I had never had personal training, but I needed to do something different after a couple years behind a desk. Hitting the gym in isolation was sounding tedious, and was too easy to put off. Even after 15 sessions, I am noticing a huge different in my body, flexibility, and energy levels. Aside from being a great guy, Max has a vast portfolio of exercises, stretches, rolls, and cardio to pull from. He tailors every session and constantly introduces me to movements I have never done before. The result is a super engaging workout, with a ton of compound movements mixed with new variations on conventional exercises, and a very holistic approach to balance, stability, and health. I plan to continue working with Max, but a lot of what he is teaching me will stick with me for the rest of my life. Very highly recommended. More...

I want to give a shoutout to my trainer Max because he's been awesome. He's really understanding during workouts, which makes them feel less like a chore. What's cool is that he gets the desk job struggle, so he adds in stretches and exercises that help with that. He's been flexible with timing and what I need each session, which is great. Plus, he actually knows his stuff about fitness and tries to incorporate different exercises across the sessions. He's super supportive and makes the whole fitness thing way less intimidating. Max is one of the top trainers I have worked with. When I started, I was post cancer treatments and was nervous to start training. Max helped me through with his trained observations. I am gaining the strength, flexibility and mobility that had been disappearing as well as the confidence to WANT to continue my training. I began my search for a personal trainer a couple of months ago. Max of Reboot Health immediately responded and I made an appointment for a consultation. Best decision I've made. I am a woman in her sixties who had not done any weight training in years. My doctor encouraged me to start resistance training to keep my bones and muscles strong. I bought some weights and tried to create my own workout routine but found that my workouts were interrupted by life's demands. The solution was to purchase a 10-pack series of personal training sessions with Max, which I just completed. Max mixed up our sessions, creating excitement in trying something new and a sense of accomplishment after completing each task. We focused on balance, strength, and flexibility, and by the end of the ten sessions, I noticed a considerable improvement in all three. A wonderful feeling for a woman my age! I have been working with Max for the past 6 months. I have always been somewhat fit but Max is helping to me get to a new level. I am so impressed by his knowledge around fitness and health. He uses this knowledge and his experience to tailor the workouts to achieve your goals. He will also adapt in the moment to give you the best workout and stretching that your body needs. Max is a phenomenal trainer! I came to him with a very difficult physical goal and so far we have hit almost every milestone needed. He sat down with me, created a comprehensive plan complete with workouts, meal plan, gear needed, and life style changes I could make to help support reaching my goal. He not only leads me through awesome workouts weekly, but he has taken time out of his schedule to run with me outside of the gym to help me get started with building my cardio stamina. TL:DR; I have been training with Max since the Summer of 2019. From my experience with different gyms and trainers, I can highly recommend Max. Approach to clients: I started training with Max after an exceedingly long period where I really deprioritized my health and fitness because of work.  I really appreciated that Max really did not care what shape I was in but was simply happy that I wanted to do something about it. The other thing that has worked well for me is that Max is always encouraging but never overbearing or pushy. Both in terms of workouts, as well as to readjust my mental model that put work ahead of health. He listens, is attentive and engaging in sessions. He also has a good sense of humor. Fitness and Training: One thing that I really like is that Max trains with a comprehensive approach to fitness including not just strength, but flexibility, balance, and functional movement. He is knowledgeable about everything you would want a trainer to know; what exercises does what, human anatomy, nutrition, exercise equipment, the complete package here. Scheduling: Max is super flexible when it comes to scheduling. He does his best to try to make things work. I have had to reschedule things (sometimes on short notice) and he is always understanding and done his best to make things work out. During the worst periods of Covid, we were able to continue training through video sessions.Summary: Max is a great trainer, not just because of what he knows, but because of his interest in having his clients improve their lives through fitness to do the things that they want to do. I have been training with Max for a little over 4 months now. It has been so much fun and he has helped me lose weight and feel better about myself. I definitely notice the changes when I am playing softball and how much more power and stamina I have. The workouts are fun because Max always has a variety of exercises to do and you will never repeat the same workout every session. Max makes working out fun because he is always there to talk to and make you laugh when you are training. A very big thing for me was nutrition and Max has been very helpful on educating me on the things I should be eating. I have worked with several different trainers over the years, and I have to say Max is hands down the best!!!! I appreciate his emphasis on all-around fitness and health, including flexibility and functional movement. He does a great job of helping me feel motivated and he helps me avoid the pitfalls of all-or-nothing thinking which have sabotaged a lot of my previous weight loss efforts. Since working with him I have lost about 15 pounds, have fewer aches and pains, and feel more energized in my daily life. I highly recommend Max no matter where you are in your fitness journey. Max is fantastic! With this whole pandemic I have found it really difficult to hold myself accountable to goals I set for myself. Since I discovered Max 2 months ago, I have already seen drastic changes in my strength and body. He has helped me start a fitness journey and stay committed to it. I love training with Max! During covid it had been really hard to find the motivation to workout. Max has always been super organized anf professional compared to past trainers. I am always looking toward to come to the gym for an uplifting and motivational experience. As someone who just started lifting, Max has been very good at pushing me, but at the same time paced me so I don't burn out. After 6 weeks I can already see a big difference in my form and physical appearance, and it's all thanks to Max! More...

