The Japanese translation is, “Universal [Rei] life force energy [ki]”. Reiki is a specific type of energy therapy, based off of energy healing principles originating in Tibet and India, and dating back to the teachings of Usui Mikao in Japan, as early as the 1920’s. Reiki energy is channeled through an attuned practitioner, typically delivered through the “laying on of hands”, in which he/she intends the energy to flow through them and to the intended recipient. It is a holistic technique in which the energy can be utilized for (and not limited to) stress reduction, relaxation, pain relief, and promoting healing, through the clearing & balancing of your body’s energy.

It has been proven that the body has electrical and magnetic energies in and around the body, collectively creating a biomagnetic field. Since the emergence of quantum physics, energy-based technology has been utilized in Western-medicine to diagnosis and treat patients. Therefore, treating the biomagnetic field for therapeutic reasons has been around for at least a century. Further studies have shown that pulsing magnetic fields of a certain frequency, stimulates healing. How does this tie in with Reiki?
