Q&As

Creativity. Words are incredibly powerful. They can incite fear, excite, move you to action, and build a civilization. Marketing is all about building business, and that requires creative, critical thinking skills, which are signature traits of writers who are also avid readers.

There was nowhere else to go! I couldn't break through the glass ceiling in corporate America, and not for a lack of trying. I'm incredibly organized, so constantly working "under" people who were more chaotic and less experienced was too much to bear. I'm good at running business.

That's a tough question because everyone has their quirks. The clients I've worked with for years say they love coming to me for all their writing and marketing needs because I take it personally, which is true. Your project is just as important to me as it is to you, and that's because your review and repeat business mean everything to me. My whole business is built on clients who come back whenever they need my services.

That said, there should be a question in here on what kind of clients with whom we will not work; these relationships are a two-way street. I do not and will not work with people who do not value my time, experience, and skills. Nobody works for free, and I find that this is a regular problem in the industry - where new business owners try to use me to work out their marketing ideas without paying me for my time. Also, anyone who thinks they know more about my job and try to dictate how I do it will not be a good fit for me.

Life's too short not to love what you do and who you work with.
