyone knows about this hotel because it is very quite and I didn't see that many cars in the parking lot. The rooms are spacious, they have hardwood floors (great for people with allergies or germ-a-phones), sleep number beds. They use bath and body works for the hotel amenities. The only draw back is breakfast, it is really nothing to write home about, same muffins, yogurt, fruit, tea, coffee, but the view is beautiful. Needless to say I will be staying here for the duration of my contract. More...

We were passing through the area, late at night, while on a five-day roadtrip through Vermont and the Catskills and were recommended the Riverside by the desk clerk at the nearby Hampton Inn (which was booked for the night). Although we were slightly put off by the Riverside Hotel's sign, which was missing a few light bulbs and gave the initial impression of neglect and slight seediness, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the actual hotel was  welcoming and brightly lit. Our king bed room was attractive, immaculately clean, spacious, and seemed to have brand new furnishings. The bed itself had a Sleep Number mattress and was extremely comfortable. We awoke in the morning light to find a large balcony off of our room with a lovely view of the Connecticut River, where we enjoyed a good continental breakfast. What a great find! Way better than the Hampton Inn and at a comparable price. More...

I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend to get a quick break from City life. Overall it was a pleasant experience. The hotel was beautiful. Gorgeous rooms with perfect views of the river. Breakfast was good. It was housed in a beautiful room downstairs.  Walk me down to the river was nice and had two benches where you could sit and look out.Service was the only thing that kept it from being five stars. There was inconsistency with the level of service depending on who was at the front desk... If there was anyone at the front desk. The two ladies were lovely and helpful.  The redhead and curly haired ladies at front desk were very pleasant. At checkout time there was no one there and we were forced to wait until staff returned (tall bald male). He  was very nonchalant and unapologetic. This is our second interaction with him when we were less than impressed with his aloof attitude. More...

I wish I could give 4.75 stars, but I can't. And since I have a few qualms about an otherwise excellent place, I can't really give a five either, can I? First World Problems...The exterior of the hotel is pretty nondescript--like any Hampton Inn or larger chain hotel (of which this is one). But the rooms themselves--the thing that matters the most--are truly terrific. The beds are huge and excellent; you can splay across them with a loved one and imagine being fed grapes and fanned by big palm fronds... They are also "sleep number" beds, so you can control through air inflation how firm or soft your side of the bed is. Excellent.Very clean and well kept, and the hotel is clearly new. The front desk is a little bit of a mixed bag, but again, this is a chain with four star rooms in a three star hotel in a two star area. Speaking of two stars, the breakfast is my main gripe. It's downstairs in a finished area of the basement--also very clean and sterile, really. You may be the only person down there, too... Meanwhile you have a selection of mini-Yoplait© yogurts, pre-made Sara Lee© muffins whose outsides stick to your fingers after you unwrap them, and some Poland Spring© water from the cooler. I understand that putting on a real breakfast is a production, but even the Holiday Inn has more. Maybe they figure, heck we're next to Brattleboro, and they have a ton of great places to go--which they do. Sometimes you don't even want to drive to Dunkin Donuts, though. The rooms have nice big sofas and desks, and the bathrooms are great. All, it seems, have back views of the little river that runs behind the hotel, and many have balconies. This place really sets the bar for the area. The aforementioned Hampton Inn is the clear second choice, followed by a slightly droopy Holiday Inn Express. There's a Super 8 that's as you'd expect--not so nice, but cheap. The Latchis is a bit of a dump and I'm not sure you can even check in after 11PM. Considering what the top 3 charge, the Riverside is the clear choice if you're staying in the Brattleboro area. Spent a weekend "away" with my long distance fiancé here and simply adored the whole experience. Staff was friendly and accommodating. While it's definitely not cheap it's a rarity to find this kind of quality of hotel in this area, making it completely worth it. We stayed in a suite which the staff upgraded us to upon arrival free of charge and we even extended our stay for an additional day which was as easy as a call to the front desk. As a girl with a whole lotta wanderlust in my system I've stayed in A LOT of hotels and hence developed a bit of an addiction to 4 star accommodations and while it's not a Kimpton its perhaps the closest one will get in this area. This hotel is built on some seriously scenic grounds. The rooms are beautifully decorated and we just happened to get one facing the river and I'm so happy we did -- what a sight to wake up to! My little sister had fun "fishing" while I clicked away with my camera, even testing out my new telescopic lens to spy on appeared to be a rudimentary encampment tucked away under the terrifying suspension bridge. No, I'm not a creeper, I was just following some ducks with their mama.Anyway! The customer service was impecable, the hotel was spotless, and they even serve a continental breakfast in the downstairs dining room. The gym is bit tiny but if you walk up and down the hall 1,240 times and throw in some lunges its not a bad workout. I would encourage staying at this hotel if you like excellent customer service, have an eye for interior design, or just need a safe, comfortable, luxurious place to lay your head. Also, the toilet paper hangy-roll thing is really a work of art for what it is. Great place to stay! We found this place when we decided to stay overnight at the last minute. So pleased that we stayed here. The hotel is directly off the Connecticut River. You have access to a nice little dock with benches. People were fishing off the dock when we arrived. The rooms have a sliding glass door that opens to a deck facing the river. If you stay on the first floor, there is one long patio that everyone shares. On floors 2 and 3, you will have your own deck. The rooms have Sleep Number beds. The bathrooms are large, and have jacuzzi jets. The jets in our room (104) did not work, and the bathtub did not hold water very well. The issues with the tub are the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.Customer service of a very high quality. Very impressed. There is no restaurant or bar, but there is a continental breakfast (didn't make it). There is also a gym (didn't make it there either). There is a package store right next door (made it there, it closes at 9).Fun and unique place for a reasonable price. I hope we get a chance to stay there again. Next time I will make a reservation in advance and make sure to get a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor. More...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Riverside Hotel during our weekend getaway to Brattleboro.  The room was stunning-- a king size sleep number and hardwood floors.  The outdoor patio overlooking the water was so pretty, and I wish we could have stayed more than one night!  The employees were friendly and made our check-in/check-out stress-free.  I would love to return to this hotel if we are in the area again (especially during the summer months). The room was amazing! We had a king size bed and it was a sleep number. However our sleep number bed didn't work but that's okay because the bed was comfy anyways. The bathroom was big too and I loved having a big window looking over the river. Although the room was very nice some of the outlets didn't work for the lights so we put them on the upper outlet. We would turn the sink on for cold water and would get warm water. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment because it was just bagels and muffins. The man at the front desk was very nice but I didn't want to complain about the room because the room was very nice. So if you're in the area stop by and stay the night! More...

Outstanding quality and customer service. We had a king suite with jetted tub. The Pub was deep and had many jets and both my partner and I were able to bathe and relax at same time. The balcony was a major perk, as it overlooked the Connecticut River. The view from room 308 is beautiful day and night. When we woke up in the morning and went out on the balcony there were two geese, enjoying a spring breakfast. will definitely be returning and found a wonderful local establishment. Don't waste your money elsewhere, make relaxation and cleanliness a part of your future. Our sleep number bed was non-functional, but everything else made up for that. Extremely happy. More...

This place is very nice. Stayed for one night. Very clean. High speed Internet WIFI. Tested speed on an iPhone app and it registered 16bps down and about 6 Mbps up.