Been training with Max since June 2020. He's great. Highly recommend him. I'll break it down: Pandemic Mitigation: If you go to the gym they're pretty rigid about social distancing protocols. I feel like there's been a solid effort at ensuring everyone stays safe. Location: You can do virtual gym from home or go to the actual gym in Redwood City. The gym is great -- it's a full gym dedicated to personal training so there's not really many people around. There's even showers.Pros: Knows his stuff. Very knowledgeable about the human body and what muscle is which and how to stretch. The foundation of my training with him is balance and frankly, no other trainer bothered to address this very obvious issue before him.He's very flexible and can work around your unique issues. I have a few of health issues and physical limitations so Max has been great at working around them. He also keeps things constantly changing so I'm never bored. He's good at motivating you when you want the motivation, but also good at backing off and letting you do your thing if you don't want that extra push. It's really rare to see that in a trainer. Usually they're one way or the other. Lastly, he doesn't just stand there and look at his phone. It's so frustrating to me when I see trainers looking down at their phones while their client is working out. I feel like if you're going to dedicate an hour to someone, dedicate that hour. Cons: If you go to the gym the parking lot is small and can sometimes fill up. It's only happened once in my 3-4x/week visit since June so take that as you will. More...

Personal Trainers

I have been thinking to start working out to shape up my body but could not have chance especially due to covid. I thought It may be good idea to start with someone who can guide me for work out because it is sometimes hard to do it by your own without deep knowledge and motivation. So, I started searching trainers close to my address and I was able to find Max with really good reviews. I contacted and he replied quickly. We set up some time to discuss how he plans workout for his clients. He initially did couple sessions to understand where I am and then provided me a lot of information if I want to do work out sessions with him.


What I liked most was he knows what is doing not only for weight lifting but also nutrition and other required movements for the body. I signed up and have been enjoying my progress so far. He designed the sessions for my goal and he guides me setting up new goals once I reach them. It is only 6-7 weeks and I go to 3 times a week, but I already started feeling the change. He is challenging me every time and also motivating to keep up the hard work. He also closely watch how I perform and when he feels that I have problem with a training, he quickly finds a solution for me to fix the problem such as stretching special parts of the body and so on. He also keeps good conversation during the training and you would not feel bored at all.

We not only work for muscle weight also work for balance, strength, movement, endurance and so on.

