Richie's Jerk & BBQ

Was looking for something different on a Friday night after a long work week! Hadn’t tried Richie’s yet and have been wanting to. The Jamaican spin on the chicken quesadilla is amazing—like, melt-in-your-mouth-great—and the salsa was spicy and sweet! It was a generous portion too, and came with fries (also crisp and delicious). I also ordered a side of rice and beans and it was so good and a perfect complement. I have enough food for another meal tomorrow! Great staff—maybe one or both were the owners (I will introduce myself on my second visit—they were very friendly and welcoming!). Great prices too...I’ll be back! More...

I was looking for a BBQ joint in Maine and I stumbled upon this amazing Jerk Gem! There is a difference between Jamaican BBQ and American BBQ but there aint NOTHING bad about either of them and they are The BEST of Buddies! Being a traditional BBQ reviewer (although technically I think Jamaica has the oldest roots in what "barabicu" actually is but that's history for later) I had to try the Ribs. Not exactly the most sought after item on a menu with Jerk Chicken Stir Fry and Rice and Beans and all that other goodness, but just had to taste it. I asked if there was any way to get just a side of their traditional jerk chicken because I NEEDED to have that too. He Gave Me 3 Big Jerk Chicken Drumsticks! It was Awesome! Onto the reviewChicken made me stop and go "Wow!". I could almost breath in the spice of the jerk from like 3 feet away. The look of this chicken was like something you would want to stare at for awhile like a painting before touching it. Super tender and juicy too. It was definitely spicy but had that nice sweet zing to it too. Kind of reminds me of an Asian style sauce on some spicy spare ribs. My only regret is not knowing what exactly the Jamaican Jerk spice is really supposed to be, it seems like every time I try it at a different place it's very different. The only consistent thing about the jerk seasoning is that it goes in sweetish and then its a delightful spicy accompanied by the sweetness. But what is used all the time? no idea.I couldn't believe how much food I got in this rib meal! Coleslaw was some of the best I've ever had. It was nice too because it helped sooth some of the hot spiciness from the jerk seasoning. Had that nice sweet citrusy type of mayo based sauce, almost like an ambrosia. Cabbage and carrots were chopped into perfect slices, the vegetables were still crunchy and fresh (not soggy), it was still cool even though it was sitting in a takeout container full of hot stuff! Amazing!Pretty sure I could eat their rice and beans everyday for the rest of my life. Now I understand why they eat this stuff everyday. It had almost like a mild brown sugar spice to it. Its super hard to explain. It gave hints of like an apple pie filling, the taste not the gooey pie stuff. Just a mostly sweet, little savory spice, brown, yummy rice and beans. Some caramelized onion was in it too. Also the traditional bean gravy sauce that rocked my world.Everything was getting amazing scores so far so the Ribs had a high bar. Ribs were Not disappointing at all but depending on what you look for in a good rib I can't really say whether or not it was good. Meat wasn't very tender but juicy, skin was mostly chard all over the place, the BBQ sauce even had that little jerky sweet zing to it. After going to so many places with Amazing dry rubbed ribs I've learned to really like that sauseless style so long as it's done right. The ribs here are like what you would expect at a awesome back yard bbq party. But I could tell they were still smoked. Very flat rib too, the Bone was almost the entire width of the rib, all the meat was on top but not much of it. The spare rib had the short rib meat so at least I got some of that meat. Got bored with the usual choices so on a web search i found Richies. Glad i did. I ordered the wings and the cobb salad. Both were excellent, the salad had jerk chicken in it and the dressing was great . The wings were smoky and well seasoned. The sauces were homemade and delicious. Cant wait to go back More...

I had the jerk chicken stir fry and my fiance had the pulled pork sandwich. Everything had so much flavor and was absolutely delicious! I can't wait to try more!

Omg, LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Richies and Stephanie's food. It is so delicious. They are very kind, friendly and amazing people. Highly recommend as you don't get great cooking like this everywhere.
