Went here kicking and screaming because I associated this place with the previous restaurant that occupied this location. What a wonderful surprise to walk into such a welcoming atmosphere and wonderful food . Have been back many times for dinner and lunch...don't make the same mistake I did. I went during lunch and the lunch menu items we ordered were just the right portions at reasonable prices. The server was prompt and knowledgeable. I had lasagne and it was great. This is the greatest hidden gem of Nashville. The most delicious, authentic Italian food. Get the Caesar's Salad! A REAL Caesar's Salad, the best I've ever had outside of my own kitchen! The lasagna is wonderful, their red sauce, gravy, is fabulous...and the pizza? Glorious. Be sure to have the lucious gelato (I love the vanilla bean, but they're all terrific). I googled looking for an “authentic Italian restaurant” and after a little scrolling, I came across this place. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. From the cute entrance with a gelato window, to a gorgeous bar and seating, to a window to watch the chef (which we didn’t notice til we left). The staff was polite, sweet, and attentive. The food was absolutely incredible. We did muscles for the appetizer and it was plenty. Then We did chicken parmigiana and shrimp scampi. They were both delicious. We even tried their wine cocktails and tiramisu. NOTHING was to disappoint. Literally everything was immaculate. Porta Via is not only a great neighborhood restaurant, it has the real Italian certified pizza. Some people like the lesser Chicago, New York, etc, but true Italian pizza is superior and Porta Via is one of only a handful of places in Nashville that execute it well.
