Step 1: Prepare your company file for updating
Before installing the latest Enterprise version, ensure your company file is free from any data damage.

Log in to QuickBooks as the Admin. The Admin account must have a password.
Go to the Company menu, then Users, and select Edit the Admin user.
Remove special characters like ":" "&" and "/" from the company file name, ensuring the extension is .qbw.
Exit and restart QuickBooks.
Go to the Window menu, then select Close All.
Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
Choose Verify Data.
Once verification is complete with no issues detected, proceed to install Enterprise.
Step 2: Install the latest Enterprise version on the server
Before beginning, download the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

Close all running programs, including antivirus programs.
Double-click the downloaded Enterprise file.
Select Server Install, then Database Server and QuickBooks Application.
Follow onscreen prompts for installation. If encountering an error, reboot your system and retry installation.
Open your company file in the new QuickBooks version.
Sign in as the Admin. QuickBooks will back up your file before updating. Once updated, the company file will open.
Optionally, uninstall old QuickBooks versions from the server, including any database managers.
Step 3: Configure network and server settings
Set up your network to work with QuickBooks in a multi-user environment.

Select the Windows Start button, then Programs.
Choose QuickBooks, then QuickBooks Database Manager.
Select Scan Folders.
Add the folder containing your company file.
Scan the folder; your company file will appear at the bottom of the window.
Close the Database Server Manager.
Step 4: Install the latest Enterprise version on workstations
Uninstall previous QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise versions from workstations:

Select the Windows Start button, then Settings.
Choose Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs.
Locate the old QuickBooks version, select Uninstall/change, and follow prompts.
Download and install the latest QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise version:

Download the latest version to workstations if not already done.
Close all running programs, including antivirus software.
Double-click the Enterprise file.
Select Server Install, then Database Server and QuickBooks Application.
Choose Express; if selecting Custom and Network, ensure to select the appropriate option.
Follow prompts until installation completes.
Open your company file in the new QuickBooks version.
Sign in as the Admin, allowing QuickBooks to back up and update your file before opening.
