Concussion care management is all about having a well balanced team of health care professionals. Effective evaluation and management require a multidisciplinary team that can include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physicians, neuropsychologist, neuro-ophthalmologist, athletic trainers, teachers, and nurses. As our knowledge of what a concussion truly is advances, so does our care for concussions.

Dry needling is a technique trained physical therapists use for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. The technique uses a “dry” needle, one without medication or injection, inserted through the skin into specific areas of the muscle. Other terms commonly used to describe dry needling include trigger point dry needling, and intramuscular manual therapy.

Dry needling involves a thin filiform needle that penetrates the skin and stimulates underlying myofascial trigger points and muscular and connective tissues. The needles are typically smaller than hypodermic needles and are solid rather than hollow with a more rounded tip. The needle allows a physical therapist to target tissues that are not manually palpable.

Power Plate is a piece of exercise equipment that applies whole body vibration that is appropriate for all ages and abilities. The technology is engineered to apply the science behind the body’s natural response to destabilization and provides a full-body workout in as little as 30 minutes. The Power Plate platform uses a consistent, safe and controlled level of vibration that moves in three directions (up and down, front and back, and side to side). It can be used as a great workout and addition to regular physical therapy services.

We provide a one-on-one hands-on approach to treatment and integrates education along with an individualized exercise prescription. A wide range of therapeutic practices can be utilized based on a patients needs. Patients are encouraged to be active participants in care to enhance the healing process and achieve long term results.