When searching for a personal trainer, my SO and I decided to try Max since he was one of the few to offer small group training. Three months in and I am still surprised he is able to come up with new exercises to incorporate into our weekly workouts to keep them lively. He designs the workouts based on our personal goals but also uses the fact that there are two of us to create engaging partner exercises.Max has shown that he has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to personal health and training that is only amassed from a passion for his work and several years of experience. Max has changed my life! Prior to meeting Max I had been wanting to get in shape and become healthier, but lacked the knowledge and consistency to truly effect a change. Max has been doing this for years and his deep expertise in fitness and overall health is apparent as soon as you meet him. Max worked with me to explain that seeing results requires lifestyle changes that go beyond training sessions with him, and provided the necessary education, guidance, and information (exercise materials, meal plans, etc.) for me to approach my health in a more holistic way that extends beyond Reboot Health and into other parts of my life such as healthier diet, consistent cardio, better sleep habits, etc.Having now spent ~1 year training with Max, I have lost a significant amount of weight and am faster, stronger, and with better stamina, but most importantly have more confidence knowing I am actively addressing one of the most important things in life--overall health and fitness. I have also suffered from severe and chronic back pain for most of my life, and this has led to difficulty working out, along with a number of other injuries. Max specializes in clients with similar issues, and has helped me to not only work around these injuries, but also directly address these issues through strength and flexibility training with proper form and steady improvements. My wife and I decided we needed to get fit and lose some weight.  She found Max Rocans through YELP reviews and friends.  Max is outstanding.  He will make an assessment and design a plan to meet your needs and goals.  Not being one that has ever "worked out" in the traditional sense, he is very good and demonstrating the exercise and ensuring we have the correct form.  He pushes us and yes we are sore at times but we both feel much better about our overall conditioning and health.  If you are interested in working out, I would highly recommend talking to Max. Alright, so check it out, I'm pretty much the worst work out guy. I hate it. I'm lazy, I'm unmotivated, I'm old and fat and everything hurts. When I started training with Max, and he was talking to me about what I need to do to stop hurting, and feel better, I was thinking "yeah, sure, stretching, core muscles, whatever ..." Well, it's all come to fruition. The more I go, the stronger I get, the more flexible I get. Things don't hurt as much. It's easier to move around. I've known Max on a personal and professional level for 7 years and feel extremely comfortable speaking to his quality as a consummate fitness professional.  Like any good trainer Max methodically designs his programs and pedagogy around you; delivering fun, challenging training sessions oriented around your goals.   But to me what defines Max's style, if you will, is his calm gentle soul, motivating through example and encouragement, not screaming out for more reps.  Max will not make you want to work harder for him but for you and his client roster of success speaks to his capabilities.  So when you are shopping for a coach to guide you on your journey Max should be at the top of your list. Max truly is an amazing trainer. I'll echo the other reviews here by saying he genuinely cares about your goals and being your partner/friend in this. The reality is that exercise is 20 and nutrition is 80. When it comes to the exercise aspect he'll get you 110% of the way there. The nutrition comes down to you ultimately, but Max keeps you accountable by checking in with you on nutrition too. Personal training sessions aren't cheap, but if you are willing to commit then these services pay you back tenfold in the results you'll see. I never had muscle definition before but saw noticeable results within the first 2 months and 4 months in was even better. Max is awesome! I really enjoy the fact that he's so well rounded and knows so much about all aspects of health and exercise. I am not one of those people who enjoys working out, but Max makes it fun, and interesting, and pushes you to the limit of you capabilities. Now, a couple of months into it, I'm doing stuff that I never thought I'd be able to, which encourages me to come back, so I can see what else I can do. I also like that Max takes the time to explain the exercise, and answer all questions. I've been working out with Max for a while, and I would recommend him unreservedly. Before him, I hadn't been paying attention to my physical condition. Thanks to Max, I lost over 20 pounds, and am in the best shape of my life. I no longer had to wear baggy clothes; I realize that sounds dumb, but it's profoundly affecting. Max is awesome! I really enjoy the fact that he's so well rounded and knows so much about all aspects of health and exercise. I am not one of those people who enjoys working out, but Max makes it fun, and interesting, and pushes you to the limit of you capabilities. Now, a couple of months into it, I'm doing stuff that I never thought I'd be able to, which encourages me to come back, so I can see what else I can do. I also like that Max takes the time to explain the exercise, and answer all questions. Max is awesome!  He knows A LOT about all thing health and exercise.  I am not someone who enjoys working out necessarily, but Max has made the experience enjoyable to a point where I look forward to it.  He's also very patient and will take the time to explain each exercise, and how they relate to the other exercises you're doing.  Also, I'm already seeing great results.  I thought I had chronic back problems ... nope ... apparently, my back is just weak and needs to be stretched.  It's pretty cool to see yourself doing stuff you would've NEVER thought you'd be able to do just a few months before.  I highly recommend Max for anyone from a total out-of-shape noob, to an experienced body builder. Max Rocans is the epitome of a Fitness Coach. Unlike other gym "trainers", Max creates a custom fitness plan which includes a wide variety of contributing factors like meal plans, strength training, cardiovascular training and even suggestions for your workplace office set up. When I first met Max I could tell that he is truly passionate about his work. Plus, he is so professional and very organized. <br>I cannot believe results I have achieved with Max's help. He taught me proper stretching techniques, amazing (and fun) circuit training exercises and he got me on a custom diet plan. All these things I would have never known or done if I was flying solo. His passion and his drive motivated me so much that I've decided to enter a fitness competition. Max, of course, is there to make sure I am competition ready by my target date. <br>Overall, Max is just a good person and a pleasure to work with. Plan and be a cheerleader for that plan. I think most people have issues with accountability. I try to help by making small goals to achieve large ones.

The secret is consistency. As long as you have a plan and you’re consistent you can achieve most things.
