Frozen in time and still delicious 15 years later.I was a huge fan of Planet Bombay when I first went with pals wayyy back in the day; restaurant hasn't changed after a recent visit before a concert. And I mean that in every way: decor is exactly the same. Bollywood playing up on the TVs. The walls here are likely sticky to the touch, and we still have to "pardon me, excuse me" squeeze past food-runner station to get to the restroom in back. To see state of affairs in the back-of-the-house you'll be forgiven for wondering how often they've failed health inspections. But seriously: I just don't give a cr*p about that. Folks here treat you like family, and if you make a rezzie in advance they put a "reserved" card on the table until you arrive--making you feel like the Queen of England. We ordered samosas, chicken tikka masala and Vindaloo--all of which were on-point. Even our Taj Mahal beer was SUPER chilled, exactly as I you'd want it to be.Our host was super nice to us and did 2 things that earned them 5 stars: we asked permission to remain parked in their lot for the concert we were seeing at Variety Playhouse, and he said yes. Also, I asked our waiter to pack up our remaining food. When it never came back to the table, our host realized the waiter just tossed it and made us a new to-go container with fresh food. THAT is amazing.Don't ever change, Planet Bombay. stay grunge-fabulous. More...

Wow. That's what I have to say about this place. We dropped in on a whim and boy, were we glad that we did. Everything we ordered was a delight, however, the best part of the experience was the customer service. I was indecisive about what to order and our server had such a great knowledgeable attitude, asked the right questions and helped narrow it down very quickly yet respectfully. Everyone seemed very attentive as they would check our table in a timely manner, cleared empty plates, kept our water glasses full. .. etc. Definitely a five star worthy service worth mentioning. We will surely return to try other items on the menu as I am confident that they are just as spectacular. More...

I've been coming to Planet Bombay for the last 16 years. My favorite dish is Paneer Makhani, which I've tried in all sorts of restaurants, including some of the best Indian restaurants on Brick Lane in London. Planet Bombay beats them all. However, it seems like maybe two years ago they changed their recipe and it isn't half as good now. It just tastes like sweet tomato sauce and cream now. Bring the old recipe back! (or send it to me :p)I recommend this restaurant to anyone and I'm sad to see that they've moving locations to Edgewood, as it was such a nice Little Five Points fixture, but I hope they get good business at their new location. I was down in Atlanta for a convention, and was not about to go to the Indian restaurant that is in the heart of Atlanta because it was packed to the gills! So, I googled places near my hotel and Planet Bombay came up. The only "bad" thing about the food is that I asked for medium to hot and they gave me mild. Honestly, if I'm not sweating, it's not hot enough for me! So, I was not thrilled, but the flavors were delightful nonetheless. More...

Nagaland hot isn't something you typically ask for, so I had to do some research to find about a little more about this heat level. Nagaland is not a heat level but instead a place. It is a state on the northeast border of India. This is one of the only places on the planet that the Ghost pepper grows naturally. In other words, to say something is Nagaland hot is asking to add Ghost pepper to your dish. Every curry on the menu can be made anywhere from normal to Nagaland hot at no extra cost. I ordered the Rogan Josh because lamb is one of my favorite meats. After asking for it to be Nagaland hot the waiter warned against it but soon accepted the order. The curry comes out in a steel dish, common for Indian restaurants, but this really helps retain the heat. The first bite is warm and flavorful and even tricks you into thinking it will be hot. I am a firm believer that there is a difference between a hot dish (pain sensation, lingering heat followed by numbing in some cases) and a spicy dish (very flavorful but does little more than a hot Tabasco). Nagaland hot is a spicy dish that does not need any additional heat additive, but it is not hot. I really enjoyed the food, and the service is great. We were checked on multiple times during our meal, and did not feel rushed out. A single curry is more than enough for two, and I was over full leaving the place.Follow me on Instagram @lifebeast1 More...

After I had a bad day, my boyfriend decided to take me out for dinner to cheer me up. He chose Planet  Bombay, right in the heart of Little 5 points. It's a fun Bohemian area with excellent people watching, shopping, and walking.  Parking was easy, right behind the restaurant. That's amazing for L5P! I've circled the roads looking for parking too much in my life. The restaurant was completely empty when we went in. I appreciated the authentic Indian picture and art. Really livening up the dining area were two big TVs showing Bollywood style music videos continuously.  There was something mesmerizing about it.  Though my partner and I were in different sides of the booth we could both watch the Bollywood videos.  The dancing music videos were entertaining, though a little TOO cheerful. Our server provided superior service. Finally,  Ibwas happy to find millennial who understood how to treat people respectfully. It must because he was born in India and not the USA! He was so thrilled to wait on us.  The food was hot and in time and served attractively.I got the sample tray meat for one person. It was $20. It was worth it because it included Naan and the other menu items which were $14-16 you had to purchase naan separately.I highly recommend Bombay planet. I took down one star because I did not like the sauce on the tikka masala.   I hope to go back soon but I hope they play something different on the TV! More...

This was my first time at Planet Bombay, but my friend had been going there for many years. She helped me appreciate the appetizers, breads, and entrees.  The wait staff also were very helpful (and attentive and funny).  The veggie somosas were really delicious!  Each of us had a different appetizer. My experienced friend ordered chana sagg as spicy as it comes. My daughter had malai curry chicken.  I had Manchurian fish. Everyone ate a lot and took home the rest. (To me, when you want every drop, that's a sure sign that the food is delicious.)  We ordered the garlic naan bread, which was an excellent complement for the meal.  We also shared the gulab jamun dessert--YUMMY.  Although music (or a movie) was going the whole while, we were able to enjoy a lively dinner conversation.  At the end of the meal, I also enjoyed the candy-coated fennel seeds--which freshen the breath and help prevent gas. (I had dined at Indian restaurants before, but this was my first time trying this after-dinner specialty.)My only reservation about Planet Bombay is about the parking. I'm not that good at parking, and for me it was an adventure. Saag paneer that will make you extremely satisfied, and then upset because you will realize that you have wasted so many minutes and dollars and calories consuming frozen Saag paneer or a dish at (one of Atlanta's many) lesser Indian restaurants. I am sad for so many people who try mediocre or bad Indian food, and that combine with the exotic and unfamiliar nature of the food, they write it off completely. Forgetting also that there are many regions and cuisines of India. The spices and balance here you will find somewhat novel. The Saag is incredible. The vindaloo is very good. The Naan is awesome, and the cheese naan, not sure how traditional it is, but it's awesome. The Korma too. The papadam (thin lentil flour crisps) with mango mint sauce they give you to start the meal even is awesome.  Make sure to get raita (yogurt sauce) to go with spicy dishes.  Their 'hot sauce' (ground peppers) is also fire. Recently I found the service to be warm and hospitable.  I don't believe there is any parking, I parked on a side residential street pretty easily and walked a half block, and the place could be cleaner/ more updated.
