It took me almost 4 years to find a "go-to" salon in NYC and Red Market has definitely become my staple. First, they are hair magicians. I have dark brown hair and wanted to experiment with color but had so many concerns about it being brassy. Reynald took such good care of my hair and highlighted it in increments to that I had time to adjust. It's so beautiful that everybody is telling me I should go even lighter. He also gives a killer cut and it's definitely worth the $$. Salon atmosphere is also amazing. They bring you wine and it feels more like a TriBeca loft than a hair salon. They are open late which is amazing for accommodating work schedules. Couldn't recommend them more highly. More...

She did a great job cutting & styling my hair, and was very well educated; she's wonderful at explaining the whole process. Overall, the whole staff is very sweet, the service is amazing, and I definitely recommend going to this salon for any of your needs. More...

I’ve been going to Patricia for almost 10 years and now have friends who go to her too. I highly recommend her to everyone, she is the absolute best! She understands color and how it works with your complexion. She always gives me the best advice on how to keep my hair healthy and beautiful (for reference - the photo is my current length, when I started going to her 10 years ago my hair wouldn’t grow past my shoulder area, now I have to cut it to keep it from going past my waist line!). I’ve never had such natural looking blonde in my life. I moved to Florida 2 years ago and make trips to NYC just to get my hair done by her. No one else compares! The Red Market Salon is a very stylish place and I feel comfortable throughout the whole process. It’s also a very upbeat environment and everyone is so nice and helpful! More...

I came to New York for medical treatment for a very rare cancer and decided to get my hair done in NYC. Being from Kansas City I was beyond excited to get the latest color and cut. However I went to a salon that ended up butchering my hair with a terrible haircut and giving me an orange and brass balayage makeover! This salon shad the audacity to offer to correct the color for an additional fifty dollars. I google searched salons near me that were open late as it was 930pm and I was leaving town in the morning. Red Market popped up I called and explained what happened and was told to come in. As soon as I stepped foot in Red Market I was treated with respect and pampered. Offered green tea or wine, my coat hung up, the simple gestures that depict class and professionalism. As I met my colorist Teela Janet and Simone my stylist I had no idea that these two women would impact my life and forever remain in my heart. I’m a mother or two toddlers who works full time as a registered nurse and am only 33 years old. Red Market and Simone and Teela Janet not only did an outstanding job with my color and cut but they stayed late to finish and even gave me a discount. If you are lucky enough to have Teela Janet and Simone work on your hair then you are in kind and extremely specialized hands! Worth every penny and I will always go back to NYC Red Market to see my fairy godmothers Simone and Teela Janet whenever I’m in town for treatment or surgery. New York you are lucky to have Red Market Salon but Red Market Salon you are blessed to have Simone and Teela!! More...

So I recently decided to try out Red Market Salon due to their convenience of being open till 11 PM. First i must say the inside is super cut. .its very chic with all red & white with an industrial flair.I was going in just for a cut but after learning about Balayage highlights, I decided to give it a try. TRUST ME after this you will never want to get foil done AGAIN!! I have really dark hair and everytime I've gone for some highlights in the past it always comes out brassy, this time my hair came out as though it was au natural. My colorist Anastasia knew exactly what color would go with my highlights that would accentuate my skintone.
I also received a haircut with Rachel, i was looking to go short due to I've always had long hair and was thinking of a bob. She ended up giving me the most edgiest bob that even Rihanna would be jealous. The plus side was she understood my face shape and which haircuts would go with it. I will deff. be coming back to this super cute chic salon for a touch up on my hair & color, plus the free glasses of wine don't hurt. ;)

I have never been happier with a cut and a color before. I went the other night for partial highlights, deep conditioning, cut and blowout. I had a groupon and it said it would be ""senior- level"", so I made sure to let them know this when I booked the appointment. The groupon cost $119, but when I researched the reviews it seemed like it would be worth it. It was my birthday so I told myself to splurge. I made the appointment for Thursday, but called on Tuesday to see if they could accommodate me on Wednesday evening, and they could. Yay! Didn't want to spend my whole actual birthday in the chair at the salon. I had to work so they had an appointment for 715 which was perfect. It's hard to find salons that are open so late. Anastasia did my highlights after talking with me about it for a little while. I have red hair and have had a very hard time getting highlights that look natural. Most places do not understand that highlights do not always need to be blonde. I made very clear that I wanted a sun-kissed look with a lighter red, a little coppery strawberry color. I had done a single process myself with a box a few weeks earlier, and I told her so she knew what she was dealing with. She was very nice and although the salon itself has an upscale air about it, everyone was very nice and non- judgmental. I came from work and was wearing scrub pants, sneakers and a t- shirt, but it didn't seem as though anyone even noticed. She told me she wasn't sure how my hair was going to take the color because I had colored my hair, but she said she knew what she wanted to do and she mixed up the color. She used the balayage technique of painting the highlights on and covering them with plastic wrap going through each layer of my hair. I had them done this way once before and this is definitely the way to go. If you have only used foil highlights before then you are really missing out. I got a little nervous because she seemed to cover most of my hair with the color. I was cooking under the heat lamp for about 15 minutes and she came back to look at my hair and told me I needed 15 more minutes. Of course I was worried that my hair was going to be bleach blonde, but her reassurance comforted me. After she rinsed the color, she said that she was going to apply some toner to the ends, because the ends turned out a little bit lighter than she wanted. I stayed at the sink for about 10 minutes and then she rinsed the toner. She applied a gloss and I waited a few more minutes and then rinsed. I'm sure that this probably should have cost extra, because toner and gloss were not part of the groupon, but she did not say a word about that. I sat back in the chair with a wet head and could see that my hair was definitely not blonde, and I could already see the dimension even though it was wet. Awesome! David came to cut my hair. He had already introduced himself to me earlier before my color. I found out later that he was the owner, and he could not have been nicer. I have long hair that is wavey and layered. I told him that I wanted to keep the length and soften the layers. He started cutting, which usually makes me nervous, but I felt like I could trust him. He cut all of the choppiness out of my layers and now I have the most beautiful long layers that all flow together. I could not be happier. And after it was blown out and the layers all have a gorgeous subtle glow of highlights I was overjoyed. My hair has never looked better and I just turned 36. This was the look that I always wanted but was never able to achieve. I will definitely go back and pay the fancy prices because feeling this good is priceless! More...

Reynald is am amazing colorist. He knows what hes doing. He doesn't say much , but he works efficiently and the color always comes out beautiful. The receptionist is very friendly and even the assistants are super nice, especially a plus considering this is a New York salon in one of the city's hottest areas. I think the prices are reasonable too. I only paid 150 for single process, plus a couple of highlights and that included blowdry. I think this is a fabulous price considering that Reynald used to work at Frederic Fekkai.I would highly recommend this place to anybody who wants to have beautiful hair in a relaxing setting and not pay an arm and a leg.
