Radon Mitigation and Testing

Absolute Radon Safety is an excellent company to work with.  The folks that work there really do try to do everything to make the experience go well.  Kyle installed the radon mitigation system in our home and takes real pride in his work.  It was a pleasure having him out and he made the process seem so simple.  He reviewed all his work with me when completed to make sure I understood how the system operated and said to call them if anything seemed to be an issue.  Moving to a new home can be really stressful but Absolute Radon Safety made this the least stressful part of our move.  Really appreciate them! I am very pleased with the services of Absolute Radon Safety.  They installed a radon reduction system in our home in 2016 and it has worked well ever since. The install was a little complicated but the tech was great in getting the system to meet our specs. This winter the fan noise increased to an annoying level so I emailed to have a tech look at it. Absolute Radon offers a 10 year warranty, as apposed to the usual 5 yr on the fan, so they were happy to honor the warranty and sent a tech out within a few days and at a time of my convenience.  The tech was able to quickly diagnose and solve the issue by installing a new fan.  The fan noise is hardly noticeable now, and we are so grateful for the quality, speed, and professionalism of Absolute Radon.  They provided the best contractor service I've ever experienced. Mike came out and did a great job.  I got a radon mitagation system installed about 3 years ago.  The fan malfunctioned and started making a lot of noise.  I called them and they said I had a 10 year warranty.  They came to my house within 3 days and installed a new fan for free, with another 10 year warranty.  Great service and the radon mitagation system is very quiet.  The price for original installation was a great price also. Immediately after Absolute Radon Safety installed our radon fan, the radon levels in our house fell to safe levels, below 3 pc/l, as measured by my Radon Eye RD200 detector. But several weeks later, they went back up above 6 pc/l, which is unsafe. The radon fan was still working fine, so my assumption is that, as the fan dried out the soil below our slab, more soil surface area was exposed, producing more radon gas. I called ARS and let them know what had happened. ARS requires results from an independent lab in order to honor their 4 pcl max warranty. So I conducted a standard charcoal radon test (ARS provided a test kit with our installation). I ran the test - twice - but the radon testing lab claims that they did not receive either test sample I mailed to them. So I took matters into my own hands, spending an additional $200 and a day and a half of my time to seal the expansion joints in our basement slab. Even after sealing just 70% of the expansion joints, our radon levels were cut in half, and are now back at safe levels. I blame myself for not insisting that ARS include expansion joint sealing as part of the original radon abatement job, something I did bring up when I called to schedule the job. But the owner of ARS told me that sealing joints in the slab was unnecessary. I still believe ARS is a quality vendor, but from a time and cost perspective, I wish I had chosen the slightly higher bid from another vendor who included expansion joint sealing in their bid. We had a great experience with Absolute Radon Safety. We received a fast and complete response to our online information request with pricing and warranty information. We were able to schedule an installation within 2 weeks and Ryan (our installer) was able to walk us through our options with confidence. Installation took less than 3 hours including painting the exterior portion to match our home (we supplied the paint). More...
